My mom and I finally got to take the kids to a used book place that we've been wanting to visit for ages. They have DVDs and CDs too. Its in a flea market type place and everything is $1 or $3 if it's a set. They have things somewhat organized by category but otherwise you get to browse through and I love that! The building isn't air conditioned so it was kind of hot but we will go back again in the fall. I might have walked out spending an even $20... But I'd paid for my mom's things since she had taken DD to the bathrooms. And a few things were gifts.

I found some books that were illustrated fashion history by decade; so I got a few for my bestie who was going to come but has had a cold. DD found herself a cookbook she's been reading. (Literally reading a cookbook and asking me about the ingredients.) DS found a big history of NASA book and a compilation book of pictures of things on cats. He thinks it's hilarious and keeps showing us all stuff. I found some travel books on places hes interested in too. The Christian fiction section was kind of small and I found a number of books I've already read but they still had some good looking stories so I got a few to make my purchase even.

I found out they do trade ins also. So this could be a really good resource for us in the future. The vintage section looked neat. Hopefully I can browse that better when it's cooler. ;)
Sounds like am amazing! place to visit, and with fantastic prices.

At those prices it's not so bad if you buy a book and don't love it. Especially if you do trade stuff in. I like to re-read; but I'm sure I could trade in a lot still! I even found some OLD school textbooks. My mom worked for a school for the Deaf when I was a kid and she brought me home some old reading textbooks and I loved them! They were fun to play school or just read. This place gets big pallets of used books from all over; so I think things will change there often too. It felt like a treasure hunt. :cloud9:

We went to a different farmer's market today and were pleasantly surprised. DH bought a cinnamon scone but I saved myself for mocha chip ice cream across the street. We sat outside and enjoyed our treats while looking at this lovely sight.

We went to the Botanic Garden today which was lovely and definitely a positive for me. In fact, I'd love to spend a sleepover there.
They had a newer feature of a birthday party complete with a cake and whimsical figures. :bunnydance:

The rescue that I occasionally help with was able to get us a huge discount on getting the four kittens fixed. She had expected to get us $15-$35 off each surgery, but she was able to negotiate it to $50 per surgery! The place that is doing it charges $50 for neutering and $70 for spaying. That means, to get all four done, we are only paying $20! They go on 7 September.

I had such a close call with Lola today. She LOVES to eat thread so I try to keep every bit of it in my sewing room/office put away. But this morning I was on the computer and when she jumped up I glanced over to see not only string coming out of her mouth but a needle at the end. Immediately head locked her with one arm and pulled the thread out with the other. She was surprised enough that she didn’t go into her fear biting mode. Took me some time to calm down though.

Just got back from hardware store. Very fragile old lady fell hard on the floor & as one, entire line of 7 people rushed to help her, dropping everything. “I’m OK,” she said, but we carefully walked her to her car, carried her stuff, sat with her until she stubbornly brushed us off and drove (hopefully) home. Didn't seem injured or concussed…liked the group instinct we all had.

I received FOUR pairs of pants in the mail today when I only ordered two, and wasn’t charged for the 2 extras! They are great work pants, too, w/ lots of pockets. …Where would your moral compass point in this? (It’s a big company).

The company would probably spend more money on postage to have them returned than the pants cost them and may not be able to resell them if returned anyway so I would just let it go.

I always call or chat to let them know. Two times they told me to keep the items. Another time they provided the shipping label to return it. I’d rather say something and enjoy the things guilt free if they say keep them.
