Cece went to the vet today!! I am very happy to say that she now has her rabies shot, her nails are clipped and her problem area is shaved ☺The vet said she looks really good for a cat that was mostly feral.

The funniest part was I had to give her half of a tranquilizer to get hold of her. Still was quite a crazy show but her and I both survived. So, the vet was clipping her nails and Cece starts purring like crazy and kneading her toes 🤣The vet was even laughing, she let him brush out some knots too.
When we got home, I removed the bed from her room. She is now hanging out in her kitty condo very contently. She ate, used her box and went right back to watching everything. The vet is very hopeful for her, he said she is very calm considering her background and told me to keep socializing with her. I feel so much better, even though you all said to keep up the good work I was feeling like I wasn’t doing enough for her. She may never be a lapcat or a bed buddy, but that is ok. As long as she is relaxed and content, I am glad. Here is a picture of my sweet girl hanging out.

Hello everyone, I am a new adoptive parent of a 5 yr old female kitty. She spent most of her life as a feral but was taken in by a family with 13 cats. She was attacked by one of the cats and is now with me. I need some tips to help her acclimate, she is currently under the bed for 3 days. Eating and using the box, but zero interraction. How can I help her?
Give it time. She has experienced a lot of trauma. Keep her happy talk gentle to her.

I am so happy to hear that you were finally able to get CeCe to the vet. :yess:  I am also happy that she did well at the vet despite receive some sedative. It sounds like she is a healthy girl and not as feral as you thought. She looks happy in her Kitty Condo. You are doing all the right things and more importantly you are doing more than enough for her. She has a home. That gives her a lot to purr over. Thank you for being a hero to her. Well done!🙂 :purr:

Awwww.... look at sweet Cece in her little cat condo cubby. So much better than hiding under the bed. :hearthrob::catlove:
I completely agree, a lot more closeness now. My husband and I go in there frequently to sit next to her and talk softly or play with her toys. She is watching us but she actually napped for a bit while I was sitting there.

I feel a sense of relief, which I believe is helping Cece settle down. Not having the bed for her to hide under has allowed me to really bond with her from a distance. I started her on the gabapentin yesterday although I think it is too much, she slept all day and was very spacey. I didn’t like that so today I gave her half the recommended dose and she was much better. Relaxed but not out of it.
I spend a lot of time playing with her toys, slowling sliding them towards her. She watches and when I get the toy close to her, she will reach out her paw to tap it playfully. Tonight she actually pulled it towards her. It is a longish stuffed toy. A few times she allowed me to reach out with a toothbrush on a toy pole and gently scratch her head with it. I do it just for about a minute and she does not appear stressed at all.
I am excited about her future here, she is finally relaxing and to see her more content melts my heart.

Soooo excited, it is like having a new kitty! She is so different even though I still can’t touch her. I sense her calmness with me☺
You are doing very well with Cece and she's gaining more trust in you. I do believe that she'll overcome her fears and soon you'll be able to pet her.

We have some definite progress! Cece is now seeking me out☺ She has been meowing the past few mornings, much different than her previous yowls. When I go to her room she starts purring and is content. Yesterday, she came out of the room and all of a sudden I see her peeking around the corner, sees me and starts meowing. This morning I heard her when it was time to get up, she is in my dining room under my shelving unit and keeps peeking out and meowing to get my attention. She seems a bit anxious which is expected but she is better when I talk to her. She is definitely coming around and I will continue to let her set the pace so we do not have any setbacks.

That's amazing progress! You must be so thrilled. :hearthrob::petcat:
I sure am, right now she is still hiding next to me while I work, under the shelf. She looks so uncomfortable in that position but I imagine she will come out if it gets to be too much. She has that wide eyed look, probably wondering what the heck she did 😂

A little Cece update…she is going at her own pace, slowly. She has come out of her tower at times and will let us sit near her. She watches and purrs, we do not reach towards her but we play with her toys and hold our hand out so she can see it, palm down so she does not feel like we are trying to grab her. A few times she has actually walked by us, that is huge! She will walk by and then sit down and watch us. The gabapentin is calming her, even at 1/4 of the dose, she does not have that terrifed look, just a calmness about her. She is always kneading her paws and purring. I crocheted a small pad to put in her cubbies in her tower. One so that it is softer and two so she has my scent. She seems to like it. Once in a while she will hiss as I walk in, but I just slow down and talk softly to her and she settles down. I am always observing for signs from her. It is definitely a fresh start with her and I am so happy that she is much more relaxed.

Cece is doing well. Excellent progress. One thing i can tell you about having a rescued feral is that they can be very sensitive to noise and don't take surprises very well. That is why she hisses when you walk in the house. Hopefully in time she will get use to that and all the other sounds in and around your house. Keep in mind outside they are exposed to quite a number of dangers so they are on high alert. Also, ferals usually stay awake at night because of the dangers at night (predators hunting).

Well, I am so glad to hear about CeCe's progress. Thanks for keeping us up to date. It puts a smile on my face hearing how far CeCe has come. Yay! 🙂
