My 1yr old male cat went outside for about 8hrs when he came back home he seemed fine, but ever since he has been attacking me, this is a little guy who always enjoyed being held, cuddled and snuggled!! I have Grandchildren and right now I'm worried!! He seems so on guard and hostile. Please help, I'm at a lost of what to do. Thank you... Bairn's Mom

He's likely in pain somewhere. Cats mask their pain, until they can't. Is it every time you approach or when you are touching a certain area? Could be an insect sting or bite.....is there are minor swelling?

If you can't approach otherwise, can you approach with food/treats?

A vet visit may be necessary if he begins vomiting, becomes lethargic or restless or refuses to eat. There are many possibilities to what could be happening.

If he got in a fight with another animal or was scared by a human, it may be deffered agression.

If possible, I would suggest in the future to let him out supervised only, on a leash or in a Catio or enclosed patio. It is safe for cats and lowers their risk of cat fights, infections, FIV, FeLV, human to cat violence, eating or drinking toxins and many other issues.

Hi, thank you so much for your quick response and feedback. I think you might be right, I think it's something internal. I never let him out but he got passed My Granddaughter on the 1st and he hasn't been the same since he's been back home. It's the weekend and I'm at a loss of what to do!! I lost My Husband and Our German Shepherd all in the last 5yrs. I don't know what to do, the only 24hr clinic for pets turned away an Elderly Lady because she was short 13 dollars ( My Husband and I were happy to help her ) so I hold no hope in Bairns situation. Can you suggest anything I can do to help him?? I'm monitoring his food and water intake and keeping an eye on him. He can't jump much over the last couple of hours and he is just in a corner. Please any suggestions. Thank you, Bairn's Mommy❤💔❤

Those are clear signs that the cat is in pain and needs to be seen by a vet. There is nothing you can do at home to ease the pain or figure out what injuries the cat may have. Home remedies you may find online may do more harm than good even if someone says it worked for their cat etc etc. There are many well meaning people out there but every pet situation is different, not to mention all the trolls who get a kick out of doing harm to desperate people. Is the 24 hour vet the only available place you can take your cat to today / this weekend? Are there any urgent care vet clinics? Those are getting popular now. You can call your regular vet and the after hours voicemail message will tell you who to call for emergencies. It may not be the 24 hour vet place. If money is an issue, be upfront with the vet and see if they can only do the bare minimum tests to determine what is wrong with your cat or offer any financial assistance or something like CareCredit.

Without more information I can't suggest what to do. I don't know whether it's internal or external, whether it's an injury or toxin.

Some vets are open on Saturday, and I can only suggest talking to whatever vets are in driving distance to you. Perhaps one in a nearby town or city?

There's places like this link where you can get financing for emergencies: What is CareCredit? | CareCredit

if you look on the internet "pet care financing" or " vet care financing", you'll find tons of places. We used one for an emergency and you just pay back over time. It was approved the same day, we just needed a cosigner for us...but it'll depend on your credit and what country you live in.
