I work from home. Everyday is take your cat to work day. Krista loved to park in the space between me and the keyboard. I called it her filling station. She would pull in and wouldn’t leave until she had her love tank filled up. New cat. New desk. Well. I got the desk first. And it’s too small. Whereas Krista would navigate the clutter, Betty sees it and says, “fluff it!” With Betty, she’ll show up at my feet and turn on the siren until I take a break and brush and fuss her until she’s had her fill. Not the worst as I could use these enforced breaks throughout the day. 😽👍

I don't think that would work at all. New place cats run for a hiding place. The cat that I adopted this past December is a very confident cat but she still spent a couple of hours under the bed when I first brought her home.

I'm a stay at home mom, so that's every day to me. And when I was teaching, the school year would be over, but probably wouldn't have been allowed.

It’s not out of the realm of possibility. Even dogs need obedience training. If you taught your cat to walk a harness, she would be more open to new adventures, new places, and new people. That’s not a guarantee. But that’s what I see from these adventure cats. I met my first taproom cat the other day. 🍺🐈

I'm still a student, so online lessons were often spent secretly cuddling with a kitty instead of actually paying attention.
I'm learning to become a social worker, and I want to work somewhere related to mental health. Having a cat there could be beneficial for some clients, but mine aren't the most social when it comes to people...

Sounds like a good day to me! I'd probably have been happier to go to work if there was a cat waiting for me there. Noodles used to sit in the chair next to me every day during school and I still miss that. I still keep books there because after she crossed the Bridge I kept instinctually reaching over to pet her. So I am all for class pets/cats at work!

There used to be a local woman who kept a blog about her very sociable Aby and his adventures, including going to work with her at a design firm. He was leashed trained and often rode in a pet stroller. I'm not sure how she handled the litter box issue and related odors. Did she keep a small box under her desk?

Where I work now, dogs are welcome. Some of the cat owners have posted on Slack about how they wish they could bring their cat to to work. Well, there's no company rule against bringing cats to work so in theory cats could be on site. It's the litter box and how well socialized the cat is that might be the issue. I definitely wouldn't bring either cat to work. Leroy would be zooming around non-stop eating everything he comes across (and likely throwing it back up because of his IBD) and scream at the top of his lungs :cringe: Emma would hide and stick her claws into whoever dares to bother her.

Toffee and Fudge hate leaving the house even just to go to the vets, so there'd be no luck getting them to do this.

It wouldn't work with my job. I'm a teacher for infants and young toddlers. My cat is only used to older children. Plus, we have a couple of kids who are aggressive so they'd likely go home scratched up.

What about businesses that have a resident cat? There's a pet store near me that has a resident cat who lives at the store. I know there are at least a few other businesses with resident cats, including a hardware store.

graycies vet has this guy and the lil female on the floor as their resident cats free roaming his office. far as myself i would never have taken a pet along to work with me before my stroke cat or not just to much exposure to pool cleaning chemicals(chlorine/acids etc) to risk it
