Well, it's only November, but already every store I go into has started playing Christmas songs over their sound system. I expect that started even earlier in some other countries.

What Christmas song do you find the most annoying?

Most of the stores around here are playing the Muzak version of Last Christmas I Gave You My Heart. I'm old enough to remember when that was a hit. I'm not really aware of the song when I'm shopping, but then I find myself singing the words later. It's driving me nuts!

It's not as bad as Sleighride though, that one really irritates me.

Last Christmas I Gave You My Heart.
That is a terrible song isn't it?! So blah and almost whiney...

I'm not a fan of most Christmas music really. But I have a thing where I can't listen to similar sounding music or the same artist more than say, 2-3 in a row. So Christmas music just gets on my nerves. It's all 20 different versions of the same childhood and church songs with a few terrible overproduced pop songs with bells chiming in the background thrown in the mix. And I'm not a scrooge, I love Christmas and everything else that comes with it...just not 95% of the music.

I think they all annoy me😹 I have switched to cds in my car because my antenna is broken and the only station I can get is already nearly non stop xmas songs, it will only get worse. There are very few I like, usually only classical pieces and enya type music etc.

All of them. I'm not a big Christmas music fan. But I never listen to the radio at all, so I'm good.
The only song that I actually sing along to is Snoopy's Christmas. When my son and granddaughter come up to bake cookies, we usually listen to that song a million times throughout the day.

"Wonderful Christmastime" is one of my non-favorites. Yowp-Yowp-Yowp of synthesizers, screechy digital violins and a doofus chorus, plus not knowing when to bring it to an end. Blah. That being said, our community band plays an arrangement that's much better. It's only two minutes or so in length, too

Another non-favorite is "The Little Drummer Boy." The original by the Harry Simeone Chorale is probably the worst. I've probably been poisoned by wobbly church sopranos warbling away with the men singers rum-pum-pumming it all these years.

However, I think the winner in the rotten Xmas song is "Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer."

Santa Claus is Coming to Town by the Jackson 5
All I Want For Christmas is You by Mariah Carey
Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer
I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus by some annoying child
Jingle Bell Rock by whomever (Not only I find it annoying, but I also find it one of the laziest song choices a singer could sing)
Simply Having a Wonderful Christmastime by Paul McCartney and the Wings (Doesn't help that it played constantly in the store during my retail years!)

Band Aid's Do They Know it's Christmas.
I've had a good old moan about this on TCS before
One third of the people in Ethiopia, (it was to raise money for the famine there) aren't Christian and those that are would certainly know it's Christmas.. why wouldn't they? For all of those dying of hunger, it's hardly uppermost in their minds. And yet there's that constant refrain: 'Let them know it's Christmas time' :dunno:
And it paints the whole of Africa as an horrendouse place:
“ Where nothing ever grows, no rain or rivers flow / Do they know it's Christmas time at all?” As one critic put it: "....a song that declares the entire continent of Africa is bereft of water, trees or joy."
Patronising and downright awful, I cringe when I hear it.

Oh, and Michael Buble's Santa Baby.. That's a whole other kind of cringe.
