Hello everyone and hope u have a good one!
first of all, I don't know if this is the right place to post the thread, if it's not then please correct me.
I'm about to get a British Shorthair , she is from a catery that registered with TICA. What document do I have to ask the breeder? I know that vet record is needed, but any other paperwork that I may need to confirm with the breeder on pick up day, such as the baby's TICA registration or so?
thank you so much for your help! I appreciate every single response from you all ❤

Yesthe pedigree certificate is usual. Tica registration surely good. Mail the breeder and ask about what you will get? Will the kitten be neutered when you get him? Do you want to have rights to Show? To breed?

Pedigree would be nice, since you can check up on the history of the ragdoll. If your breeder is good they'll provide it.
Should definitely ask to provide testing of HCM, FeLV, and FIV of parents. Very few catteries will probably won't be willing. Since the kittens can inherit it. Some breeders still breed breeders that test positive or don't bother testing at all.

Thank you for your reply! Yes the kitten will be spayed when I get her. I’m not interested in breeding, but showing I’m not sure. Is that legal or acceptable for a pet to come to show?

There are classes for neutered purebred with certificate. also there are classes for non purebred pets or purebred without certificate (although they are neutered if adult).

If you buy the cat as "pet quality" you can still show him/her, but it's best to ask the breeder if they're ok with it. Some breeders don't want their pet quality cats to be shown because they aren't the best representation of their breeding program. I bought a pet quality Abyssinian and the breeder was fine with me showing him. He ended up being good enough to get his Grand Premier title in CFA.

You do need to get the registration papers from the breeder in order to register the kitten with your name as owner. It's a good idea to do that even if you don't intend to show.
