My mother's friend had a circular driveway with a drop into a pond in teh middle of it. I rode a bike over the edge. :cringe:

My brother managed to get run over by bicycle when we were kids. He wound up with a gash above his eye that bled like crazy. We were in front of our vet's house down the street when it happened. My brother went to get up and I saw the blood. I told him to stay down. I ran up the driveway and started ringing the door bell and pounding on the door. In my kid mind the vet's a doctor. He answers the door and he knew something was wrong right away. I told him my brother needed a doctor because he was bleeding on the side walk. He ran down the driveway to help my brother. He asked me to go into the house and ask someone to get me some clean towels. He told me to tell someone to call my parents too. He used to the towels to slow down the bleeding and kept my brother calm until my dad got there. They took my brother to the emergency room which was close by. The vet told my dad that my brother needed stitches. They got in his car and drove off with my brother. The vet went with my dad to stay with my brother and help deal with the bleeding wound. His wife actually called ahead to the ER and let them know the situation since my brother was going to be there very soon. She drove me home since my mother was actually in the shower at the time this happened. My mom was out of the shower when I got home and we went to the ER to meet my dad. My brother ended up needing stitches but was fine other wise.

Oh man, where to start. These were times when I was really little and I don't remember them, but my mom makes sure to tell me.

Put a metal pail on my head and put the handle down under my chin, thinking I was a soldier.
Had the fire dept. cut it off.
Climbed up a silkwood tree and couldn't get down
Fire dept. got me down
Climbed up to the awning by the roof and did a rain dance.
Mom couldn't get me down, so the fire dept. did
The fire dept. knew me personally.

And that was only a few years of my life. Once I got older, I could get myself out of stupid situations.

- Aged 2: stuck my head in a pizza oven at my godfather's wedding in Italy, and also ate all of the rice they throw for the bride.
- Aged 8: set my hair on fire as I leaned over by a candle on the table at a fancy restaurant
- Aged 2, at same Italian wedding: unplugged the disco at the reception (lets just say, I haven't been a bridesmaid since lol)

My other cousins husband is a fireman. I should ask him how many calls he gets for kids in situations of their own making. :rolleyes2: The city hes with has multiple small fire stations around the city instead of one big one. So we’ve been able to go visit him at work a few times. DS was like: 🤩🤩🤩. Once was right before our little bathroom incident. If we’d had to call the fire department he would have taken that as positive reinforcement. Too bad he wasn’t there when DS got his head stuck. We could say he had to be rescued by a fireman.

My oldcoworker told me her late Aunt and mother had been in the same nursing home with dementia. Her Aunt had to be closely watched because she’d pull the fire alarms to make them come to her!:lol: She had always loved them. A little too much I guess! Bless her heart!

The top two on my hit parade:
My older brother ran over my left leg with the rear tire of our tractor while backing it up to hitch up the hay wagon, while I was holding the wagon tongue up to align it with the drawbar of the tractor.
I was running around, chasing our mongrel dog, when he ran through a narrow gap in a brush row behind the cow barn. I tripped on something, and landed on my left knee- and onto a spike sticking up from an old beam. There I was, where I couldn't be seen or heard from the house, with that spike in my knee cap, down on all fours. I still don't know how I got myself loose, but I remember having to crawl back to the house. That knee still troubles me from time to time, nearly 70 years later.
