I'm now reading "Destroyer Angel," and will finish it tonight...then on to the last book, "Boar Island." I've already brought out ALL of the Miss Fortune books and put them on my "to read" shelf. I'm going to run through them all again, and end up with the new one, "Flame and Fortune," for dessert! I should be starting "Louisiana Longshot" by day after tomorrow!

I just started reading By the Hands of Men: The Complete Saga by Roy M. Griffs. It is all 6 books, so this should keep me occupied for awhile. It was a Kindle Unlimited deal. Its a WWI story, and so far a page turner (or would that be thumb scroller?).

Robert Fitzgerald, an English Lieutenant, and Charlotte Braninov, an immigrant Russian nurse, meet scarcely a mile from the bloody trenches of World War One, where they witness the hell that the hands of men can create.

Ranging from the battlefields of France to civil-war torn Russia, on the streets of Shanghai and the jungles and deserts of Africa, to the wilds of Wyoming and the backlots of depression-era Hollywood, the memory of their brief weeks together will follow them for years as they cross the globe seeking peace.

Can love survive in a world staggered by war and revolution or in hearts scarred by loss and human duplicity?

Epic historical fiction, the six-book saga sweeps across two decades and four continents in a gripping tale of fate, loss, redemption, and love.

I'm well over half-way through "Boar Island," and may well finish it tonight. I'll be starting on "Louisana Longshot" tomorrow! Can't wait to revisit Fortune and friends!

A Companion for the Count by Sally Britton; book 2 in the Clairvoir Castle series.

I have been enjoying this on while I’m on the elliptical at night. I’m trying not to finish it too fast.

My bad. "Hook, Line and Blinker" is #10. Finished that, "Change of Fortune, "Reel of Fortune," and almost done with "Swamp Spook."

Am now reading #14, "Fortune Furlough," and will start on #15, "Country Fried Felony" later on tonight.
You're just speeding right along. Curious, and you can spoiler the answer if you feel it's necessary, by the time Fortune has reached her 14th "adventure", how much time has passed since she first arrived in town?

I got about 30% into the 2nd book, Lethal Bayou Beauty, before coming to the conclusion that I'm just not a cozy mystery fan.

So I switched genres completely and read Firefly Lane (Firefly Lane, #1)

And I'm about to start Fly Away (Firefly Lane, #2)

You know, I'm not entirely sure, but months, at least. And
she has retired from the CIA, Ahmed is dead, and she is now a PI

I'm now reading #15, "Cajun Fried Felony." I'll finish it tonight, and move on to "Swamp Santa."

BTW...Ida Belle and Gertie? There's a lot of BOTH of those ladies in me, personalty-wise. This may be why I love the books so much!

good to know things moved along.

Maybe I'll go back to it sometime. My library has most of the books, so it wouldn't cost me anything. We'll see...

For those who love that bit of slapstick, the later Miss Fortune books have more of it. For those who don't, quit while you're ahead!
Oh. Was hoping you were going to say the slapstick lessened in future books. Oh well. Guess I won't be re-visiting Miss Fortune.

It takes a really highly developed sense of the absurd to appreciate it, doesn't it, rubysmama rubysmama ? And I have one in spades. If you had known my family...on both sides...you'd understand why I get what happens, and how easily I'm able to believe it!

I just borrowed Fly Away from the library, it sounds interesting and I'm surprised there wasn't a wait. So now I have 14 days to read it.
