My one year old baby boy swallowed a hair tie made of elastic and cloth yesterday night. He looks and behaves completely normal and also is eating properly. What should I do? How long is it recommended to wait before taking him to a vet?

You need to monitor him very closely for any symptoms. It can be quite dangerous, as I'm sure you know.
Did he definitely swallow it? I know it's an odd question, but sometimes people see one missing and think the cat got it and find it later.
I would contact the vet. They could well tell you to watch for symptoms and bring him in if there is absolutely anything amiss.. vomiting, not eating, lethargy, seems to be in pain, constipation etc
Check his poo.. he may have passed it, which is the best case scenario :)
Let us know how you go, and welcome to TCS!

Hello
Thank you so much for the reply. He definitely did swallow it because it happened in front of me before I could stop it. He is completely normal even now. Eating and active as usual. No hair tie in the poo yet. Hoping for the best.
