Drove 4 hours roundtrip on windy back roads in the heat to get my cat to the nearest vet who can give him an X-ray. Her summation? “He’s getting old!” I feel I‘m owed gas money, a sammich and $350.

schools make you buy the books now?yikes lots changed i 40 years maybe you can buy used copies like the way college kids do it sell off their used semester books
When I started High School back in '78 we had to buy our books.
We would buy them and had to turn them back in, unmarked (not sell them back) or we wouldn't get our diploma.

If you had to do half the work a new person was specifically hired to do, would you say something? Onboarding is done for the new person and he has prior experience and is fully capable of doing all the work himself without me assigned to do half the work by his manager (whom I don't report to) :mad2: I get teamwork and am willing to help if the new person asks but I have my own work to do which is not getting done. I may have overdone it with the cleaning last week because my back and wonky foot are in pain. Not fun to spend a summer weekend basically in bed :cringe:

I would talk with your manager and let him know how you are feeling. The two managers can hopefully get workloads figured out.

I sent my manager an invite. We're overdue for a check in anyways.

Got assigned to do more of the new person's work tomorrow :mad2: Right now instead of getting started with the work he's supposed to be doing, his manager is showing him an advanced technical procedure. :bat: IMO she should be making sure he's doing his job correctly and within our policies and expectations first before showing him technical stuff.

I kept hogging my bfs Nintendo switch and he said we'll have to get me one. I brought up that I play animal crossing to a close friend on the weekend (not knowing she had a console) and she said she has a console and that she doesn't use it anymore. She said I could have it for free because she was going to get rid of it anyway. So now I have my own!

My thought, exactly. Wishing you very well with your meeting. Were I your manager, I would tell his manager, "If MY employee needs to help yours, let me know. I and only I will make that determination, She has her own job to do, and that will be our priority."

i very much hate how people do not return shopping carts back to the store and make others have to go get them ! people make me angry sometimes
Don't you have those stall things in the parking lot where you take the cart, then the store employees bring them back to the store? We have those in every parking isle of every store up here.

Hiding indoors today from temps that are supposed to reach 99. Our Minnesota bodies just aren’t used to those kinds of temperatures.
I was born and still live in Arizona. 99° is hot, whether you're used to it or not. At that temp, the inside of your car can reach 150° and you burn your hand just trying to open the door.

I mean, I don't know how your store works, but at my grocery it's definitely the job of the workers to bring them in from the stall. I usually park next to one and put my cart in it and not bring it in myself.

And maybe they can't walk it in because they also have mobility issues, or a gaggle of small children, or any other reason. You should be annoyed at the store workers for not doing their job, not the individual shoppers.

I am completely over today. J elected to wake up at 6:30, the temperature is like 99° with a heat index of 108°, we played in the water table this morning, but she's been very fussy and demanding, and my chest feels a bit tight like it's hard to take a deep breath. And I keep feeling sad and frustrated lately.

Working on getting myself a new job within the Police Department. Four and a half years in Property & Evidence is about three and a half too long because "management" felt sorry for someone completely unqualified for this job and put her in here. I have three "higher ups" helping me get upstairs into the Criminal Investigations Section (where the Detectives work). I am hoping the process will be like it was when I got into Property. Fill out an application and then by-pass the entire process and get hired. The only thing I am worried about is the hours. I have worked 5am-1:30pm for almost 28 years. I know I probably won't get those hours upstairs but if I could get 7am-3pm, that would be great. Any later and I'd be getting home too late to have dinner on the table at a decent hour.

Or because it's over 100° and you're about to pass out from heat stroke. Not to mention that the cart is now blistering your hand from being in the unforgiving, brutal sun for 5 minutes.

Sorry, just venting from the heat. I should just give up and move to Alaska where I would be happy in the summer sun. I much prefer snow to this. However, today it's only 90°+, with around 30% humidity (according to my gauge) so it's rather nice out.

Gracie has been back upstairs 24/7 for a couple weeks now and last night, I thought we were going to have to start back at square one. I was unloading the dishwasher before heading to bed and was almost done. Next thing I know, Gracie is attached to my ankle and there was unbelievable pain. I screamed. Gracie ran. She had a hunched back, fur sticking straight up down her back and bottle brush tail. But she had her eyes locked on me and looked like she was going to attack again. Boone was bug eyed and started going after Gracie but my husband yelled at her to go back downstairs and shut the door. I had no idea why the attack happened.

According to my husband, Gracie was right at my feet and I stepped on her. I never felt it I guess which is weird because I always can tell if I step on the cats. The attack was her trying to get me off whatever part I was on. I have a deep scratch on the back of my heel and side/front of my ankle. Also a deep puncture on the other side of my ankle. Bled like a stuffed pig too. There was also a burning feeling like I have never felt.

I went downstairs to make sure Gracie was ok and that I didn't mean to step on her. I rounded the corner and she was hunched down like she was going to attack again. I sat on the couch and talked to her and she warmed up to me and started rubbing her head on my hand like she was saying sorry. Everything seemed back to normal. Since Boone acted like he was mad at Gracie for hurting me, I put him in my room with me and shut the door which he promptly flung back open and went into the living room to guard the downstairs steps.

Woke up this morning and no sign of Gracie which is unusual. Although she doesn't sleep with me and Boone anymore, she will come into my room as soon as she hears me get up. Got dressed and was 99% done putting my face on when Gracie walked into the bathroom. Boone seemed ok with her and I greeted her like I always do. Both ate their breakfast fine so I guess all is well again.

Definitely a weird end to the day yesterday though.

klunick klunick Please keep an eye on that bit, and scratch.

I ended up with an infection from a tiny puncture would, from Artie. I never thought about it. It was when he was high from there pain meds, after dental surgery. I was preparing his food--not fast enough. He was rubbing in and out of my ankles..then just out of nothing, he chomped on my upper foot.

I forgot about it for 10 day-- it was there, burning a bit, thought nothing of it.. Until it began getting very itchy, and kind of throbbing.. I looked down at it, it was swollen, and red. I ran to the ER, on a Friday night. They took me immediately. They do not fool around when it comes to animal bites. They had to biopsy it. I was on an IV drip, sent home with one antibiotic. When the biopsy results came in, the antibiotic was changed to a more appropriate one..

What I am trying to get at, is: Please watch that area closely. I did not...
