Hi all, our SCL cat gets chlorambucil from Stokes Pharmacy, and we’ve had quality control issues multiple times now. The first time, there were two tablets in one blister pack. The second time last week, the medication was scuffed and our order of six mini-tabs was split into 4 and 2. It it looked like someone literally ripped two off of another pack and threw it in there. The printing was also crooked. We received a replacement today but they sent us nine instead of six and they are from the same lot as last time.

Has anyone else experienced anything like this or know of any alternative pharmacies? At this point I am not sure I can trust their medication if this is how they complete their orders…

I haven’t used them for meds, but have you checked out Chewy? I’ve found them to be very reliable when ordering other products.

So sorry you are having issues with Stokes. I have never used them, so I cannot comment; but it must be so frustrating. I know many people are using them for chlorambucil.

I am using Chlorambucil for my guy. I have only used Wedgewood Pharmacy. I find them to be really great. No problems at all. I am giving 2.2 mg capsules. They come in a medicine bottle, double bagged, with 3 frozen ice packs, in a styrofoam box, inside a cardboard box. The script calls for 40 capsules. The price is not bad.. around $74. It is the next day shipping through Fed Ex, that is expensive. They do not ship on week ends. I ordered them on Tuesday or Wednesday, got the refill on Friday, next day delivery-- I give them one day to process the order. I just signed up for auto-ship.

This was my second delivery from them.. actually 3rd.. the chew treats were a no go with Geoffrey. The capsules are easier for us. I use gloves when handling and wash my hands really well.

I looked at Chewy. They have the brand name: Leukeron, which is majorly expensive. I did not see any chlorambucil (generic version) on their website.

I wish you luck...

Exactly.... Thank you for posting the link....❤
Thank you, I will check them out. It’s hard to gauge based on reviews who is good and who isn’t. Hopefully they will be better though.

as a follow up question, are you getting the mini tabs?

Geoffrey was originally prescribed the 2mg chews, in fish flavor... That was a 'no-go' for him. Based on my prior experiences with him, I asked for a capsule. I thought that pills would be too difficult to deal with---using gloves, and immediately washing surfaces.

The capsules come in 2.2 mg. I had to have Vet reorder for the new dose.

Honestly, I have had no issues with Wedgewood or with giving him the capsules. I have a separate pill gun, an infant medication syringe--for water. I give the 10 ml of water immediately after using the pill gun. I do wear gloves, and wash my hands after. I also use a paper towel to place things on, while I am gathering him up...

Thanks, we have a similar system :) just wanted to make sure the Wedgewood tablets wouldn’t be too big.

I've been using Wedgewood pharmacy for 6yrs now and never once had a problem. They even gave me free rush shipping once when in need. I use the liquid though. For me it's much easier to just squirt down the back of her throat than fight with pills or caps. And typically cheaper too.
I was originally paying $216 for a months worth of pills (4mg a week) & now pay $78 (that's with shipping) for a 4.5mo supply

I used Wedgewood with Krista for her chlorambucil. We went with a highly concentrated anchovy-flavored oil. I got it concentrated to 20 mg/ mL which translated to 0.1 mL of oil for a 2 mg dose. I mixed this tiny amount of oil with an equally tiny amount of salmon oil on a plate. Krista had no issues licking up this dime-sized fishy oil puddle. When she had cleaned the plate, I served her breakfast for that day. I wish all our medication was that easy.
