I am in! Not sure how long it will last but reading and laughing! So glad to hear that Carleton is better!:bunnydance:@neely very good news!
Strange outlet tarasgirl06 tarasgirl06 ? I can’t see it very well but I know there was a time when phones plugged in to odd outlets.
N NY cat man Sears catalogs were softer. Lol
white shadow white shadow So happy to see you! I vanish and a shadow appears? Must be some kind of magic. Hoping all is well there.
rubysmama rubysmama That is so adorable! Your guitar is out of tuna? So glad you made it through Fiona. Some places got hit hard so I was worried. My ability to keep up was sketchy so very relieved you posted.
Maria Bayote Maria Bayote Bery glad to see you here too. I have had you on my mind and been wondering. I hate being out of touch. Still, my heart is reaching out to all.
Margot Lane Margot Lane Wallpapered with telegraphs? That must have been interesting. I have the Telegraph my Grandmother received when Grandaddy was returning from war. I can only imagine how much that piece of paper meant to her. Recently I read of someone finding old “war” money as wallpaper. It is worth more now than it was then. Lol Or would be if they could unglue it.
Mamanyt1953 Mamanyt1953 So…. Miss thang made styrasnow? Lol Mackie loves destroying styrafoam. He usually has little balls of foam all over! It goes like this,” Mackie, did you shred the styrafoam? No. Why would you think that?” Evidence is everywhere!!!! Lol You went from tabby to spotted!
Whenallhellbreakslose Whenallhellbreakslose Love that cat daddy videos and have watched many of them. He hogs the kitties! Lolololololololol Bery cat oriented guy and the cats are sooo in tune. Precious. Love the vintage videos too. Wow. Full service gas station. At the tail end of that era I got to have a summer job for a family that owned a station. It was the last spot for full service it that town. I was allowed to “help.” Imagine the shock when a teenage girl checked the oil! I often laughed at the reactions but small town and word spread that it was “okay.” Then the gas shortage hit. Unh.
I remember my Grandmother had a record player that also made records. Her family had big connections in the electrical field. “New gadgets came their way sometimes. She had a Window unit air conditioner too! Wow. It felt icy! Lol The TVs back then we’re tiny screens but when color arrived, it was amazing! We all went to visit to see what that was like. Remote control TV followed. Much, much later my other Grandmother got a microwave oven. She was actually a bit scared of it.
Greenstamps! As a newly wed I got a blender, an mixer and a Betty Crocker cookbook with greenstamps. For those who remember Stuckeys, the daughter is reviving them! There are still some original restaurant /grocery signs near here. Newer is not always better. TV signals were free! Few channels but free. A family member was traveling and calls to another country had to be scheduled. The operator would call and set up another call once the person could be connected. One of the most exciting calls came from Grandmother when she was in Spain. Once both parties were connected the operator got off until the connection was lost. Lol Ship to shore calls became possible too as they were patched through via radio. Phone calls were exciting back then.
pearl99 pearl99 Hooked on Wordle? I keep seeing that but have not been there yet. I’ll have to check it out when I can stay online longer. Been missing your posts and glad to see you! tabbytom tabbytom That is wonderful to hear! Your eyes are healing!:cloud9::hyper: I am so relieved.:yess: Prayers answered!
strider rose strider rose I hope the orange juice gave you a boost snd you are feeling much better now!:hugs:
Lari Lari I know that J will be a great big sister. The kitties will help be good siblings too! ;) Very exciting.
My phone has blinked out a couple of times now. Service was already iffy and now many people are evacuating Florida so as evacuations progress, service will diminish. :ohwell: Hopefully all those traveling and those in the path of this hurricane will be safe.
Oh… tarasgirl06 tarasgirl06 No provider is cutting costs right now. Three of the systems here should give a discount but …. Seems they are victims of progress too. They are constantly out there doing repairs just to have to return and do it again! Three steps forward and four back? Lol I managed to get the weather updates so I am satisfied with that for the moment. I can address the rest after the storm passes. I am thinking that more repairs are coming due to storm damage. If I maintain power and water, I am going to be very happy!:heartshape:

I am also thinking about your family as well in the Phillipines with that Typhoon that hit there. I hope everyone is safe.
Thank you. I just called them and they are safe. My brother and his family are in Manila so I was worried about them most as he still also has 2 small kids and an elderly in-law. My kids (and dogs) are better situated in nearby Manila. They are also fine.

to my TCS family: im starting to feel a little better now but the cough has not went away just yet ...i love you all and wont let it get me down
Good to hear. Rest more until you have fully recovered.

Bery glad to see you here too. I have had you on my mind and been wondering. I hate being out of touch. Still, my heart is reaching out to all.
Happy to hear from you. Be safe always, kisses to the kitties.

Furballsmom Furballsmom She is a hero for sure! 👍
Maria Bayote Maria Bayote Is everyone safe there?
Does anyone remember the old televisions that had a giant magnifying glass over the screen? Lol

Let’s see if I can get a smile post in!

Well, loading was slow and some did not load but this is a start! The kitties received a CARE package. That stands for … Cats Are Really Excited! The box arrived and the kitties moved it from place to place in the house. I hadn’t opened it because they seemed to really enjoy sliding the box around, hiding it under the sofa (mostly Banjo lol) rubbing on it and laying on it. Then, I fell asleep. I woke up because the house was eerily quiet. As everyone knows, if the house is silent, someone is up to something! I didn’t get up but grabbed the camera and leaned over to look. This is what I saw.

Margot Lane Margot Lane Defiance and innocence? That’s Whistle! :flail:It seems to be a family trait. There is a lot of that going around here. If I can stay on site long enough, I’ll have to go see that contest! I know I will laugh. A lot!
Thank you for the welcome back! Hope it sticks!

Whistle is one determined kitty but perseverance certainly paid off for him. I guess next time you'll have to put the CARE package in a closet with the door closed and hidden from sight or should I say smell? Where there's a will there's a way!

So happy to see you back Jcatbird Jcatbird and hope you will be able to log in more often without any internet woes. Keeping you in my thoughts. 🤗

I THOUGHT those toys had "Strider Rose" written all over them! :lol2:Party Mix? Looks like a BIG party is about to happen!
Maria Bayote Maria Bayote my best friend at one job was from metro Manila and she said it took her 4 hours to commute every day. :disturbed: Hoping and praying all is well with your family.
Jcatbird Jcatbird May Ian pass you by!!! It seems like it's one thing after another, doesn't it? Of course it is "the season" but ENOUGH already, yes?
N NY cat man and I seem to think that weird outlet is for an old radio. The fact that there's one in the living room is telling. Of course, there's another one in the hallway alcove, which would lend credence to its being for a phone? I guess we'll never know. This house has some really old features including a little door in the laundry room that opens onto a box and another door to the outside; that's where the milkman would put the milk bottle. We have a built-in ironing board in the laundry room, too. And this house had fuses until my parents got rid of those and had it updated to breakers.
I'm pretty much an "old soul" but much, much older than the 1900s. I like really ancient history and things, and have always studied world history. Paleontology, archaeology and forensic sciences have always been passions of mine.

Well, our (1903) house has a space in the cellar that once was a coal bin, and a since closed- off door where the coal man would insert the chute from his truck to make a delivery, as well as another door on the opposite side for the milkman to make his deliveries. But no radio antenna plugs.

I will try to keep in touch. N NY cat man yes. Right in the path. We will batten down the hatches and shelter in place. Don’t have that cat bus yet so, I stay with the kitties. I may be ordered to “be the boat”! Lol Captain Banjo is in charge and Whistle has his whistle ready. If they strap a flashlight to my forehead, I’ll see where my bow is pointed. The cats are practicing now. Row, row, row! 🤣 Maybe they will let me get up soon.

Looks at this point like they're forecasting tropical storm conditions for you:

I usually read the smile post first thing in the AM, but I had another power blip yesterday, that ended up lasting 25 hours! But it's back on now, so I'm here. :)

Jcatbird Jcatbird : can't believe you're in the path of Ian. You really don't need that worry. Good luck. Stay safe. That goes to anyone else in the hurricane's track. 🤗
