We got this cat when she was very little and after months of having her she hasn’t gotten much bigger. She’s a little shy but very vocal at times. Sorry for the bad pictures in advance. We’ve gotten so many comments on how she has a unique look to her. The base of her coat is a bright white but then goes out to gray and is very silky. 7A035570-E093-4291-8DA7-4D2A0EB9E8DF.png 062FFCA7-9FCF-4C64-B5BB-CE67500B2BAE.jpeg 95736381-35D9-4BA2-9B49-1957A651B59B.png C9417EF7-A403-4266-AC6B-6C5B72CB320C.png 271795A7-CE3B-4FAA-A0E2-A63575A3B20F.jpeg

She's very cute! Did you have a vet estimate her age?
Has she been de-wormed? Worms can slow growth.

What food is she eating? After 6 months of age, cats can grow more slowly if they've had a good nutritional profile during their early growth periods. If not, they can still grow later sometimes, especially if kept on good quality kitten food until 2 years old. If they begin to gain too much weight, you may have to watch her calories (20-30 calories per pound, depending on activity level and individual cat's metabolism).

I like to use Royal Canin kitten or mother and babycat foods for these circumstances. However, Purina Pro Plan Kitten or something in that price range is also good.

Wet food is more easily digested for cats, so to help them gain weight, they should have that. Royal Canin's Mother and Babycat dry food is rehydratable, so that is another reason I suggest it.

If she's already on a high quality food and has been de-wormed, I would suggest blood work at a vet and perhaps asking about nutritional supplements.

Can you tell us about about her fur? Is it soft or does it get oily or have you noticed any dandruff?

Hi! Thank you for your reply! When we got her she was too young to be taken away from her mother but they were going to drop her off in the middle of the the woods if no one took her in. She could fit in the palm of our hand and still sucks on any furry blanket that we have lol. We got her last august and has gotten gradually bigger but then has seemed to stop growing. She has been dewormed. We took in another kitten (who was also dewormed) and quarantined in a different house before we brought him home because of the horrid shape he was in. We got him in February, and he’s grown to about the same size as her. In the prior household of the newer cat he never received food or water and was kept in a dog cage with the rest of the litter and the mother. He never had a set up spot to use the restroom so he was caked on with feces. The cat in the photo does have very soft fur with a silk like feel to her. She does not have any dandruff nor have I noticed an oily feel to her. She has long fur in between her toe beans on her paws. Her tail is also very fluffy. The base of her coat is a bright white that then goes out to gray and black. She still eats regularly but with how fast the newer cat has grown it’s made me wonder why she hasn’t gotten larger while he has grown very fast. The photos below are recent with her and the newer cat to show comparison of size. She’s the fluffy one and he’s the black cat with the white paws.

Hi , beautiful cats. Now how much does she weigh and for how long do you have her? And how old is the boy (for compassion)?
If she is otherwise healthy you may be just lucky enough to have on your hands one of those …pocket rocket!!!! :D
Another (not everyday thing) she is a black smoke in color, lovely.

She is around a year and a month old, we got her at four to six weeks old when she was very tiny. She weights about 7 pounds. The boy cat is 6 months old and weights 8 and is a bit taller than she is. We love her color so much! We’ve been trying to see if anyone knew what breed she seems to resemble most from family members and have gotten so many different answers.

She's likely just a smaller cat then ☺ 7lbs is a very normal size. Most cats are between 6-10 lbs.

Both your cats a very beautiful and are lucky to have you!

For breed you'd have to get testing done for sure. There are many sites who offer it.

What's really cool is that it's hard to tell for cats whether they are a mix of breeds or whether they contain the genetics that were used to MAKE those breeds. Many cat breeds are realitively new in comparison to other domestic animals. That's why it can be difficult to tell whereas in dogs it tends to be more obvious.

Boys get (usually) much bigger. Mine … boys are 15 and respectively closing on 18 and the princess is 9 and should be closer to low 8. For the breed depends on which part of the world you live in. Some of them (the breeds that naturally occur in particular parts) are more likely to have some known ancestry. Cats breeding is not nowhere close extensive as with other species of animals and cats that you scoop somewhere (I have them ) usually are not mixed with purebreds. In US even domestic lookalikes are being sold at a premium , and as much as people like to talk about purebred studs roaming around … is not likely to happen. Even if you are adopting from the agency they are inclined to label domestic as a breeds and ask a lot more for them (they call them exotics) sometimes labeling them as nonexistent or extinguished breeds.
She is beautiful and special just the way she is … unique :) . Don’t need to put bumper sticker on a Bentley !! :D

For comparison, Magnus is 2 years and is 4.22 kg and Calcifer was already 5.4 kg at 11 months.

Our late cat Lily stayed around 6 lbs her whole life.

I think she is both smoke or possibly, shaded and tortie; together with her longhairness it makes it a little difficult to see exactly the features.

Breed, although the somewhat unusual features, is almost surely domestic longhair.

She MAY have an ancestor; both being smoke and shaded is more common among purebreds.

Quite a few females are smallish, often looks almost as kittens.

She would be a black smoke domestic long hair. Some cats just aren't that big. It sometimes can be due to a lack of proper nutrition as kittens or just not being fed enough. I did a raw ratio diet when my girl was a kitten and she stayed tiny until I switched to an AAFCO balanced raw, then she had a growth spurt lol. But getting her to eat enough was always an issue. She's 10lbs but that's only due to her length, she has tiny paws and a small frame. But sometimes size is also genetics, my boys may only be 12-13 lbs but they are both tall and very long. Your cat is stunning. I love black smokes!
