Hi, I really need your help to give me some advice... my cat name mentu. She was 9 month fully vacation. She was abandoned by her mother when she was only 2 weeks. I took her in and raised her, she my first cat. About 2 day ago, at 6am she wake up with me then she start vomit. The color of her vomit is yellow with some of her little previous food I feed her last night (I feed her wet food around 9pm)
After vomit she run to her litter box pee and poo. The color is OK and the poo also normal. But I try to feed her, she refuses. She drink some water then start vomit again. So I took her to the vet. The vet said she is doing fine but here are a lot of acid in her stomach. So the vet give me anti-acid medicine. When back home I try to feed her wet food, she doesn't eat, so I give her some treat she eat it. Then after 2h she vomit again. She doesn't drink or eat anything, even her favorite treat. So I take her to vet this morning again. The doctor do blood test and x-ray. Everything is good, just have acid and gas in her stomach. Doctor give her some iv, idk that call, one of her arm full of water inside (sorry for my bad english) Doctor told me to syringe feed her some food little my little and continue used anti-acid medicine and also give me anti-emetic. When arrive home, mentu drink water by herself, maybe she feel thirsty but after 10min later she vomited. I feed her some medicine then she rest all day. I try to syringe feed her food just a little ... after 1h she vomit the color is yellow. Today at afternoon after take medicine she goes to bathroom, pee normal and her poo was a bit soft. Now she look weak it was night time now... idk what to do She keep vomit when I feed her, and the doctor found nothing wrong with her, doctor said feed her medicine for 4 days and try to feed her. I try to feed her even a little bit she will vomit. She so weak now. She doesn't have anything inside her stomach. She keep sleeping all day. Please give me some idea.. I really love her I don't want to lose her. I syringe feed her water a few minutes ago since she refuse to eat and drink and she doesn't vomit now.

What is the food you have been feeding her? How long has she been on it? Anything different about it, new lot number, different brand, flavor, etcetera?

she always eat royal cannin wet for kittens since she was 3 month. i feed her only one brand never change her food. at morning 2day ago she vomit. since her refuse to eat, i blend her royal cannie food with some water and syringe feed her. she keep throwing up. so i feed her homemade food, chicken breast with rice cook no blend it. i keep feed her small amount every 1 or 2h. (around 3ml per a time) if i put too much she will vomit.

I am not sure how I can help, but do you have baby food meat you can buy (here, I can get Gerber Stage 2 or Beechnut)? It is just another thing to add to what you are already doing, but at least a bit of a deviation. Also, Pedialyte for infants -unflavored - can be used to help with electrolyte imbalances from the vomiting and not taking in enough food/water. This could be added to the blended food or the baby food meat you are giving her.

So she is able to keep a small amount of food in without vomiting? Have you given her the antacid and the anti-emetic? Did they di an xray to make sure she doesn't have some sort of blockage in her upper digestive tract? Since she is pooping ok, sounds like there is no blockage in the lower tract, but I guess she could have one higher, which is preventing things from getting all the way into her tummy. Not sure if that's possible of not, but perhaps you could ask? Otherwise, if she is able to keep a small amount down without vomiting, then I would feed her a small amount every couple of hours to see how it goes. She definitely needs nutrition at this point, that's why she is weak. Keep doing that for a few days and see how that goes, using the chicken and rice. If all goes well, then switch back to the cat food and see what happens, since the chicken and rice is not 100% nutritionally complete. OR, you could ask your Vet to prescribe some Hills A/D, which is a recovery food that blends with water extremely well for syringe feeding and has extra vitamins in it for cats recovering from illness.

Thank you. It also what i thought, she might eat s.th and it stuck somewhere so I took her to the vet yesterday. The vet already to x-ray for her, upper and lower part. Nothing wrong or stuck anything stuck inside her and they also do blood test too everything is good. They found gas and acid a lot in her stomach. I continued give her medicine. And also syringe feed her 3ml at a time. Take little break and continued. I keep and eye on her, and right now I don't see her vomit at all. But no pee yet... but seem better a bit. Better than yesterday.

I give her antacid and the anti-emetic following the vet.

I'm glad she's doing better and hope that contines. Also glad there is no blockage. Hopefully this is just a little bug she got and she'll get over it soon.

This. I am currently feeding my cat Gerbers chicken. She refuses anything else when she’s working on a hairball.

So you think this is because of a hairball? She will eventually need to start back eating regular cat food as baby food is also not 100% nutritionally complete for a cat. She can probably go for 4 - 5 days on this, but after that if she isn't eating anything else you will either need to syringe feed her cat food, or add nutritional supplements to the baby food. Some people use what's called "premixes" that they add to meat to make nutritionally complete cat food. You could add those to baby food meat to make it nutritionally complete. REfer to this link and scroll down to where it says Nutritional Supplements (Premixes): https://thecatsite.com/threads/home...hreads/home-cooked-cat-food-resources.264153/

No, the OP‘s cat obviously has a much more serious issue. I was just agreeing that baby food is sometimes all that a sick cat can keep down. I would agree that offering a tablespoon of it to the OP’s cat would be a good idea, just in case she has developed an intolerance to her regular food.

I, too, would like to know about the hairball issue.
My girl will go off her regular meals. She will accept only dry food, and baby food. This may go on for several days, until she coughs up a hairball, or gets rid of it in her stool. She seems to have an unusual amount of trouble with clearing a small amount of hair. I will offer baby food and some of her regular wet food on a plate, and she will eventually start eating some of her regular food again, until it’s that only, and she doesn’t need the baby food anymore.
