misty8723 misty8723 : Fly Away is book 2. Have you read book 1.
I misspoke. It was Firefly Lane I borrowed, and I've started reading it. So far enjoying it very much. Hopefully I can finish it before the 14 days since I also have a couple other books going. I guess I can re-borrow it if I don't. I'm also reading By the Hands of Men, Book 1, by Roy M Griff. That is Kindle Unlimited (the complete series) so it's no rush
By the Hands of Men, Book 1

And just starting The Sacred Promise by Gary E. Schwartz, PhD. That is hardcover, so no rush for this one either.
The Sacred Promise

And I've also downloaded the short stories for the May book of the month thread.

It's a pretty fast read, despite it being quite long, so you should be able to finish it in 2 weeks.

Have now finished "Swamp Santa," as well as "Bullets and Beads," "Gators and Garters," and "Fortune Funhouse," and am working on #20, "Frightfully Fortune."

The next book for my book club is: Cutting with Scissors".... about a kid from a dysfunctional family, who is taken in by a psychiatrist and his fully dysfunctional family... It is autobiographical ---but sounds weird to me.... not my cup of tea....

If you are thinking of "Running with Scissors," I can almost guarantee that you won't like it. I read it ages ago, and it was too much for me, and you know how I am! It purports to be autobiographical, but I have my doubts. I'll be interested to see if you agree with me that it is HIGHLY suspect!

Yes, That is the book... I got the title confused....
Honestly, I would never pick it up on my own to read it. I am about 5 chapters into it.. Weird.. just Weird...
I do not, at this early point in the book, believe it is an auto-biography.

It was made into a movie!! I cannot imagine that.... not a popular one, because I Neve heard of it.

If it continues in the same vain that it is so far, I am just not going to finish it. I may even return the book.

I really do not know who is picking these books.. If we get another clunker, I am just going to refuse it.... So far, none of the books have been well received. Even the book that I picked... Yes, it was controversial, but I did enjoy reading ti..
This one.... ugh...

I just started a book by E. O. Wilson, who was a biologist called "The Diversity of Life." About biological diversity and humans. I'm trending away from fiction for awhile. I'm a huge nature lover so this will be interesting.
Then I have "Barracoon," by Zora Neale Hurston, it's based on an interview in 1927 with the last known AfricanAmerican who had clear memories known brought to the US on a slaving ship in the 1800's. It wasn't published until 2018.

And, I will read "Flowers for Algernon" for the June Book Club here among all of the above!

You are right about it being a fast read, I just finished book 2.
That was fast. What did you think of them? I really liked book 1, but found book 2 a bit disappointing. I think probably since Tully spent
most of it in a coma. I did like learning about her mother's history, though

I enjoyed both of them, thanks for the suggestion! I wasn't sure I would, but spent most of the day yesterday reading book two. Which was good because I was just too tired to do anything else. I have read other books by that author, but not sure which ones at the moment. It would have been a long time ago.

I've read ALL of the Miss Fortune series. I'd packed the first six of the Sister Jane series by Rita Mae Brown to read in the hospital, but came home the same day till we get rid of the new clot...SO...I have read the first two of Nora Robert's Guardian trilogy, and am working on the third, "Island of Glass." They're ok. She's written books I liked more, but they're fine, and perfect for these couple of days when I've been not feeling my best. After this, I"m going to read Jana De Leon's "Ghost-In-Law" series. I read the first one YEARS ago, and got distracted. Time to go back and finish it. By the time that I do, I'll have the entire Sister Jane series on hand, and can binge it. OH...if any of you pick one up, don't be put off by the fact that it is about fox hunting. It is Virginia fox hunting, which means no foxes are ever killed by hunters or hounds, and generally a good time is had by all, including the foxes, some of whom appear quite proud of their ability to run the hounds in circles!

Have finished "Island of Glass," and started on "Trouble in Mudbug." For those of you who love the Miss Fortune series, yes, it is THAT Mudbug.
