I've been too busy (on-line training course and preparing for a completely new kitchen) to keep up with all the happenings on this thread. Just let me say, I hope that everybody facing crises at the moment soon find some way out of the present situation and can begin to look forward to happier times. My very small "crisis" is having to say goodbye to another foster, Tiffany - though I am happy that she will be an only cat - at least until she's learnt to accept other cats (there are quite a number of friendly outdoor cats in her new neighbourhood.

gilmargl gilmargl Of course we are interested!!!! This is fantastic news! We always want to hear about lives saved. She is beautiful. Thank you for saving her and the babies. Funny you should ask about names. @strider rose started a thread of A to Z cats names as a game.......There are lots of names listed there. Tiffany is one that might fit since she has beautiful colors like a Tiffany glass window.

An update: Tiffany will be leaving for her forever-home tomorrow! I will certainly miss her though my own cats will be pleased and relieved. She prefers her own company and growls whenever she comes across another feline. She continues to eat only in the room she occupied with her kittens and nothing will persuade her to eat with the other cats or share their food. She spends most of her time in the living room stretched out on the couch (so that no-one can join her) and even Emily, my most aggressive cat, doesn't dare go near her.
Goodbye Tiffany - you were an excellent mama, your children were the easiest, cleanest kittens I've ever rescued from the streets. You've put on weight but only to become extremely muscular; you'll soon be able to run around outdoors and perfect your hunting skills. I know you are good at that but please don't kill too many birds, it won't be necessary - you'll be fed!

So very happy for lovely Tiffany! Although it hurts to say goodbye, it also bring great joy when a cat finds a loving permanent person/family and home! :hearthrob: :lovecat4::hearthrob:

clean clothes and linens are such a simple pleasure but if you don't have the way to achieve it, it can be a major headache
I can relate! Hardest thing I've ever had to endure. Hopefully someday I'll get away from her & get my own washer. :(

She was a very strange person!
Yeah, we've got one of those here! She can't be reasoned with, no matter how hard you try. :headshake:

I'm currently keeping my water heater turned off when I'm not bathing or washing dishes. Saves a good $25 a month on my power bill, but it's a bother, turning on and off at the breaker, remembering to turn on 30 minutes before I want to use it.
We used to do that! But we stopped. I guess because it's hard to remember to turn it on, then you get a cold shower. 😲

hence the sweepstakes caveat. At that point, it would be a drop in a large bucket.
I know! I actually have a lottery list of who I would share it with. Some fall off the list though...;)

Some of us northerners are currently getting a cold snap.
Is that what they are calling it? I call it torture! 🥶

I hope that everybody facing crises at the moment soon find some way out of the present situation and can begin to look forward to happier times.
Thank you. I hope so too. 🙌🙏:crossfingers:

Just try to hold in your mind that change is the one constant of life and that somehow, some way, some day, life will change for you, too. Keep looking UP and find the Light, and the light, whenever and wherever you can. That's always been my philosophy of life -- no matter how bleak and barren any situation I may find myself in may be, I look around and try to find SOMETHING that is either beautiful in and of itself, or that I can make that way.

tabbytom tabbytom The cushion covers are precious! We could all meow together forever!
The luxuries are so great to have. I have always had a full appreciation of them but a reminder never hurts. Lol

Mamanyt1953 Mamanyt1953 Please do keep us updated as you explore the treatments for Hekitty. I do know how hard it is to get assistance but , one step at a time.
I did consider a tankless heater but with so much going on here, washer, van, foot, eyes, vets and tank, I was just very grateful to get that one. I got one that should function well on the well water here. Hopefully less mineral build up. That is a big issue here. It is extremely well insulated too. As economical and environmentally friendly as I could get.
When you win the lottery, we can always donate that one. Thank you so much for thinking of me and the kitties with that! Warm heart here! :heartshape:

N NY cat man Thst was a weird way to cover the water heater. Apparently there had previously been a gas water heater there. The cabinet appears to be original to the house. Strange. I have no idea how or who got that thing in there to begin with! Poor cabinet. Cut. Oh well. Far better than not having hot water! Lol
We are dealing with similar problems. Flowers is being reclusive now. She came out last night so I slept beside her. She was purring but I see it in her eyes. She is still waiting. Banjo still calls him and Whidtke wasn’t eating. I put catnip as a topper and that started him back eating but his appetite is still off. Mitsy is dealing with it better and so is Thrasher but the whole group dynamics have shifted. Flowers did try to cuddle Dolly but it wasn’t very successful. When things get caught up here, I am going to shift a few cats around to see if she could bond with Marcus. It may not work but he is a real lover too. I just keep working with them. Time. I am thinking that when Spring comes, that will help. Mackie is the one most affected by Smokey being gone. He is just insisting on being right in the middle of whatever I am doing. Like humans, they all deal with it in different ways.
The photo is lovely. Sunshine on kitties! Kitties are sunshine.:sunshine:

neely neely Glad to hear that Carleton is doing well. I hear great things about that treatment.

M maggiedemi Banjo says you can do the fluff and fold. Lol Sge also said that if you fold and make a lap, she’ll let you fluff her.
It’s not that we love having fur on our clothes, it’s just that it comes with the territory do might as well find a way to deal with it. Lol
Some people have found real used for it. It is gathered and made into yarn! Kind of like wool.

Maybe you and Banjo can do all the shopping. That would suit me! Lol Just don’t forget my food!
You know, mountain climbers do connect during a climb. Safety for both. I have had lots of practice . ;)

Awww. Thank you! That is so sweet that you and Mamany would help me. It’s a great comfort to know I have people who would help if they could. The kitties are all purring at that.:cloud9: On hard days, things like that lift me up.

rubysmama rubysmama The losses have left my heart aching. Of course. Smokey was special and my connection to Sarah and BJ was just such an amazing cat. He was my hero. I think he was a hero to do many of us. We got so lucky that he let us know his giant heart! Feral. Heh. It hardly seems possible now that there was a time when I thought he would eat me up. I think cats put on a disguise to fool us hoomans. When they know we are friends they remove the mask. BJ traded his in for a nice hat.:) A true gentleman kitty. When I get hit by missing him, I revisit some of his pictures that demonstrate his sense of humor and his therapy cat persona. They still make me smile and I know he would like that. It’s harder helping the Clowder to adjust. I try to make them enjoy something too. It distracts them and gives them time to heal.

Dear Bashful. I am hoping that healing goes there too.

I think my laundry has forgiven me now that it had a nice warm bath. Lol

That cartoon about the cold made me laugh my….. well, let’s just say that I am sitting on a hamburger bun now?;)

Banjo has not snitched the van yet. She knows we have possible snow in our future so she is looking at instructions on how to use a snow blower. Hmmmm. I wonder where she would pile the snow? Look out neighbors!

tarasgirl06 tarasgirl06 The cabinet does have permanent damage but it’s patched well enough now. I happened to have some metal braces on hand that I was using in my catio building attempts. Lol They worked nicely.
The tank is the most efficient one I could get right now. I was lucky to get one so quickly and to get that plumber do quickly. The owner of the company came by himself to help when he learned of the kitties! I was his extra pair of hands. Lol As it turns out, one of his sisters rescues in another state! I got very lucky! As you know, hot water and having the ability to clean more easily is such a relief! I have spent time in places where no one had water heaters so , doubly blessed to have this.
If some ,”unnamed” person got some buying in…… bravo! They were smart! :clapcat: Cats will eat.:catman: That’s a happy thing!:) I am supposed to have some Mackie food coming. Waiting and feeding him other food for now. Getting by. I will stay on the hunt.

M movinintime Thank you for stopping in to let people know I got delayed. I really appreciate it. We would love to hear about your experience with treating Sylvie for thyroid problems if you can get a signal.

muffy muffy I agree! Beautiful kitties and so precious. They live in a place of love and it shows!

gilmargl gilmargl Doing all that kitchen stuff and kitties?!?!! Wow. Oh my. Saying goodbye to Tiffany? So bittersweet. This is not small. You poured yourself into her and the babies but because of you completely unselfish act, lives were saved. Now she goes out on a path, well prepared for wonderful new adventures as a heathy and strong kitty. You gave her that. You gave her everything she needs to live a happy life without the struggles of an unspayed mother in a hard world.:alright::heartshape::clap2::rock::lovecat3:
May her path be filled with all the beautiful colors of a Tiffany light. She will shine! My heart is with you. Bravo my friend! Having had a chance to visit kitties that left me years back, I can tell you that she will always remember the light and love you gave her. :sunshine:

M maggiedemi The advice that tarasgrl gives is very good. I hear something in it that sounds familiar. The light. It is above and inside. Shine your light. ;) It will illuminate beautiful things around you.

I always try to buy anything that is cat related like cups, plates, floor mat, fork 'n' spoon and such. Sometimes such things only comes once and you don't get to see the nice designs anymore. So better grab them if I like it :insertevillaugh: ...................

The weather here is weird! The wind today was fierce! It was rainy and cold too. We have possible snow predicted for later this week. These kitties are semi tropical cats! Some remember the snow we had a few years back and they did not enjoy it. They did not understand why white stuff fell from the sky and covered their grass. How dare it! They are mumbling among themselves now. How can they rid their world of invading white cold bugs that stick to the ground?!?!? Banjo has the solution.

Snow? I have heard from the older kitties about that stuff. Mom told me she saw it once. Sky ice!
B3649500-CB05-4C3B-8D80-8C7211D1473F.jpeg

I’ve been looking into this. I know what I need.
7169F969-0965-4354-99FE-11E56505156C.jpeg

A snow blower!
6B81A638-DA31-41BE-A91D-B53A39888B11.jpeg

They make some you push. The handles are too high for me though. See how long my legs are? I would need to walk on stilts and push!
606B9EAE-AC66-4665-8F12-8A7A2181DC14.jpeg

I found a better option! The Deere company makes one I can drive! Heh. I want that one. I could just keep the keys and do all the snow blowing without bothering you. I can order it online.
A412B880-2CA7-4736-AFD8-74F9D7508E31.jpeg

It can throw snow up to fifty feet away! I can just see myself driving it and I know just where to throw the snow!
1AA7BFC8-99B5-4604-B583-C9AF3DC54F90.jpeg

I’ll invite all the neighbors over for a snowman party!
Banjo!!!!!!!! I know what you’re thinking snd that’s not what a snowman is!
F951DC16-F133-43FD-89FD-823924921ACA.jpeg

I can’t make snowmen out of the neighbors that yell at cats? I thought that’s what you do with snow! ⛄

Okay. Now I have to show Banjo how we make snowmen. Lol Maybe I need to “Freeze” my credit card for awhile?

Yes, the only thing I don't need to get is 'Fur-niture' My boy supplies them................ :flail:

Well, Banjo, 🎼🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶Mew along with me: "It doesn't have to be a snowman!" but I like your idea there. Very much. Making something good out of something bad is a PURRiority here, too. :agree:
It does look like a good water heater, Jcatbird Jcatbird . Large capacity, too. Hopefully it will serve you all well for many years. They are so $$$!
Cat-themed things? OH YES. I think there are some in every room in this house. The latest? Some BUBwear, 2 BUB mugs, a BUB stationery kit and a new BUB mask. When life is harsh, BUB brings love and smiles. And exciting news: There's a new member of BUB's family! I'll leave it up to everyone out there to investigate. And I'll just say this: He's absolutely adorable, like BUB.
As for feral cats, we KNOW that a cat's nature is to be loving and fierce, in different measures depending on the individual personality. Baby Su is deeply bonded to me and very affectionate. Elvis would like her to be that way with him, too, but he gets the "fierce" side when he tries to get close to her.

I woke up this morning to discover that winter had put in an appearance, and not just the dusting that we had previously received. No, this time we got, at least so far, over 18in., and it's still coming down. Life in WNY. Yay.

By the way, that house has a flat roof, not a peaked one.

About cat things, I just bought myself a new mug. Already posted a pic of it in the coffee & tea thread, but for those who don't follow that thread, here's a small pic of it.

Yikes! That's a lotta snow!!! Maybe if Jcatbird Jcatbird can spare her, Banjo can visit you and help snow blow it onto your neighbour's property out of your driveway. :bicolorcat:

We're supposed to be getting wind and rain today, so no shoveling or snow blowing, and hopefully no power outages or flooding either.

Just say the word, and maybe we can convince mother nature to divert some your way. Though with climate change, that just might happen anyway. :sigh:

Good thing that the wind did not blow the snow right into the cat shelter else the cat will be snowed in

That picture was taken after I had shoveled the deck. Prior to that, the snow was almost as high as the shelter itself. There is a baffle inside to block most of the wind and snow.
