Iris with one of the yarn balls with which she's become obsessed. She's 17 1/2 and has always been quirky, opinionated, and independent. In the past year, she has gradually become more and more frail, extremely arthritic, somewhat clingy, with, I think, a touch of dementia. We all look out for her, including her seven-year-old "sister," Mocha.

"My yarn ball comforts me."

Mocha, age about seven, former feral. She's lived with us for three-and-a-half years and is one of the sweetest cats I've ever known. Loves her big "sister," Iris.

"I comfort her, too."

You can see the tips of her paws under her head too. She's alert and cautious awake, but if she's asleep in a safe space? You could bring an entire three ring circus into the room and she wouldn't wake.
Hahahaha cats

Haha I love when cats sleep like this
She was covering her little face with both paws right before this-i grabbed my phone to take a pic & she changed position. I agree its adorable, sleeping cats look like the comfiest creatures on earth :)
