Had coffee with my knitting group
Got the washing done a day early because I got home earlier than usual
Currently working on my jumper in the hope of finishing it in a week, just in case the forecast is right and it is cool enough to wear it to next week‘s knitting group (chances of either are minimal, lol).

Guys are back to finish the siding. Hopefully that will be done today. Cats are doing well overall. No hiding, since the first hour or so yesterday. They're fine. Lots of pounding going on out there!

We had the windows open until 1:00 this morning, then the wind really kicked up. Rick shut everything back up. Chilly this morning, esp considering how warm it has been.

I did 1-1/2 quarts of tomato sauce yesterday. Brought the last of the tomatoes from the WeShed into the house. That's it. Whatever doesn't ripen by this weekend is gone. I'll probably do sauce either Saturday or Sunday and that will be it for the season. Finally! I also made another apple coffee cake. Rick loves that stuff.

  • Breakfast for the girls, emptied the dishwasher, and am back here with my coffee.
  • VOTE! We'll go down to the municipal building as soon as my hair dries and get that done.
  • Trash night tonight

I am pooped. Stayed awake until 2:00 this morning, watching election coverage. And when I finally turned the tv off, I was too pumped to fall asleep. Awakened at 7:00 (Rick took care of the girls) and hit my iPad for more coverage. Drinking my coffee now.

Not much on my agenda today. The contractors still have the east side of the house to do, but they'll be back next week to finish up. Meanwhile, the spouting guys will be here either today or tomorrow, so that means more pounding. Since the contractors aren't done and there will be more pounding next week, I'm not decorating the kitchen for Christmas this weekend. I'd just have to take holiday things (pictures, for example) back down from walls. I'm going to wait. (The guys warned us to take everything down from exterior walls, so they didn't fall.)
  • Finish my coffee and then work on litter boxes.
  • Hit the WeShed to check on the plants. My Christmas cactus is simply gorgeous this year!
  • Get laundry ready to do tomorrow.

Election results are better than I anticipated, not as good as hoped for.

Today I need to

1) get plywood covers installed over cut down bananas which are topped with leaf filled tubs and leaves heaped over them. Himself will help / supervise. Here are images from 2019 so you can see what's involved. First is a stump of cut down banana, next leaves heaped over tubbed bananas, and lastly the plywood covers installed. The "extension" made with pallets is where a banana multiplied outside covered area. Mind you, I started with only one banana.

2) Work assiduously on cleaning / packing remaining canna tubers, stacking crates. It would be wonderful to park my car in the garage again.

3) I know there are at least four more pots of cannas outside. Get them under cover today. Best would be dump and move just tubers, move pots and all if time runs short.

Pam,
my neighbors had a new roof put on over the summer and the pounding drove me crazy!!
We had a new roof put on several years ago; fortunately, I was working through that. Rick took time off work to be here.
The pounding is not good. We had to remove all pictures, knick-knacks, etc from exterior walls because of them falling off from the pounding. That was just crazy. Fortunately, after a while, the cats got used to it. Miss Priss (Mollipop) wasn't amused, but Tabby and Muffin started to nap through it. They'll be back next week to finish up.

We're waiting on the gutter-weenie to get here. We are to get wind and over 2 inches of rain tomorrow (from Nicole remnants) and we may not have spouting if he doesn't soon get here to do his job. He was supposed to be here at 8:00.
  • Working on a bit of laundry. Also finishing up a grocery list.
  • Will be working up in the garden this afternoon. Tore out tomato plants yesterday and will do the peppers today. (The contractors left the huge trash container here and told us to fill it up with everything we have. That saved us a trip to the transfer station, cleaned our basement a bit, and helped with the garden stuff. The rest of the garden stuff will be on a pile to dry out and will be burned.)
  • Leaves. Our next-door neighbor came over yesterday. He said that one day he looked over and all the leaves were raked up. The next day, he looked over and our yard was all yellow again. That's what happens when you plant a lot of trees, I guess. The trees over by the WeShed still haven't lost all their leaves. Hopefully, after Nicole comes through tomorrow and Saturday, that will be it for the leaves.

Pam,

About half of the houses on my block, as well as surrounding blocks have had their roofs replaced this summer and fall due to our huge May hailstorm. It has been the sound of pounding seven days a week from 7:30-730 since then. One of the good things about snow coming soon I’d that they will have to stop.

1) Got the three wooden covers installed over the cut back bananas. One went well. The other two - yeah, you guessed, did not go well. I did not have the energy to finish with pallets, tarps, leaves. And Himself says next year he will design / create / install a different system.

2) Packed two crates of canna tubers. More to do.

3) Never did anything with the remaining outdoor pots of cannas.

But an acetaminophen is helping my back.

It's 10:17 a.m. here in New Jersey and I am only now drinking my coffee (halfway through mug.) How come? Because earlier Himself pointed out that at the moment fallen leaves were dry so I could go out and set tarps and pallets as planned for the front of the banana covers. Which I did, in a very haphazard manner. He did ask if I wanted help but space is tight so it is awkward for two. So it is done, sort off. Need to redo, get another pallet, another tarp, and redo another day.

But right now I am drinking my coffee. And there is a fine drizzle happening outside. So it was good timing.

Pack more canna tubers today (after all, it is dry inside the garage) and sweep the floor. Move my car in? We'll see.

Started in with the Headaches from Hades last night and was in bed by 6:30. It was nasty. Got up this morning and felt decent. But then the jagged lines started to appear and I went back to bed for a while. Got back up and I feel OK. Just really tired.

The gutter-weenies came in last night (in the dark) and did the spouting on the house. They had lights and we turned outdoor house lights on to help them see. Done in about 45 minutes. Rick went outside this morning in the rain and the spouting is doing its job. Just need the east end of the house re-sided next week and it will be done. Next project is air conditioning in the spring. Rick is working on it. And a new deck on the back of the house by the pool; the siding guys do decking and they're going to give us an estimate. The AC comes first.

Rick wants to visit his mom, but is waiting for Chewy to deliver before he leaves. (I did a Chewy order yesterday and it's out for delivery.) His mom has pneumonia (again) and isn't doing well. He'll be allowed in go in to visit, but has to mask up, which he does anyway, because they always have several COVID cases there.

Vacuumed yesterday afternoon before I went outside. Pepper plants are done and in a pile for burning. Tomato plants are done and in the pile. I tore out the green beans plants. I found some nice, big green peppers on the plants and brought them in, washed, sliced, and bagged. One blushing tomato.

My SIL texted me: Want to go back to TJ's next weekend? Sure! When I asked her what she wanted, she said: Everything! Turns out she loves TJs!

I'm not doing much of anything today.
  • Finishing up the grocery list as the new Giant ad came out and (maybe) going for groceries this afternoon.
  • Chewy order just came, so I have to add food to the pantry. The girls were down to Beef and Liver (hate it), Poultry Platter (hate it), Turkey and Giblets (not happy about eating it, but they will), and Liver and Chicken (they like it, depending on the mood they're in). I got a case of Mixed Grill (they started eating it again), a case of Ocean Whitefish (I don't buy a lot of fish, but they do like this and I'm desperate), and a case of Liver, Turkey, and Chicken (they'll eat it, depending on the mood they're in). And two 40-pound bags of Tidy Cats. Believe me, these girls are not starving, regardless of what they tell you! Brats, all three of them.
And that will be it. It's a rainy, bleak Friday and I'm feeling lazy.

We went to TJ's today. My SIL texted last night and said that, if it weren't for PennState playing at home this afternoon, we'd go to TJ's today. She doesn't want to deal with football traffic at State College. So I said that a new TJ's opened in Camp Hill and we could check it out. Sold! We went to pick them up and head down. And we also checked out a Restaurant Store while we were there.

Got home around 3:00 and I was beat. Didn't fall asleep this morning until around 3:00, back up at 6:00 to give the girls their breakfast and grab a shower. And I drove down and back. Got home and I crashed. Rick spent the night watching football. And I mean, I really crashed. Just awakened again around 8:00. And getting ready to go back to bed for the night and watch a bit of television.

And after I went to bed, I crashed again and never woke up until 8:00 this morning. I must have really needed some sleep! Rick says I go and go and go, until I can't anymore. And then I crash.
  • After I finish my coffee, I need to scoop boxes.
  • There are three loads of laundry sprawled out on the bathroom floor. Work on some of it today and finish it up tomorrow.
  • Doing the last of the tomatoes today. Rick even said it's going to be weird coming out to the kitchen and not seeing any tomatoes on the counter. I might get a quart of sauce, if I'm lucky.
  • I think we're grabbing groceries today. And that will be it until after T-Day when I do a shopping trip for baking supplies that I don't have (although I don't really need much, I don't think). I should have everything I need for T-Day. (Found out that wrapping my celery in foil really does help it keep longer.)

Today

1) Himself wants my help putting the doors back on the wood burning stove, now that he has replaced the gaskets

2) go to the IGA for lunch meat, cheese, tortillas, and doubtless will find another item. Or two. Perhaps three. Or more to add to my cart.

3) Sweep out the garage now that all the cannas that were in there are crated up for the winter. Of course there is a large pot of C. Tropicana outside that I'd really like to salvage before winter really sets in.
