What kind do you use? I’m using tidy cats free and clear charcoal unscented. Man this stuff is the most fantastic odor control I have ever had but the dust is becoming a health hazard for everyone. I’m also getting batches that pool instead of clump. Yesterday was the final straw. After cleaning the boxes and putting in a new containers.. these batches were just too dusty. I decided to funnel the litter right back into the plastic containers. Big mistake! Should have just put it into a trash bag. I funneled at face level squatting down.. today my face feels tight and eyes are blood shot. My inner nostrils where moved in black after. I can only imagine how my girls feel have being covered in this crap for so long. Two weeks ago I tried going back with dr elsey and that was a no go. I am sensitive to smells and only use unscented if anyone has suggestions or what’s to share what they use. On a side note..years ago I bought a breeze and no one would use it. In the past year I’ve tried Everclean and boxie based off of online reviews and they were dusty. I recently bought exquisite cat paper pellet but no one would use it. I still have a full bag. I later read online I need a sifter box for this anyhow. Thanks In advance.

I use Fresh Step - unscented when I can find it. I have used it for years, and it isn't any dustier now than it was years ago. I mention that because other members who use other products have been complaining more recently about the dust being worse than it used to be. I always keep the container as close as I can to the bottom of the box when adding/replacing litter in order to reduce the possibility of dust. I don't seem to have dust when scooping either. The dustiest time is probably when I empty the entire litter box for a thorough cleaning, so I generally do that outside or scoop most of it out into a paper bag before dumping the last bit.

Feeby is not a digger, nor does she cover anything up, so that probably helps keep the dust down too. But, even so, there is no odor emanating from the box either. May be different for others with more than one cat. Since I only have one cat, keeping the litter box scooped frequently is probably also helpful, at least in terms of odor.

Interesting, I use the exact same litter as you but I haven’t noticed it being any more dusty than any other clumping clay litter. And it clumps very well for us. Sometimes I wonder if there are different “batches” of litter, maybe sourced from a different area or manufactured in a different facility? Has it always been a problem or did something recently change?

Interesting about some members finding litter being more dusty, as I've been using Arm & Hammer Double Duty Clumping Litter for several years, and just last week thought it seemed dustier than usual. Ruby's not much of a digger, so I don't think the dust would be a problem for her, but it did see more dusty when I was dumping new litter from the bag into the litter box.

I don't find it has much scent, but it's not unscented, so probably wouldn't be an option for you, Cat.mama Cat.mama .

But Arm and Hammer does have 2 unscented litters that might work for you.

I have a litter robot so I use the litter that they sell. But it works great in a regular litter box too. Clumps great and no odor

Thank you I’m going to add a box to my order. I have 4 litter boxes for 3 cats. I’ll put this as one of my trials!

Hello! I’ve used this litter for almost 2 years maybe. This stuff has always been perfect, very low dust. I was buying the 40# from chewy. About 6 months ago I got a batch that was so bad. I didn’t realize it at first. My cats drink water with their paws.. the cats fountain got this nasty film which caused one cat to stop drinking. I realized it was dust from their paws. I keep an air purifier in the room and it was just covered in white. After that batch I started getting the 20# only delivered locally. I thought maybe in shipping it got too broken up. Fast forward to now. Over the last couple of month I would get random orders of litter that was very white colored not the normal gray. They are pretty bad. One cat her entire undercoat is just coated in dust. The litter I got the past two weeks they walk out of the box looking like they are covered in sand. Yesterday somehow My long hair cat managed to get pieces like cement suck in her mane. In these last batches has been the start of the pooling vs clumping.

My mom uses arm and hammer i don’t remember which one.. but she was telling me the same. She’s seeing more dust and also big hard pieces of clay in the boxes. Is this the litter that is very grainy like sand? I’ll give it a go thank you!

Catit pellets clump well and is lower dust.

I previously liked Arm and Hammer corn litter, but it's not sold here anymore.

To get no dust, you would need to switch to a litter without clumping agent and a no-holes scoop.

I never recommend clay litter but it is a necessary thing for some, financially.

Jealous!! I’ve wanted one for so long but think my girls are too big and would not use it. I’ll google and get some info on the litter, thank you

I had a race track from these guys, no idea they made litter! Is this what you use in place of corn?

I'm using arm and hammer multi cat clumping litter. It works pretty well and the pee doesn't break into bits when sifting. I also have a little 4 gallon step to open lid trash can next to the litter box that I put the pee and poo in so I can just bag it all up when it gets halfway full. It keeps the smell contained as well as using febreeze bags lol. I didn't want to shell out for a litter genie

I use Okocat paper pellets now as my cat needs no dust. One has FLUTD and the other risk black so the dust gets everywhere.

I also enjoyed Okocat wood pellets previously. However, the absorption wasn't as fast so there would be temporary pooling (maybe 20 minutes or so?). It's good on clumping and lower dust the more pellet like you go. They have 3 options.

The paper pellets absorb fast but it is a learning curve to go to non-clumping so not for everyone. I do like to sanitize the boxes once a month and since there is no clumping agent, nothing is stuck to the sides or bottoms so it turned my hour of cleaning 3 boxes into 5 minutes. I can not just wipte with sanitizer, rinse and dry.

You don’t ever get gnats? I tried a genie awhile back. My cats pee clumps are too big. It was a big mess! I’m using poly bags now that cost way too much

On the paper pellets are you using a sifter box? This is the stuff that breaks down into saw dust right?

I use Fresh Step Unscented and a LOVE it. Lately I've had a major problem finding it to the point where I ended up with a Clump & Seal. I originally stopped using Clump & Seal because I find it stinks. Even when the box is clean I can smell it when I walk by the room it is in. I managed to find some Fresh Step and bought $100 worth. Hopefully by the time it's used up (I only have one cat) it will again be readily available on store shelves. I don't know what the deal is with empty kitty litter shelves.

Maybe this is why we are seeing a difference in quality of litter. Maybe due to shortage they are manufacturing the product differently or with sub par materials to have something on the shelf??

Also how did you transition your cats to this?

Here's a pic of the Arm and Hammer Double Duty clumping litter, with a quarter to get an idea of the size of the grains.
And in case anyone is wondering, I used clean litter for the pic. ;)
