My 4 month old kitty ate his breakfast this morning just fine, then i noticed he wasn't his playful self afterwards like he is every morning after breakfast. Didn't think much of it. I fed him his midday meal and he wouldn't touch it. Kept going to it and "buried" his bowl. About a hour later I finger fed him and he ate very little, beardly made a tent in his wet food. Couple hours later, now, he still won't eat. He's still drinking. I'm wondering when its an emergency to take him to the hospital. I am assuming when I call around to vet clinics tomorrow, they won't have appts till a week out. What should I do???
I've been fostering kittens this year(none at the moment) and I learned kittens are very fragile and can deteriorate fast, but that's with 3-11 week old kittens that I fostered. Not sure about a 4 month old. Any advice?

What time was that last meal? It could be that he is still pretty full from that meal and therefore not hungry. Going back to cover his food is their instinct that any unfinished food is covered so that predators do not know that he's been there eating and there's food. This is to cover their tracks as in the wild and this is very common.

My boy does the covering of food after his meals and also if he's not hungry and I have food out for him, he does the same, not to mention, he covers my food too

Just keep an observation on him.

11 hours ago? Ok, just keep an observation for anything unusual. One other thing is, have he pooped or peed? Sometimes if he has not pooped or peed for a long period, he may not want to eat till he poos or pees. Full bladder kind of make them still feels full until they release.

Have you tried changing to another flavor to entice him to eat?

But on the safe side, keep observing his behavior. Not eating for a long period of time is no good. Hopefully he eats soon.

Yes very little. Ate like 1% of a 3 oz can at the most. And he's not his playful self either
