My Feral And Rescued Cats

The old feral Tom that saved a life.

This is inside the shelter I had put up for him. After he began to trust me, he allowed me inside. It was really pretty comfortable. It was heated and the floor lined to prevent moisture from seeping up. His bed was elevated off of the floor. The tent I made was large enough for me to lay down. I began spending many evening hours keeping him company and we did some star gazing together.

This was taken after he saved Bonnie. He started talking to me a lot after he brought me the kitten. I think he was asking about Bonnie. I started letting Bonnie visit him every day once he was well enough. Bonnie always perked up and his rescuer always seemed content after those visits. To me, he looks like a very wise old soul. Who could ever resist loving him?!

Bonjour is so excited to be included as a featured kitty, he decided to show off his zoomie capabilities. He is a wild and fluffy panther tonight! Lol

neely Awww! I’m so glad you both enjoyed the story of how Bonjour was saved by Marcus. That old Tom was so smart. The current “Marcus Trax” bears some resemblance to him physically and he also saved a young kitty. He doesn’t seem to know any French though. Lol Yoir husband is an Bonnie friend now? Bonnie must have picked up on that because he has been showing off all day!

Yes, we both thoroughly enjoyed Bonjour's journey. And Marcus was not only intuitive but handsome as all get-out! Thank you so much for the pics of him inside his heated shelter. As for the current Marcus Trax, maybe he needs to start listening to Duolingo to learn a little French. Glad Bonnie has been showing off his Superman moves and acrobatics, does he have a Lois Lane?

Welcome to TCS! So happy to hear you are taking care of homeless kitties. I also feed homeless kitties. My numbers are surging ( all areTNRed). I work hard to make sure everyone gets a good meal. You are very blessed to have such a good pet store who can give you a break. I wish I could buy cans at 25 cents but everything is pretty expensive in my area. I put up a thread in The Cat Lounge regarding the Cat Food Shortages that have been going on. These are challenging times. It can be a struggle to feed homeless kitties, but it is also a labor of love.

Thank you sweet friend! It is a labor of love but one that’s so important to me. I’m a single gal and don’t have kids so I think I’m in a unique position to be able to help I just went to the same pet store, Petco, last night and loaded up!!!!!!! I was so excited and thankful to the amazing employees who keep me in the know! I’ll post a pic of my haul…all for less than $50!!!! I have to buy wet food mainly because there’s older guys and, as others have spoken to, they have dental issues.
I always recommend calling your local pet stores and getting on personal terms, lol
They pretty often clearance perfectly good food just to make room for new product.

That "old feral tom" looked very handsome and sweet to me -- cuddle-able, actually, if he'd been of a mind...and very kind of him to share the tent. Looks like a very inviting tent, to be sure.
And Bonnie? SuperCat! Absolutely! The hooman firefighter was a little slow on the uptake -- maybe because he was an actor? but Bonnie didn't need catching.
M maggiedemi I liken being strong and independent, often, to throwing oneself off into an abyss. It's frightening. It's the unknown. It's daunting. But once you do it and get there, you know it's the runup that's the scary part. And once you've gotten there, you feel confident that you can do it again next time it's necessary.
And no home I've ever lived in has been peaceful all the time, but when you live in one that's seldom that way, anything is an improvement and worth the effort to attain. There will be disappointments along the way. But all in all, it's better than what came before, if you have serenity and comfort SOME of the time.

Jcatbird Looking at Bonjour trying to get down from top of the Catio made me think of this video. This would be so awesome if you were able to do that to your home. Kitty Paradise.

I will be posting on my thread momentarily. I went to my local supermarket (that is a Regional Chain in the North East) and the cat food aisle was practical decimated. I got the last case of 32 cans of Friskies. I also got some individual cans, but the aisle barely had anything much. I will post a pic on my thread.

I really hope this is not due to more rounds of shortages. Well, thank you for taking care of kitties. It really is a labor of Love.

I just posted an article I read a few minutes ago about the global problem. It's a big 'un and it seems that so many in charge of getting things done are using any and every excuse in the book not to. Really, really disgusted.

They'll use every excuse. Some are valid; some are not. Bottom line, FOOD is a BASIC NECESSITY and NOTHING should stop the supply chain from getting it dispersed. SHAME, indeed.

neely Marcus was a sweet old gentleman. I wished he had agreed to come in sooner but I guess there was a language barrier. He did love his house though. I wonder if he entertained some lady out there? I never saw another cat but Bonjour came from somewhere!
Does Bonjour have a Lois Lane? Lol I am not sure he would know what to do with one. After all, he is still just a tiny kitten. ( in his own mind) He is still all about playing games. Lol

M maggiedemi I can promise you that I do get fazed by many things. You have no idea! I get agitated too! Lol Life is not what we dream of in many ways. It is what me try to make it. Sometimes it goes according to hopes, sometimes it doesn’t. The really nice tray is when we try something that we may not be sure of and it goes waaaasy better than we ever would have imagined. Something small can become great. Something as simple as bringing home a cat can become our reason for becoming an advocate for kitties and for the lives of others. One little tiny spark of hope can light our way. I get fazed and I get knocked down. I just keep getting up and trying again. The alternative for me? Sitting in a pool of sad. It’s very wet stuff! Ewwwww! I’d rather limp to a dry spot. Lolololol
The typos continue! Lol That should have been emaciated and three times I just typed it to have it automatically changed to evacuated. Lol Bonnie was evacuated though! To safety.

Bonjour did not totally crash. There is a shelf back there but it wasn’t the landing he expected. I had to laugh at his little ears protruding above the TV. He was fine though. Never even slowed down

tarasgirl06 That Tom did allow cuddling before he left. I felt very privileged that he let me share his tent. It was really cozy in there! Lol That tent stood for years after and was home to other kitties in the future. Bamboo is really durable stuff!
Bonnie landed safely but he certainly aimed for the TV. Lol Too bad the foreman did have one of those trampoline like nets. Or……. Maybe good he didn’t? I can visualize lots of bouncing kitties enjoying that! Cat trampoline and cats on ceiling!

Whenallhellbreakslose I have seen that house. It’s wonderful and I would love to do that!
I have heard that some large companies are buying their own ships to go and get the supplies that are stranded. IDK if this will help but Kudos to anyone taking charge. It’s very scary for me on behalf of the Clowder. I need my van back to start the food hunt again. The minute I can, it’s back to loading up for them. It doesn’t take much for me but it takes a good bit for them. I know that you know.
tarasgirl06 Nothing should be delaying supplies that are just sitting! Nothing!! Even if there is a shortage of man power, volunteers would be there! Going to read.

While looking back for pictures of Marcus I found photos of some of the kitties in younger days. These are kitties from the first colony that was mostly Felv. These are the kitties that survived to meet and love being part of the new the Clowder.

tarasgirl06 Thank you. I got very lucky, given my teeth. I rarely had toothaches at all, except in my wisdom/molars, maybe because they were the closest thing to "normal" teeth that I had. Lots of ickiness, but very little pain.

@jaycatbird I think that Marcus and my dear old Austin (LORD I miss that cat!) must have been twin souls, born to care for kittens

Mamanyt1953 Twin souls for sure. They had a job to do and they did it well. Sweet twin souls. Marcus never stopped doing his job until he knew he needed to educate a hooman. He was a wise kitty.
