Our beloved angel Suha has ascended. I have been down this road so many times, and I knew the signs that she was going to be leaving us shortly after she started thinning out drastically, showing signs of kidney involvement and not eating her usual amount. She would have been eighteen in September, and she enjoyed excellent health all her life. She found me as a tiny kitten, wandering alone under one of our ancient junipers in the Mojave; and she was born feral and remained fierce, only bonded to me, though she did grow to love our roomies.
Early this morning, I knew she was leaving us.
She takes a part of my soul with her.
So many of our loved ones are greeting her, I know, at the Bridge.
Elvis is absolutely freaked out. He is hiding up at the head of the bed, under the bed. I've tried to coax him out to eat, but he is not ready yet.
Of course we are all in shock at this time. It seems very surreal.

I am so sorry for your loss of Suha. Any cat who has the good fortune to have been able to share their life with you has been blessed. Poor Elvis is in shock, but he will come around once he has processed her loss. Suha is a beautiful girl.
Thank you so much for your kind words. Yes, we were deeply bonded for 17 1/2 years. We always will be. Elvis has spent some time on my lap, now, and ate something. Good signs.

Oh, I am so sorry.. but you had SuHa for a long time. I know it is NEVER long enough.. but for almost 18 years, you had each other and loved each other... (((hugs)))

And ((hugs)) to Elvis also.
Thank you, Cindy. Yes, it is very hard as our bond was so deep. I so hoped she'd make 18 and keep going. She passed 6 years less 3 days from our beloved Rani, her nemesis, who left us at 19.

Dear Suha, you stayed true to everything in your spirit. Now fly free and watch over your loved ones from the other side. All the rainbows belong to you now.
tarasgrl, you already know everything that is in my heart for you, Suha and Elvis as well as your roomies. She stayed and guarded you a very long time. Brave and beautiful, her light will never leave us. Her view must be like that in the Mojave. She can touch the stars now. I know that Elvis is likely to react as the Clowder here did when BJ left. Sometimes it almost seemed that they felt he must still be here but were confused that things were different and also at my own sadness. As these kitties gave me comfort and I gave it to them, we muddled through together. A bit of catnip on top of the food offered to them seemed to help a little. We cannot hide our pain from a cat but also, they know when the wounds begin to scar over. I found here that video from YouTube of kitty heartbeats and purrs actually helped the most anxious of the kitties. Perhaps that would help Elvis , and maybe you too. Some worked better than others and if you want me to find one that the cats here approve of, let me know.
The Clowder sends love to you. My prayers and love are for you all and also for Suha.:grouphug2:
“Mother Earth…we return to you one of your children. Her spirit will return to her ancestors and she will continue to live in our memories. We are thankful we were able to share our lives with her and give her over to your loving arms.” The quote is thought to be from Albert Schweitzer. :redheartpump:

I'm so sorry for your loss. Even if we know it is inevitable, it is still a shock and brings so much pain to our hearts. That fierce little girl will always be a part of your soul. You have a bond of love that cannot be broken. I pray you can use your precious memories of happier times to bring comfort to your broken heart. She was in your life for a reason, and that reason was love. Although she now follows a new path, her journey will always parallel your own. At times like these, I always like to think of "Do not cry because it is over, smile because it happened".
You gave that sweet girl the best life she could imagine. All she ever wanted was a nice home and love, you provided her with both. She thanks you for that and will always be as close as your thoughts and prayers when you need to talk. Her spirit soars free now, young and eternal. There is a bright new star in the heavens that is her now, and it will shine down on the one she loves above all else.......RIP beautiful fierce Suha. You will be dearly missed, you will always have a secure place in a loving heart. May the good Lord bless and keep you, until you meet again!

Thanking everyone for their kind thoughts and Prayers for us. Elvis is purring on my lap now. He isn't eating a lot, but it's summer, too, and cats in our furmily always foodstrike in the heat.
Looking at my kittenpix of my sweet angel Suha and remembering how very ferocious such a little kitten could be.
Elvis showed his wild side last night, too. There was a big water bug in the bathroom for a couple of days, and this morning I found a small part of it in the tub. Fortunately, Elvis is none the worse for having eaten his prey. Mighty hunting cat. Suha approves, I know.

So sorry once again for the loss of Suha. :alright::redheartpump::redheartpump::redheartpump:. I hope it gets a little easier for you everyday. Keep encouraging Elvis to eat. Keep comforting him. I had a cat who stopped eating after she lost her BFF. It took a lot of TLC to get her to start eating and get back to her normal routine. Cats grieve too. I seen this first hand.

RIP Suha-Gone but never forgotten. ⚘

Oh yes. I hear you loud and clear as at least two times, we have had losses occur shortly after the first loss, not attributable to anything except that I believe they had broken hearts. Cats bond very deeply. Some say they are more sensitive than humans and I know they're more sensitive than a great many humans, without a doubt.
I am seeking Elvis out multiple times a day if he isn't with me, and giving him a lot of cuddles, which we both desperately need.

I am so sorry to hear about that. If anyone thinks cats are aloof and have no feelings and don't grieve the loss of their close buddies then they are sorely mistaken. I seen it with my own two eyes. My cat would not touch food, she was so depressed. I had to force food and fluids into her and try to get her spirits back up. She pulled through but it was a rough period for both of us.

All the best to you and your fur family. Cherish the memories of Suha. Keep her in your heart always. ❤
