Sparkle comes out of the cat room after eating, I'm finishing up making my tea and my child starts waving something in Sparkle's face.

...it's a literal hairball. So gross. At least she didn't put it in her mouth, but I'm not sure where she found it so fast.

I must be heartless. I would have smashed that thing into the ground so hard she would have become part of the water table.
Me too. I have no issue with most spiders and will usually try to take them outside as most of them are actually beneficial to humans. That rule comes to a screeching halt with black widows. I have NO mercy for them.

Did you start one on people's resolutions yet?😄
So let's see...
I'm piddling time away because I have to some watercolor for cards I design; and my husband is still sleeping. I'm a distance away, but don't want to wake him all the same. He watches dumb shows.😥 By the way, put on Fatman for him last night & he loved it! Good Mel Gibson movie.
I'm pretty much left wondering.... What next? In general with my cats. It seems age has caught up to many of mine. Lost a cat 3 weeks ago. The other month had 2 diagnosed with problems. Hyperthyroidism & kidney failure. 2 weeks after my Cancer kitty passed, one of my older ones that has always had IBD was diagnosed with the same Cancer as last. So yeah. At this point it just feels like... What next?
I'm wondering when my husband's going to stop snoring and give me a good night's rest without the assistance of Ambien.🙄
And wondering if I'm EVER going to start that etsy shop for my art like my husband nagged me to do almost 2yrs ago.😂
What kind of art are you thinking of selling on Etsy? I just purchased some cat artwork from a vendor on that site.

I'm so annoyed at the post office. I ordered a jacket from Kohl's for DD. It was supposed to be delivered today. I checked the tracking and it said that it's being held at the post office by customer request. I can't imagine why she'd do that because she works during their hours and would not be able to pick it up. I asked her if she made the request and she did not. She's not the type of person who will rock the boat about stuff like this. I AM. I called the toll free number and eventually I was able to talk to someone. Not by phone. By text. Otherwise it was a 30 minute plus hold. All we want is for the package to be delivered tomorrow. She told me she'd send them a message and I'd hear back in 2-3 business days. I asked if she could message them to just have the carrier take it tomorrow. She did not ask for it to be held to begin with. She said she would. Let's see. 😣😒

The Post Office in some locations service is horrible. I recently mailed a small box from Iowa to Virginia it took twelve days to be delivered. What should have been four days took twelve.

I know. I stopped using them for packages a few years ago. I sent a package to my DD in NC from here in Florida. What should have been two days (as it had been before) took about a week and a half. It sat in Orlando for 3 days. Then it took 2 days to get to Raleigh. It SHOULD have gone to a local PO from there and then out for delivery. Instead it went to Greensboro (about 3 hours west) where it sat again for 3 days. Finally it went back to Raleigh and then to the local PO for delivery. I needed to send her something else a couple of weeks later. I decided to price UPS ground. They were cheaper than the USPS and they got the package there in less than 48 hours. I've been using UPS ever since. Unfortunately, Kohl's decided to use USPS with this package.

I had been hoping that it was just a mis-scan and it would be delivered today. It wasn't. It's still showing on hold. :angrycat:

I wonder if NC is having continuous issues. I just got back a Christmas card I sent my cousin at least a week before Christmas. It had a yellow sticker saying her street doesn’t exist. :dunno: She told me she has packages go missing about once a month and then they magically get found when she files a claim. I had something sit in NC for a weeks when everything was a mess in 2020; but I just figured that was 2020 being 2020.

I think we all need to forgo using USPS. On January 6th I sent a pkg. From Iowa to Virginia. What normally takes 4 days took 12. The pkg. Arrived on January 18th. So on January 17th I sent another pkg. To the same Virginia address. This time I used UPS. I was notified by UPS that the pkg. Was delivered today January 20th.

As for USPS, I'm in NC, and haven't been having MUCH of an issue. Things have taken a few days longer occasionally. What I have been having a REAL issue with is FedEx and UPS delivering packages that came right on time, but were heavily damaged. We're DOOMED!

well i mailed off a care package to Mamanyt1953 Mamanyt1953 this morning and cant wait for her to get it !
Neither can Mamanyt1953!

I'm the opposite. I'd rather be hot. You can take a cool shower and central AC is a requirement here.
I lived in Florida for about 20 years. That's where we went when we left Alaska. Of course, when we first got there, there was no central AC except in businesses. I can still remember my mom walking me downtown to eat lunch in the Woolworths (with its sign on the door, "It's KOOL inside," advertising the cigarettes) and then to a matinée at the theater, because both were air-conditioned. And I can remember the first house I was ever in that had window ac's, and how I envied them.

. But there's a limit. 29 degrees can be quite pleasant. Below zero. . .no.
When we were in AK, Dad's unit used to go on survival excercises. They dropped them into wooded areas with rope, a tarp, and knives, and left them for 10 days...unless the temp dropped to 40 below 0.

Try Phoenix in July. And if you like hot AND humid (112° w/85-100% humidity), there's always August.
Sounds a lot like Louisiana, where I lived for a couple of years following my first marriage. Not quite 112 degrees, but in the high 90s, and humidity almost always over 90%.

I don't have the heart to move her, I guess I can throw it away later......
Turn it into a cat bed. That'll guarantee that she'll immediately lose interest, and you can throw it out without guilt!

I actually love our local postal workers. The one who delivers my mail is really nice. She even took a minute to answer DS’s questions about her truck after handing him our mail. He was beaming! ☺

I use a couple different post offices for shipping and they have been great at both. Very friendly and helpful. The last time we went both my kids walked out with a Christmas pencil and eraser. DD looks older than she is; but the lady didn’t leave her out. Another one saved me quite a few dollars when I had to ship a textbook set back to the publisher. She knew a better way to send it. It turned out she had homeschooled her kids; but they are all in college or beyond now. So it was really nice and encouraging to meet her. Especially while in the thick of some challenges here.

I work for USPS. There are a TON of employees out right now with COVID. Of course I don't know what the situation is specifically in NC, but here we've been doubling up on routes and generally operating in run-around-like-a-headless-chicken emergency mode. So it's possible that route didn't get delivered that day, not sure why they'd scan it as customer hold but they had to scan it something.

And, like most employers, USPS has been losing employees due to the labor shortage---other jobs offering decent wages, and management with low-to-no people skills causing a hostile work environment. There have been heavy losses in some offices.

There are also things the new PMG did to slow the mail down, for political reasons. The rest of that thought belongs in IMO :angryfire:.

Last year's Christmas slowdown was caused by backups at the airports, mostly due to COVID staffing issues. The way the seaports look now is how the airports looked last year. That was a disaster.

Amazon lost one of my packages. I've never had that happen before, with any carrier. Late, yes. Damaged, yes. But never totally lost. The scan said "package arrived at an Amazon facility" on Jan 9th and then there were no more scans. Weird. I picked the cancel option but they still haven't refunded it.

I have had an issue with a couple of items from Amazon, just not arriving.
I put in a request for a refund. Only one item, was a fraud, and the seller never commented back.
Recently, I ordered something 12/27---never received it.. said it was shipped..
The seller was very upset, agreeing to a refund, and was apologetic about it.

Mamanyt1953 Mamanyt1953 did you get any snow? or ice?
