Hi all,
I'm starting to have some problems with the many passwords I have to use for my accounts.
Different email addresses, forums, online stores, online services, etc.
I know that the advice is not to use the same password for all accounts, but it's also impossible to have a different password for each account, and then remember them all. So, very often, I tend to forget the password set for a certain account (especially when I seldom use it) and need to hit the "forgot password?" button to reset it.
Do you have any advice to create and remember secure passwords for several accounts?
Thanks!

I just use password managers. I used to use keychain before I had to use non-Apple tech at work, and I use 1Password now.

I have a few methods. I save my passwords to the locked file of a utility app I have on my IPad, with a back up of passwords to a encoded Excel file on my computer. i also have a few I have my IPad save.

I use a password manager. I personally use Dashlane, however I’ve heard Lastpass has a decent free tier.
It seems that both your suggestions have a similar plan, at a similar price.
What I wouldn't like, though, is have to pay for a service. The free tier gives access from one device only. So if I have a phone, two PC's at home and one at work, I should by a premium package, which I wouldn't like to.

What scares me the most about these password managers is that if they discontinue their services for any reasons, and they have generated a secure and complex password for you, you might be locked out your accounts for good.

I use the same password for all but add the first letter of the site before the password. For example facebook=fxxxxxx. Thecatsite=txxxxx

This is the solution I was considering.
A strong "root" for all my accounts, like Gh_852A (or anything I can easily remember) and add "TCS" or "AMA" or "GMA", etc at the end of it.

if you have windows and Excel or Word, both have the capability of password protecting a file and both are relatively safe from hacking.
What I need isn't to protect a file, my need is to find a manageable way to create and remember all my passwords for forums, emails, online shops, other online services.
A few of these I use seldom, and I keep forgetting the passwords.

what I was saying is that you can store all of the passwords you have for each website in an excel file, and then password protect it. When you can’t remember a password or if you create complex ones you can then copy and paste it from your excel file.

I have a set of passwords that I use based on a rather obscure game with 150 level passwords.

Then in my bookmarks, I amend the name to 'site name - [first character of password]'. That's enough hint for me.
