Hi everyone,

Im sorry if this is not the appropriate place to ask this question. I took my new bangal kitten to the vet at almost 13 weeks old. We had just gotten Merry Kit Cat the week prior. Anyway, I love my breeder and I'm 100% sure she knows when her Queen had her kittens. There were only 4 in the litter and I know she only does 1 litter per year. (maybe two) Anyway, because Merry Kit Cat hasnt lost any baby teeth the vet says she can't be the age that is stated on the breeder's paperwork. I'm serioulsy so mad about it. I thought they lose baby teeth starting as late as 4 months in some cases. Does anyone know? I also had Merry Kit Cat tested for FELV which gave a very faint positive. I'm taking her to another vet for a retest because mom and dad are negative as well as grandma which are in the same household so to me that is impossible. Im not sure if they did the serum or whole blood but im guessing the whole blood. Oh and the tech was insistent that the tests are accurate when they show positive which of course after talking to the breeder and researching for myself I found that to be a complete bs answer. I wanted to reach through the phone and choke her because she knows the trauma my family has been through with our pets. Anyway, I have to deal with this office until I find a vet that is accepting new patients. Sorry so long but In 3 years may pets have passed. I've lost my 3yr old Tonk to kidney disease 6 weeks ago, my 15 month old oriental shorthair to FIP, another 12 yr old oriental shorthair from kidney disease, my current 3.5 year old Tonk has a kidney issue and my dog died 3 weeks ago. I'm so mentally drained. Thanks for any help.

Almost every article I've seen about kitten teething says they start to lose their baby teeth between 3 and 4 months. Since your kitten is at the beginning of that time span it's likely that the age is correct and she's just going to be running toward the later time. I don't know what is typical in Bengal development.

I can understand your frustration with the vet. Unfortunately, not all vets are familiar with cats. If you can find one that is cats only, or at least listed as a feline specialist you'll probably be much happier.

There is no test that is 100% accurate. Some are close, but there's always a chance of getting a false positive or a false negative.

Good luck in your search for a new vet. :vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes:
