Hi guys I am new here and need some advice. I feed my wet food and dry food. 1/4 cup of each. Well she has been doing fine on that until yesterday when I saw she threw up the first time. Then I didn't think much of it cause occassionally she does it. Then after I fed her that same night she threw up even more. Then this morning I saw that she threw up a little more. So I have no clue what I should do. She is acting perfectly normal otherwise. And after each time she threw up she goes back to continue eating like usual and she has been drinking water and her stools like normal and she is peeing normal too. My parents kind of have a thing against vets so I'll only use vet as a very last resort. I feed her a mixture of both wet food and dry food. 1/4 cup of each. I don't know what I should do? Should I skip feeding her for one night? I heard you should feed in smaller amounts throughout the day but my cat been on this schedule for like 10 years so knowning cats change in feeding schedule can upset them. I heard to warm wet food in the microwave. But only issue is I don't have a microwave. I also heard to keep it out at room temperature but idk for how long and I heard if it is out too long bacteria can start growing so I am pretty much stumped on what to do.

If she is 10 yrs old and has started throwing up she needs a vet visit. See how she does tomorrow. If she's back to normal maybe it she was simply trying to get fur out. Do you brush her, give laxitone ? Is she hiding?

She’s a short hair cat so I do brush her but only occasionally or when I think her fur needs it. And I have no idea what a laxation is so no I do not. And she’s not really hiding. I mean she stays up in my room all day and then goes downstairs during evening to come find me. But she’s been that way her entire life. I just gave her some of her wet food only just to hopefully see if she doesn’t throw up. And will try to feed her back normal feed tomorow if I notice she hasn’t thrown up. Her throw up had bits of food in it so it has been happening after meal time.

Cats can devour a lot of food in a short period of time. When the stomach wall expands too fast, a signal to the brain is transmitted, resulting in regurgitation. In many circumstances, the mess on your floor is caused by regurgitation rather than vomiting. When a cat regurgitates, he pulls liquids and food from his esophagus by opening his mouth, as opposed to vomiting, which involves choking and retching. Food that has been regurgitated is still formed and may smell sour.

just what I found by googling. I think the cause may be that she eats too hast. I'd suggest visiting vet.

Vet will check her teeth. Does she have any redness on her gumsor her breath smell?

Another vet recommended but more expensive
One of my cats does not have a rough
toungh so the one from Amazon she can't lick off

she had her teeth checked out fairly recently so I don't think it has anything to do with her teeth. She already had 1 tooth pulled. I also kiss her face all the time and I didn't notice any bad breath. Didn't check her gums yet though.

Hi. If this just started occurring, could it have to do with a food change? Or food going bad? Does it happen with both the dry and the wet food? Good that you are testing giving her just the wet to see what happens.

It would be helpful for you to keep a close eye on her and determine how far after a meal she is throwing up. If very soon afterward, it could be either eating too fast, or too long of a time has passed between meals and the stomach juices collecting in her belly irritates the lining and the food doesn't go over well then causing her to throw it up. If it is quite a while after eating, then food that has gone bad, a hairball partially clogging her stomach, or some more serious issue could be the cause.

Also, it might help to elevate her food bowls so that she is not having to lean over as far to eat. That can sometimes create an issue in older cats who tend to be just like older people and start to have digestive issues just by nature of their age. You can also give her a dab of butter or margarine to lick off her paw or from your finger for 2-3 days in a row to see if that might help a hairball to pass through her system. Or a couple of drops of olive oil in her food. For maintenance purposes you could continue to do one or the other a couple of times a week going forward.

I been giving her the same food for quite awhile now so not a food change. Though idk if different flavor of the same food counts as a food change but I usually switch up the flavors all the time. The food is still fresh and hasn't expired. And I have noticed it happens alot more with dry food. And yup she did not throw up last night after I gave her the wet food. She ate all of it too which was good. So I am assuming it could be the dry food. I am going to give her the usual wet food and only less of the dry food tonight to see if she goes back to throwing up. But so far wet food alone was a success! I noticed it usually is soon after I feed her but only occassionally. Sometimes she throws up the next day and I go up to my room and just notice it but again this only happen twice recently. I used to have her bowl elevated and it didn't seem to prevent it from ever happening. In the past I found if I don't feed her for a day she gets over it and goes back her usual for months at a time. My cat is 10 but she doesn't act like a old cat at all. In fact if you saw her you would never guess she was 10. She looks so young and very active and still very playful. Whenever I tell ppl she is 10 they look at me so suprised lmao. She is a all black cat too so black cats typically I would think get grey when they age but she doesn't have a tint of grey it is pretty amazing actually. Oh the butter trick I never tried before but I will try that! Though idk if my cat would let me put them on her paw xD. She is kind of a diva lol. I'll probably put it on my finger and see if she licks it.
