I did work out #2 this morning. This one was tummy/love handles focused. So now I will have 2 days of rest....If up to it I might do something but I don't want to push myself to where I feel overwhelmed and not want to continue. Sounds pathetic but I REALLY hate exercising...I feel resentful about the whole thing, but due to my physical issues, it's quite exhausting as well.
FYI to anyone who has hyper mobility syndrome with a history of costochondritis, I caution you about doing "jump twists". Basically you jump and twist your lower body from side to side, keeping your core engaged and posture straight.
After only doing 2 twists (one each way) I immediately started with pain in the chest, where the ribs meet the sternum, and a bit of discomfort in the ribs at the mid back region. I then tried them without "jumping" and only bouncing a bit to allow my lower body to twist...still a no go. The pain subsided after about 15 minutes...but wow. A big NO to that exercise again!
I was able to do other twist type exercises without any jumping and not have any pain.

Good for you Jem Jem

And thanks for reviving the exercise thread again. If you really hate exercise you'll need to find something to make it more enjoyable for you. Make yourself an exercise mix of music you really love, buy yourself some nice shower gel or body lotion so you can pamper yourself a bit after your routine, that kind of thing.

I've been doing quite a lot lately. Yoga and a long walk every day, as well as lots of cleaning and yardwork. It's getting really hot here so I am thinking of getting up early and going for my walk before 8 am. I managed to do that for about a month last summer, but I'm really not a morning person. We'll see how that goes..........

How's everyone else doing?

After my 2 days of rest, I did my 3rd workout this morning. This workout was a 9 minute total body. So far, my stubbornness is working in my favor!
Tomorrow is work out day 4 followed by 1 day of rest. I'll keep up this schedule as it seems like it will work for me.

:cheerleader::cheerleader::cheerleader::cheerleader::cheerleader::cheerleader::cheerleader::cheerleader:

I managed one early morning and two evening walks this week. It's already nearly 30 C by 10 am, so if I want to do my full 90 minute walk without suffering I have to be up, dressed, fully caffeinated and the cats all fed by 8 am. I am not a morning person, but it was worth it for the nice cool walk.

45 minutes power yoga so far today. It's going to be an evening walk day.

So I did my 4th workout of the week yesterday and today is rest day. I've completed what I set out to do, and if feels like something I will be able to continue. So pat on the back for me!;)

I'm not one to weigh myself, last I did was probably over 2 years ago. However, because of my new weight loss/health/tone up journey, I figured it would be a good idea to have a base line to track progress, and to see if this exercise program is actually doing anything for me. I plan on measuring myself as well, just haven't gotten around to it yet...I have to go hunting for my measuring tape.
And. Let. Me. Tell. You...If I weren't motivated to exercise before, I sure as :censored: am now!!!!
I hopped on the scale and I'm 146 lbs!!!:bawling::mad:....And this is naked, on an empty stomach and after a :poop: LOL! This is actually depressing. As someone who spent most of their adult life around the 120/125 mark only creeping closer to the 130 mark during a very stressful time in my life (pre pandemic), this is a huge eye opener. I knew I gained pre and during the pandemic, but wow, 25 lbs in 5 years (most in the last 2-3) is horrifying for me. No wonder I feel like crap!

Anyway, sorry, I needed to vent a bit...

Don't worry Jem Jem at least you've noticed and you're doing something about it.

:hugs:

Weighing and measuring yourself is a good idea. It's going to be really satisfying to keep track of how those inches and pounds drop every time you check.

We've had some cooler, rainy weather lately (Typhoon Number 4 heading this way) so I had a long afternoon walk yesterday. The forest is really lush and green right now. Just 40 minutes of yoga today because I had loads of errands to run

90 minutes walk on Wednesday, then 30 minutes of stretching. 90 minutes of yoga today. I also did a little bit of gardening, but it's really hot out there again.

So hot here, getting Into the 107-8° range, and we haven’t even hit our peak yet.
I am stuck in a rut at the moment, as I’m spending several hours a day in the kitchen making pet food. My back ends up screaming at me by the end of the day, and I just can’t bring myself to do anything more. 🫤 Pet food mode will take about a week, then I hope to get back on track.

Well it's been just over 2 weeks, and I have done all the workouts I set myself out to do. Still not happy about it, but pretty proud of myself for doing them anyway.
I still haven't measured myself yet but will do so this weekend, I've put it off for a reason....
I made the unfortunate mistake to weight myself last week (I decided that weighing and measuring will be done once a week only) and was going to pull out my measuring tape after, but when I saw the number on the scale I decided not to. It clicked in a few days later that I had weighed myself during prime PMS symptom time......not good for the self esteem. Ladies....don't track yourself during this time...just don't. I was never one to weigh myself, so didn't really put 2 and 2 together that during the lovely PMS times, it really affects weight...some people will "gain" up to 10 pounds during this time. I didn't gain that much but it was still a bit defeating to see the higher number, which is why I just didn't bother with measuring that day. A few days later, that's when it hit that I didn't gain, it was just the result of being a woman.... :rolleyes3:
Anyway, this weekend will be my official stage one for my "base line" and I'll go from there.

Hope everyone is still staying active!

I had a surgery late April and was cleared for exercise end of June. I started back on the biking and hand weight but also just started PT so for the next 2 months I am supposed to focus on what they need me to do. I have only had evals so far.

Good for you! I'm proud of you too.

That's great progress.

I've been walking almost every day. Walking is my therapy, there's nothing like a long walk in the woods to calm the mind. We've had some hot days and some very wet days, but I try and get out as much as I can.

90 minutes of yoga and an hour walk on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday. An hour of yoga and a two hour walk yesterday.

It's pouring with rain here right now, but if it lets up a bit I'll go out this afternoon.

Way to go! Sometimes sticking to it is a hurdle on its own.

Definitely stick to what the PT gives you. Listen to your body and let them know how it responds. Recovery is so unique to each individual.

You are totally my hero. :worship:

I’m done with pet foods for a while, so I plan to get back on track with a little pilates tomorrow.

Thanks. PT is a trip because it is opposite the No Pain No Gain message you hear everywhere else.

I haven't posted here lately, as my exercising has been minimal. But I think I need to start walking on a regular basis again, as too much sitting around reading and enjoying summer is making my clothes feel a bit tight. So my plan is to walk every morning before it gets too hot. Starting tomorrow. Hopefully.

Oi! Hope your back feels better soon.

After sending half the day yesterday car shopping, and the other half installing a ceiling fan, I was too beat to go walking last night.
However, I got my regular session of weights in this morning. It was lower body, so not sure if I’ll go walking tonight.

I did my morning walk on Friday, but didn't happen yesterday. And not sure if I'll get out before it gets too hot today, so might try to do an evening walk.

I've been walking and doing yoga all week, but I had a day off today. It was the first sunny day for ages and my garden need some love. I spent about two hours weeding, pruning and repotting.

I'll need another trip to the garden center soon

It's now been three weeks and I've only missed one of my scheduled days of exercise. I wasn't feeling well so I just rested that day. I actually spent most of that day just reading and went to bed early. Woke up feeling perfectly fine, and got right back on track with my next scheduled work out day! No matter what I feel I "need" to do, I still have to listen to what my body is telling me. Last thing I need is to get sick right before my holidays by pushing too hard...I got big plans!!!!

Also, for any of you who exercise at home....do your cats look at you like you've grown two heads while working out?...
