My vision is blurry this week from being to the eye specialist but even I can see the beauty.
Perhaps the last rose of the season before true cold sets in, this is from Sarah’s Garden. A rose for us all.

Perfect timing for the Sarah's Garden rose. 🤗🤗🤗

Hope your blurriness clears up soon. :vibes::vibes::vibes:

Some of us may have had a bit too much catnip last night.

Oh, dear. Well, at least Muffin shared the nip with others. ;)

I think purrs keep me going sometimes.
Yes, they give us a reason to get up in the morning. They need us. :catlove:

I seem to shovel a lot more as I get older. Lol Just not snow. It would be better if we didn’t have to shovel though.;)
Ha! I can relate. It would be nice to not have to shovel our way through life. ;)

I grew up hearing the rhyme about red skies too. As I got older I learned it went back to a Bible verse in Mathew.
You'll have to share that with me some time, I never heard of it/read it.

She would require that you use the spin cycle on the washer a lot though. ;) Then you can shop together.
Deal! 👍

The past few days have been a part of the time I set aside each year for remembering the sunlight given to me.
That time has come around again? This year went by so fast...Sending love & prayers. :hugs:

we can draw strength from seeing and sharing the magnificence of nature and the sweetness of cats and good friends.
Yes, hopefully it gets us through. :crossfingers:

Do I have catnip in my fur?
Lovely pics of my Little Lady & Spicy Muffin. :cloud9:

I might be a little bit of a basket case right now.
Hee hee. You're so silly Whistle.

Yes, Jcatbird Jcatbird , Elvis loves to patrol and make sure all is well in here. He also loves to watch Cat-O-Vision through the windows and doors!
Oh, yes, M maggiedemi , it will, it will! Just keep looking UP and all around to be grateful for, and appreciate, all of the beauty we are given, free of charge, every day.

I will try to come back later but already having signal issues. We are in for a freeze over several days. This area is never prepared for weather like this. If the power goes out, I will not have water, heat or anything else so I am working to prepare as best I can. The rain is nearly freezing now! Brrrr! The ground is icy and sleet is in the area. Washing and filling water dishes, cooking up some extra food and locating all blankets and emergency supplies. I was expecting a cat food delivery but….. not sure if it will come but we have enough to get through. Thank you Chewy for sending the food for Mackie just in time!
I am thinking of others facing this storm who are not living in areas that stay prepared. Bring kitties/animals inside wherever possible! Put up tarps or other shelters if you can. Provide heat if possible. I have heat going inside the greenhouse here. There are blankets and high shelters inside for any creature that needs dry shelter. One catio is set up under the eaves of the house and it is as insulated as I could make it. May all creatures, great snd small, stay warm , fed and dry.
I will be back when I have done all I can here. If I cannot return for awhile, you will all be in our thoughts and prayers. Sending warm purrs. :purr: Warm hugs.:gingercat2: Love:lovecat3: and sunny smiles!:sunshine:

My boy is not really attracted to catnips. I bought his first catnip kickeroo when he was very young and before I could open the package, he was like hovering over it and when I opened it up and gave him the kickeroo, he went crazy and bunny kicking it and was salivating lots. After awhile, he stooped and he really stopped playing with it again. It's just like he drained out the kickeroo  Then I bought another catnip toy for him and he went kicking it once in awhile.

I tight he'll roll all over sprinkled catnip but no, he eats up all of them  So every time I call him and ask if he wants nip nip, he'll start meowing and following me to the fridge to get it and I'll take a pinchful and place it in his tent and he just enjoy eating them but never go catnip high:lol:

Hope the icy weather isn't too bad, and doesn't last too long. I know you southerners aren't prepared for it, but honestly, unless you have a generator, we northerners aren't much better off. Of course, our houses are likely better insulated, but once the power is off, they still cool down very quickly. And though we also have salt to put down on the roads, icy roads are dangerous even for salt trucks. So though I don't like blizzards, they usually cause less power outages than ice coated power lines and tree branches. Stay warm. And post when you can, just so we know you and the clowder are doing ok. 🤗

Things are icing over here, as well. I just put the third round of heated rice bags in the Secret Feral Shelter. I counted eight pussycats snuggled up in there. LOL, with that much body heat being generated, the rice bags may be overkill, but I won't take chances.
Glad the cats found the secret feral shelter. You, and Hekitty, stay safe and warm too. 🤗

Stay safe and warm...The power never went out last winter. I'm hoping for the same this winter. I just hate when the power goes out. It seems like you can't do anything without it these days.

TYSM tabbytom tabbytom ! I'm spoiled by having lived in the Mojave where we had SO MANY indigenous plants and lots of fruit trees and flowers. But this isn't too bad, either, I guess! I always try to grow food wherever I live, and I enjoy the colorful flowers, too.
M maggiedemi I hear ya there! When we have a power outtage I climb the walls and wander around from room to room like, "What do I do NOW???" I used to call my mom or another friend when we had hardwired landlines, but they're gone now and even the landline I keep for robocalls and nuisance calls goes down now. I'm not much of a game-player either, so that's out, too. Usually I just go in and spend time with Baby Su and Elvis in the master bedroom.
Mamanyt1953 Mamanyt1953 EIGHT! Good on ya for putting that caring into action for those sweet cats! and hoping you and Jcatbird Jcatbird are all up and running and safe and warm.

Well, no power lost here! I hope that Jcatbird Jcatbird is faring as well! We aren't out of the danger zone until tomorrow afternoon, and I'm putting bags in the shelter again tonight. I only counted five on this last go round, but they tend to come, warm up, then go out pussyfooting around again.

neely neely Muffin blocked the top of the temptations box until she was full! She did leave a little bit for others. That box was still sealed when I went to bed. I suspect that while Banjo was looking around online, she may have been munching on treats since she is the most adept at finding and opening treats. She probably left Muffin to take the rap for it. ;)

rubysmama rubysmama Thank you for posting the Sara Smile song. It holds many sweet memories and meaning for me. :heartshape:

Oh yes! Muffin shared the catnip! The whole crew was active all night. I heard many interesting noises throughout the house. When I got up, cats were in unusual positions and places. Lol It was sooo funny. They all ate a hearty breakfast. I found toys in odd places too. A mouse in every shoe.:flail:

M maggiedemi We do look forward to kitty mornings! They make sure we do! Lololololol Good Morning hooman! Breakfast?( Poke, poke. walking across tummy, chest compressions)

That verse about the sky is in Mathew. 16:2 - 3 , I think.

Lady and Muffin had quite a party! Lol Lady had nip all in her fur. Lol

Yes. That time came around again. Funny that the year flew by for some but it seemed to be a long one to me.

Whistle is soooo funny. He is the cutest little kitty! As sweet as they come. He has a lot of his Mommy and Daddys’ purrsonalities. His sister is sweet too but filled with spunk.

It can be tough when power goes out. I miss water the most! Hot water especially! During hurricanes the power can be out for a week or more. Cooking becomes a problem and food spoils. I totally sympathize!

tarasgirl06 tarasgirl06 Elvis has beautiful television to watch! Your garden is so gorgeous. I’m with you Elvis! I could sit in that window all day! Especially if you kept me company. :petcat:
Muffin did meet her match with that 30 ounce. Lol I think she might have put about twenty of it in her belly though! She looked a bit Roly poly to me! Hopefully she had help with that. They never get more than a few of those at a time! I think I heard her say “Oink!”

Thank you! We are all okay. It should get warmer mid week and then colder again next weekend. We managed to stay warm last night in spite of the sleet. I had cleaned the kitty beds, expecting to bring them in but….. they were a bit stiff! Lol Ice beds. It was super cold this morning but hoping for some sun tomorrow. Others had it worse. My friend (Buddy to BJ in past photos) lost power. It was back on today though. Hopefully others out there are okay too. I understand that north of us will be getting snow tomorrow.

I know what you mean about being without power. I don’t like being without the basics but I actually enjoy the peace. Everything is quiet and the frantic pace of everyday is no more. Lol If I have what we need to survive I can just sit and enjoy the kitties. It’s probably the only time I just sit very long. Lol A good book is great during these times if there is enough light to read. Old school radio run on batteries usually lasts a long time. I like that too.

tabbytom tabbytom January kicked the kicker? Lol The kitties here like to eat the nip too. Some don’t seem to go silly over it but others go wild. Muffin rolls in it along with Lady. Whistle gets very excited about it. Lately his appetite was off but I put catnip as a topper on his food and he started eating better. It makes a good appetizer when the kitties are a bit off their feed. Whistle will whistle up a storm if I have catnip in my hand.
Thank you! We still have power and water. It was cold last night but I had a cat blanket. Best thing to keep kitties and hoomans warm! :cloud9:

I got a delivery today of some of the cat food we need. The boxes were wet but I was relieved to get them! still looking for some things but we have enough for now.

Flybynight Flybynight Thank you! It wasn’t terrible. More cold is coming but the sleet stopped last night. I actually saw a little blue sky between the clouds today. A neighbor cat stopped by for wet food this morning and I obliged. I think she may have gone into the greenhouse to stay dry. Smart kitty!
Mamanyt1953 Mamanyt1953 Eight kitties in a warm pile! :) I bet they still liked the rice bags. The kitties here pile up but they still love anything heated. Lol It’s snuggly! I like it too! I hope it is warmer soon!

rubysmama rubysmama We are all okay. Signals were weak last night and it was icy here. I went outside and everything was crunchy with ice.
No. No salt trucks here and no snow plows. I think the worst thing here for people is that they don’t have heavy winter clothing. Since I moved here from a colder area I still have things like heavy gloves and knit hats. Warm under clothing too but a friend recently came by wearing light clothing in cold rain. She was shivering and does not own heavy coats. I had some clothing here from another friend and a sweatshirt happened to fit her. I made her a poncho out of sheet plastic and duct tape along with a rain hat. Lol Not pretty but staying dry under a heavy plastic poncho is extremely warm if you can stop the wind getting to you. She works doing deliveries and reported later that it worked well that night. She was a walking greenhouse! Lol Glad I had the plastic! I hope she managed to stay warm.

Lari Lari Lelia only likes the strong stuff! Lol Some catnip is not very potent. I find these cats don’t care for some brands but love others. I think it has to do with potency. I know they most love home grown whether it is fresh or dried. The Dollar General store sells some they really love. It is chopped and not powdered.:dunno:
Mamanyt1953 Mamanyt1953 We are sharing the same storm? We have cold predicted tomorrow too. I’m glad all is well there! It is nicer tonight without the sleet but temps are still chilly! The kitties there must be staying pretty warm if they are going out at times. They have you to thank for that. I know they are very grateful kitties! :catlove:

So glad you didn't lose power, Jcatbird Jcatbird , and you too, Mamanyt1953 Mamanyt1953 .

And, of course, most folks in the south wouldn't have clothes for winter weather. I remember reading about that last year when Texas had that ice storm. Us 4-seaoners are prepared for all weather, with closets full of things from blankets, hats, mittens, scarves and boots to tank tops, shorts, bikinis and flip flops.

I have all those things, btw, except for the bikini.

Enjoyed the smile post as usual, except I now I want some Cheetos. :yummy:

Oh man, this is why I don't want to live in the country. 😭

no snow plows.
That's terrible. 😲

I made her a poncho out of sheet plastic and duct tape along with a rain hat.
I can picture you doing this. :hugs:

I like the way you think Banjo! Except I would order cheese, not cheetos. 🧀

Well Banjo, I would but you didn’t share!!!
Awww, Banjo you should have gotten Whistle something. Free shipping if you order more...😉

I have all those things, btw, except for the bikini.
Tankini is better, shows less skin. 🏊‍♀️
