hey guys so i recently got two bengal kittens. one boy and one girl. i got them at a little over 7 weeks instead of a few week later due to the lady we got them from having to emergency travel back to her home country. they are so sweet, smart, and sociable. they are the lights of my life and are helping me manage my severe depression. they are doing well and are good with each other. they share one box since their other siblings all shared a box together. they have no problem sharing the box. they both poop inside the box no problem. however, they both sometimes pee outside the box. i clean where they have accident very well and they don’t go back to those spots. i’ve been dropping them in the box often and i clean it everyday right now. one of them just peed on some cardboard so i ripped up a couple pieces of the wet part and put them in the box so maybe it will attract them to pee there. is that stupid? they are just babies so i’m trying not to be so hard on themselves, but i can’t help but cry bc i feel like i’m failing them.

Nope, this is very smart actually, and you aren't failing them :) if you have the space, try and set up a second box, this might help them.
thank you. i’ve only had them 3 or 4 days so i will give them a few more days to try to adjust and if they haven’t by then i’ll try this.

I agree with setting up a second box if you can. My cats like to pee and poop in different boxes.

Thanks for saving them 💕 That is great they are helping you 😀

Set up 3 boxes, you need one more box than cats. Make sure the litter is ok with them. Put wee pads everywhere and throw them out right away if peed on. My Sybil had a life long pee problem and she only peed on newspaper or wee pads.

You want to nip this in the bud now if they are young kittens. Whatever age when you see them peeing outside the box tell them not to do that and redirect them to one of the boxes.

It’s almost impossible to get urine smell out of things in your house. They will keep going back there. Scoe was the only thing I tried that works but that doesn’t work well for upholstery. For that or washing items I use oxiclean soaking in boiling hot water first for a while.

Two cats = 3 litter boxes, add some more, make sure they are low and easy to get into and a litter they prefer and always clean the boxes daily. Bengals can be quite picky about it ime and it's easier to prevent issues than fix them. Sounds like you are doing right with the cleaning and encouraging them to use it otherwise.

Nature’s Miracle or another enzyme cleaner is needed every time there is pee. A blacklight will show you if there is pee. For wee baby kittens, contain them in one room, when unsupervised. Give the babies a box or two in every room they go in (I like the disposable travel litter boxes.) In a month or two you can narrow it down to two boxes.

Since they are Bengals build a catio or start getting them harness trained now or in a month. If you don’t have any experience with a Bengal, a few people on this site own them .... and one person owns a bobcat. They can help you address the needs of your wildcat hybrid.
