Mamanyt1953 Mamanyt1953 I hope all is well there. I understand about being steadily booked up with appointments! Me too! Vet checks? Heh. Long, long day. Long story too.

tabbytom tabbytom I always look forward to the Pawverbs. Wisdom. I would always choose to feed a cat. The cat in that picture is so beautiful. But then, they all are. ;)

M maggiedemi I like the term “Cat Herder” too.
If it took a canon to defend cats, I would get one! So far, I have been able to be the Canon.;) It would be better to not need one though. A moat is much quieter. Lol

Lady had a little lamb, little lamb, little lamb! Lady had a little lamb whose fleece was covered in cat hair! Lol (She has a bunny too though) The lamb is her favorite though.

We certainly could have used your help today. It takes a village to vet 25 cats!!

tarasgirl06 tarasgirl06 I loved the photos you linked us to! To be in the arms of cat love! Purrfect place to be.
Oh my! Today was….. kind of a catastrophe?!?! Only for the humans though. Lol The vet and tech were awesome! My house is a wreck. The cats got their shots and check up but I think they win the day. Lol They got treats and we got a workout! The only down thing is that BJ has had me worried and they double checked him for me. As I suspected, he lost more weight and is now scheduled for dental surgery.:( I knew it. All the other kitties checked out very well though. Thrasher has gained a little too much weight since her adventure but she has not lost any muscle mass! She led us on a grand adventure of her own choosing. Long story about them all but the vet did not take a bribe. Lol I did give both ladies a painting though! I guess I felt they would need a bribe to ever do this again! Actually, they earned more than I can ever repay.
Shoes! I had to wear mine lately. Unh. Hopefully by the weekend I can give my toes some freedom. Lol They have earned more than I can repay too! I hope the new medicine works.

dustydiamond1 dustydiamond1 Ack!!:fear:Poor little fox. I know the beautiful eagle needs to eat though. The balance of nature.
I love, love the Christmas tree in the cage!:flail:Brilliant solution! Somewhere I saw someone decorating a tree with cat toys. Also brilliant solution. Lol

Happy Whisker Wednesday to Gypsy too!

pearl99 pearl99 Thank goodness you spotted that bunny! Awww! I love bunnies. I have rescued a couple of babies. A friend called me late one night last year. Her cats had brought in a bunny and it was pure chaos in her house. “”What do I do?, she said. Lol Put the cats in the bathroom and open the door! Lol Bunny found his way out. Always let the bunny out to avoid chaos and nuggets!!

It was actually a vet visit here at the house. Vet day out! Lol Talk about chaos…..! Lol

rubysmama rubysmama The vet came here. I don’t think I could transport 25 in a day. Lol They are very kind and know that I have had some issues lately so two people came here for five hours! Oh my. You won’t believe our day! The kitties love going there but having a vet in the house? Different story. Lol The kitties made us get our exercise. They behaved once we caught up though. Not much time for as many photos as I imagined but I could have made a fortune off a video if I could have filmed the day! Humans under furniture, climbing over things, deep into closets, inside bathroom cabinets, behind sofas, …. Lol
The cats all got checked out and got treats so, I think they won the day! Needing restful now. :flail:I wish everyone could have been watching.
Whenallhellbreakslose Whenallhellbreakslose I am delighted to hear you found the cat food and the favorite flavor! That’s great and I know the kitties will be excited. Yummy foods!
That video did make me smile. Oh my goodness! Love, love! It makes you want to be one of them! Not sure which one but either! Such love does melt the heart. :cloud9:

I hardly know what to say. I know…. When am I at a loss for words?!?!?!?! Lol This day was …. challenging. :thud:I have the best vets ever! It took two people along with myself to do vet checks on 25 cats here at the house. I discovered that Thrasher really is a bird and can fly. I have never seen a vet have to duck before! The tech threw her shoulder out! She said she is okay and I certainly hope so! It’s an old injury that got strained but it’s just not good to try and catch flying felines!! I will be checking on her. I am so deeply grateful for all she and the vet did today! Some humans must be cats at heart? I am totally worn out and headed for sleep because my week is still not done but I do want to post the “Welcoming Committee” photos. More will come later. Guess who!!!!

Bj! Of course!

Welcome humans! It’s about time you agreed to come home with me!
D5FE02C2-B8F6-435C-AB32-097EF426FC38.jpeg

Another kitty. You always need a cat in each hand! Dolly could not be left out. Lol
0259F951-5DD5-4E0F-83CD-82D08E1F5307.jpeg

Mackie. Ummmm…
Welcome them? Yes but the price of admission is one mouse joke!

Oh my goodness! The vet coming to you is awesome! Why didn't I think of that! Of course that's a better way.
Flying cats, too funny!
Let us know when and Ziggy and Gracie will sympathize with BJ for the dental, and send purrs and vibes from purrs. They both went through it a year ago. But it was so worth it.
Glad you can get SOME rest now.

pearl99 pearl99 If only I had video of the flying cats! You know I once named a precious one, Uff. Uff stood for Unidentified flying feline. Wherever he is, he still has my heart.
You should see my house now! Flying furniture, carriers, magazines and whatever else came in contact. Lol
Thank you to you, Ziggy and Gracie! BJ is scheduled next week. Going to go collapse now! Lol

Oh, that's so amazing that the vet came to Chez Catbird. I kept trying to imagine 25 cat carriers lined up in a rented van, and 25 cats meowing their opinion of the entire endeavour. So much easier for them to come there, even if you all had to go through an obstacle course / where's waldo game to find everyone.

The only down thing is that BJ has had me worried and they double checked him for me. As I suspected, he lost more weight and is now scheduled for dental surgery.:(
Oh, no. Poor BJ. Let us know which day his dental surgery is, so I can keep him in my thoughts that day, and send extra pawsitive vibes his way. :vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes:

So far, I have been able to be the Canon.
Good, cause I could use a human Canon. 👍

It would be better to not need one though. A moat is much quieter.
Yes, when you have your own safe place, you can use more peaceful warfare. ;)

Lady had a little lamb, little lamb, little lamb!
I like that song. Wish I could sing it to her. :cloud9:

Needing restful now.
Hope you got your "restful" and are now full of rest. I could use some myself. 🙏

Some humans must be cats at heart?
Is that your secret?

You always need a cat in each hand!
I like this idea. :vancat::bicolorcat:

Thank you Jcatbird Jcatbird for the link to that wonderful communication to tnrmakessense tnrmakessense -- such wisdom is rare and so, so true! May it be of great help to you, tnrmakessense, and you, Jcatbird, and to all of us whose work is definitely a labor of love. From the outside, many may question why we do what we do. From the inside, we all KNOW. And we wouldn't have it any other way. If almost everyone on this earth shared in our work, this planet would be closer to the Paradise it was intended to be, far fewer precious lives would be at risk, and there would certainly be far less depression and related mental/emotional maladies.
WOW! Jcatbird! What a monumental endeavor! Looks like Big Mackie made sure it all went relatively smoothly, though. Hoping everyone recovers and gets R&R (in readiness for Phase II! ;))
And I've never doubted cats can fly. Cats are capable of many, many things.

 Jcatbird Jcatbird and so does your vet and the vet assistants. I so glad they were able to come to your house to do their examination and administer vaccinations. Thank goodness things went well enough. Thanks for sharing the cute pics, as always. I hope all goes well next week for BJ's vet visit.
:redheartpump:

tnrmakessense tnrmakessense Thank you for putting up that thread. I feed a colony of ferals and have even tnred. It is a labor of love for sure. Some days can be quite challenging, but the good outweighs the bad. I love knowing that I am making a difference in their lives. 🙂

tabbytom tabbytom , I so love that pawverb! It reminds me of many, many years ago when I lived in a very old farmhouse. There were mice in the kitchen, and rats in the attic. We procured two adorable pointed dsh kittens, who proceeded to take over the entire house. They were excellent ratters, but considered the mice beneath their dignity, and assiduously ignored them. Finally, in an effort to keep them (the mice, not the kittens) out of my cabinets, I began feeding the little blighters out of jar lids, next to the stove. LOL, if I was running late, I'd come in the kitchen to find 5-6 field mice, waiting, and tapping their tiny toes at me, while the cats cavorted in the attic, killing rats as big as they were. It appears that I domesticated them, all unawares! It did, however, keep them out of the cabinets. I really missed those cats when we moved. The new owners of the house wanted them, and we were moving into my mom's motel in another state, so it was best that they stayed where they were. They lived to be old, happy, fat cats, and "sent" us a Christmas card each year for nearly 20 years.

rubysmama rubysmama It would have to be a large cargo van. Lol I had the carriers all stacked after scrubbing every one of them. It took a lot of space stacked so I can only imagine lines of them in a van. I did evacuate with 16 in my mini van once. I had to take all the back seats out. Mackie and Smokey shared a cage. The Bengal boys did too. A lot of the kitties fit into smaller carriers then too. Lol Still, it was a tight fit. I rearranged more than once to make it work. I left all my possessions behind except for things like toothbrush and a few changes of clothes. Before all the kitties, I took lots of personal possessions but those just didn’t matter when it came down to choosing what went in the van once the kitties arrived. Life was all I cared about. The cats were actually very well behaved. There was a little bit of meowing at first but I always talk to the kitties when we go to the vet and they soon realized they were okay. The only BIG even was when Mackie decided he had to go potty. Every other cat held it but Big Mackie :barfgreen: I’m pretty sure he thought it was funny. His room mate.... not so much! Every cat in a cage around him moved to the far side!:runningcat:Silence. Lol We stopped at the nearest Walmart and I bought a new carrier for Smokey and disposed of everything in the one with Mackie! Lol The rest of the ride was fine with the windows open. The cats have provided me with many stories over the years.
BJ is going in to the vet on Tuesday. The surgery is supposed to be the next day. He is still on meds so we have to check everything out ahead of time. He is on pain meds now but should be finished with his antibiotics for the respiratory thing by then. Still on ear drops and ear wash. His blood work was good. Slightly elevated white count but within normal range. All things considered, he is one tough kitty. I am hoping they don’t need to remove many teeth. So far it seems like a few back teeth. Vibes for very few removals please! We won’t really know the whole story until they get a better look. Part of his pain seems to be from the ear infection.
I laughed at the “Where’s Waldo!” It was a bit like that with the carriers. Not all cats were in carriers but next time I will put names on each one. It was,” who is in here?” “Kodiak? Noooo. Flowers? Oh! That’s Mitsy! “

M maggiedemi A cat in each hand is a very good thing!

Human canon at your disposal! lol

Lady would love for you to sing to her but even more, she would love to share her lamb and bunny with you.
I fell asleep today. For three hours! I woke up with Mackie staring at my face!
:flail:Probably wondering if I was ever going to get back up. I’m not sure but I think he poked me awake. Lol
Am I a cat at heart? I should be so lucky!

tarasgirl06 tarasgirl06 I am glad that I saw that and could bring it to your attention. It was well said. The thread is continuing and worth following. As cat helpers of any kind know, we can have hard days. We all need hope and encouragement at times. I actually came here originally searching for help. It seems a long time ago now but not really that long. I found support for what I was doing that I did not find at home. I had not let the nay sayers stop me and I was never going to give up but finding that others knew what I knew and they lifted me up on hard days made my life so much better. I was re energized for the next round. I was never fighting for these lives alone. It did help. It wasn’t the kind of help I first imagined. I was looking for links to help with adoptions or services. Instead I got the help that I really needed most. A way to keep going. In the end I did find the other things I was looking for too. Things work out if you don’t give up! It is something we all need to share and pass on to others. That is how change happens. Our world can become better if we hold hands tightly and stand firm together that it is not acceptable to take any life for granted or to turn our backs on suffering. Face the problem and solve it! Stop it!

Yesterday was exhausting! Lolololol The vet, tech and me. I was actually nervous that morning as I tried to align things. How many can we vet in one day? Can we do it? Lol Yay!!!! Thanks to two great ladies, we did it!!! To their great credit, they never gave up on us! :clap2: Lessor vets and techs would have. Over 5 hours of steady cat catching and vetting. It was pretty intense at times. Dear sweet Thrasher was the most difficult. I think because of her recent scare and trauma. She finally went under my secretary and because she has really gained weight.... her plump bum was sticking out. The vet was quick as lightning and stuck that bum with her immunizations. The image is fixed in my mind now. Cute brown bum didn’t move. All Thrasher cared about was that she was safely tucked away. We did not get a weight on her but the most important things got checked and done. The Fairy Catmother must have been helping here. Lol
Hopefully, next year I can go back to doing my two by two vet checks though. Lol It takes longer but it seems easier that way. Lolololol On to the next phase!
Yes! Cats fly. I saw it first hand! I have witnesses too!

Whenallhellbreakslose Whenallhellbreakslose I knew that post by tnrmakessense tnrmakessense would strike a chord with many here. I am glad you read it. We often have support without realizing it. Others out there do care and we are never alone in what we do that matters.
I am so grateful for the help I got yesterday. With my eye problems, foot problems and other things that have been going on, that was a blessing for us. My vets and their techs and other workers are great humans. They do rock!! Me, I just feel like a rock today. Lol Or lead? Lol This too will pass. I am happy to have all the kitties vetted. I haven’t gone without a vet visit in a verrrry long time. I might just get to go to the vet for a social visit next year! :bouquet:They deserve a big bouquet! Maybe a Valentine too! Lol

Mamanyt1953 Mamanyt1953 There was a short time when I did not have a cat. The only time in my life but I did have a big old teddy bear of a dog. To my dismay, I discovered that he had a few friends. He was allowing a family of mice to share his supper. He would lay with his mouse sized nose by the dish and watch as the mice filled their tiny tummies. When the mice had finished, he ate his supper. My old boy did not like me disturbing his company but I dated not allow them to breed here. I caught them in Hav a hart traps and released them in the greenhouse where they are nearby bird seed. Except for one. I watched as that one made a bee line back into the house. It became a bit like Banjo and Froggie. Although I tried many times to put that mouse back with the others, he always returned. I often found him curled up with the dog and even watched that dog grooming the little guy. His giant dog tongue could have, practically, drowned that mouse! Lol Finally, I named the mouse. Mouse Se tongue. The following Spring the mouse must have gone to find his family. Just as well since a cat joined us here
soon after. The old dog was content sharing his bed with and grooming a kitty after that. Love finds love.

Neat that the kitties wrote you. Times have changed and cats don’t write as much as they used to. These days they just text!

Time for another chapter of the vet visit. Smile post!!!!

You’re here to give shots? Ack!!

The problem with being a southern cat, no matter what, you still show hospitality. That doesn’t prevent a fellow from protecting his backside though!!

I already had my shots so,the ladies are all mine!

We have company? Will they give this baby Bonnie lot of pets? They can brush my floof tail!

Hey…. I know them! Oh well, they love me. Brush my floof ladies?

I am still just a twenty pound kitten you know! Got the brush?

Hmmmm. I don’t think that’s a brush they just used on my floof tail!!

At least they remembered to sing the Baby Bonnie song! Lol Bonnie barely felt the stick of the needles. It helps to have a lot of junk in your trunk.
Next chapter coming soon!
We ended the day with a beautiful glow in the sky.

Yes, I use my dear online friend (who lived to be just shy of 100 and who was a great cat lover -- "Dad" White from Knoxville, TN a/k/a Dad The Tomato Man)'s mantra: "Keep a-goin'!" and it's worked so far, through thick and thin and a lot of stuff I would never have thought I could get through. With all the "stuff" you've had in your life and are going through right now, Jcatbird Jcatbird , I know it's YOUR mantra, too! *PRAYERS* continuing, for Chez Catbird and all who live therein!
And yes, directly related to the above, fixing the problem is what'll keep us goin' and keep this world goin' so all of us need to do our part!
Even Big Mackie ;) :shocked::gaah:

tabbytom tabbytom All the pawverbs have been true! :cloud9:
That nurse kitty sure got BJ to smile! He wants to know if she does house calls. Lol
Very glad you enjoyed the sky. I love seeing nature at work. The sky colors always make me stop to admire them. The most beautiful of all paintings come from nature.

M maggiedemi I know you love washing things and I sure wish you were here!! You could sing to Lady, share her lamb, wash whatever your heart desires, solve problems, stop suffering and keep company with the Fairy Catmother! She could use your support! Keep going. I believe in you and that you will achieve what you desire. We’ll keep going together, wherever we are. :yess:

rubysmama rubysmama I am hoping BJ won’t need much work. This is a common problem with immune compromised kitties. He has already beaten heart worms, the world of a feral and some bouts of various smaller issues. He is a very tough kitty. He ate very well tonight! I went back to Friskies Shreds and he enjoyed it. Yay! Maybe I can put some weight back on him before the surgery. Your vibes must be working already! Thank you!
Hmmm. I’m going to look at my toe now! Lol

tarasgirl06 tarasgirl06 That is so true. We just need to keep going. It is the way I get through things. Your friend was wise. We meet many challenges in life. We can either give up and sit down in the mud puddles we wander into or we can get to the other side, clean ourselves off and proceed to higher ground. I prefer higher ground! That’s how we fix problems. Mackie is a good example. He never gave up. He kept looking until he found the warmth of the campfire we had going and recognized it as the place he needed to be. He stayed and found his “higher ground.” Cats are so smart!! They know how to keep going. :petcat:

The next chapter of the great cat purrsuit. Lol

Most people have clothes in their closets. I keep vets in mine!

After working through the house, the vet learned a little trick from the house of Chez Catbird. Welders gloves are very handy!! They plan to get some for their office now. Lol

Are kitties in the closet?

Just us Unicorns!! No Wanda Heart here!
Liberty, I’m chilly. Could you sit on me to get me warm? Yeah. Like that!!

Liberty got hers. Wanda Heart discovered that she could not hide forever. Although, her Unicorn showed her it wasn’t so bad. Unicorn got her shots too. This was not the end. This was the easy part! Lol Great vets rock!!!

Keep a-goin'
I've started whispering to myself to "Keep Going" when trying to complete a task. It really helps to calm my nerves. 👍

You could sing to Lady, share her lamb, wash whatever your heart desires, solve problems, stop suffering
I think I would stop suffering once I was "allowed" to wash things. 🧼

I believe in you and that you will achieve what you desire. We’ll keep going together, wherever we are.
Yes, we'll keep trying. 🤝

I went back to Friskies Shreds
The Chicken Shreds are out of stock everywhere! Hopefully they restock soon, I only have enough for a week. 😲

warmth of the campfire we had going
Sounds cozy & safe. :cloud9:

proceed to higher ground
I like this idea. High enough where evil can't reach. :crossfingers:

M maggiedemi Yes, it's like a mantra! And when I think of him getting to be almost 100, and going through all the stuff he must have gone through in his life, it's extra encouragement for me. If he could do that, surely I must be able to do this!;)
Jcatbird Jcatbird hope the toe presented itself well :) and that the new antibiotics are working!
Yes, you can run, Wanda Heart, but you can't hide forever from the Vet in the Closet (is that anything like the Elf on the Shelf? I have no idea what that is, but it sounds like they might be related?:flail:) That is a really splendid chair, BTW. Looks like it came from a European palace! Is there a story there? Were you romancing a prince? *We all have secrets :agree:*
Do you weld? Ex #3 did, and I watched him a time or two, but he never let me try. I've always wished I could solder, because my dad used to repair my jewelry but now...it just sits in a box, waiting.
COLD (for here) last night/this morning! It got down to 45F at least. It's now 49F. A significant storm on the way next week, which should start the seasonal snowpack in the mountains where I lived. It will be so beautiful especially at this time. I have fond memories of driving to the grocery store in the little town next to our community and seeing the houses all lit up with the snowy mountain backdrop -- just like the places everyone knows about, but at that time, it was our little secret that only the locals really knew about.
