Today was a little nuts. Normally my dad and his wife visit us for a few days after thanksgiving. Her family only lives a few hours away. This year they decided to visit me first.

So I thought they were coming this Saturday. Until about a week ago when I talked to my dad on the phone and found out they were coming Thursday. Eeks! Good thing I called him right?

They problem was that the reception that day made him sound like he was speaking through a muffler far away. But I got Thursday so I figured I’d just fudge it for when they planned to leave. Dad was to bring me some favorite local foods from back home and I was going to make my cousin’s best recipe. Yay!

So today I got up debating how to run errands and finish deep cleaning the disaster that is my desk and school corner. But DS desperately needed a haircut so I text my dad to see when he wanted me to make that dish, etc. I ran out without even coffee or food in me. In the middle of DS’s haircut my dad called…AND HE WAS HALF WAY HERE!! :thud:

I had no plans for dinner. My cleaning wasn’t done. I still had to go to the store. Still hungry and lacking caffeine:lol:

It all worked out. I mean I’m not done cleaning but my desk was a disaster the last time he came too. And my kids were thoroughly warned NOT to tell him we didn’t know he was coming today.:paperbag::flail:

The upside? Whoever made my egg sandwich at Dunkin gave me like triple bacon! 🥓

The mom's night out in a Himalayan salt room I'd signed up for was disappointingly canceled. My SIL and niece were supposed to come help my husband with J.

Maybe I'll get my eyebrows done and go grocery shopping instead. Or clothes shopping. I need new socks.

Recovering from a bad cat integration day yesterday. I let Lola out in the morning without realizing that Willow hadnt gone into her daytime closet spot and Lola was chasing her in a second - under the bed and then down the basement before I broke it up. After I came back up I realized that Willow had peed while under the bed, not only on the floor but on the edge of the bed dust skirt as well. So first I round up Lola and gave her a time out in her room, checked on Willow, used Nature’s Miracle to clean the floor and then had to go through the monumental effort of removing the mattress off the bed so I could throw the bed skirt in the washer. Between climbing the step ladder a few dozen times the day before to hang my blinds and then the getting the mattress off the bed and then back on again I was exhausted by evening.

If a root canal can be done, go for it. In the long run it is way cheaper than a tooth replacement and much better than going without a tooth!

game misconduct game misconduct I have to agree, prom personal experience, that a root canal is the way to go. Please do not start pulling teeth, if there is a way to save them. I havejhad several teeth pulled and it are dealing with the disasterous consequences. You need the support for eating/chewing.

Root canals have come a long way. Dentistry has come a long way. Wish you luck!

I had my dental implant placed the day after thanksgiving! That was easier food wise than the extraction though!

Hey, I may be getting old, but, by definition, that means I wasn't born yesterday.
My most recent was:

Hello, may I speak with Mrs. Surette?

This is she, but the last name has changed.

Oh. Well, this is Mr. Smith with XYZ Collections. We are calling about your debt with EZCheck.

I've never used EZCheck.

Well, ma'am, our records show that you borrowed $2,500 from EZCheck which was deposited to your bank account with WF Bank on September 3, 2013.

Hold a moment. No, I'm looking at my bank statements for August, September and October of 2013, and no such deposit was made.

Can you send me copies of those statements? (and my "I wasn't born yesterday either" grew wings and flew)

No, I cannot. However, I will be happy to meet you in small claims court with them. Have a good day.

I think the "gentleman" was shocked that I had those banks statements on hand, and could find them so quickly. Old ladies are not supposed to have all their financials saved in files on their computers! Honestly, normally I'd have deleted that file at the beginning of this year. I'll be holding on to it for a bit longer, i think.

Good for you Mamanyt1953 Mamanyt1953 ! it’s just so easy to slip on these “collection” calls. Some years back I had one and after a lengthy conversation about this so called debt I actually gave them my social security number - so incredibly dumb I know but I did it. Fortunately nothing ever came of it and I do think it was a real collection agency calling the wrong person but how stupid of me!

If/when you do get to go, let me know how it is. I have been considering doing this.

Last week, someone dumped a young cat near where my husband works. They have been feeding it and trying to gain its trust, and tonight he was able to! He caught her and put her in his car until I was able to get her. She is definitely a her because she is in the early stages of pregnancy. We are not sure if we are keeping her, but we are getting her spayed and vetted. (There is a 90% chance we are keeping her. We have had 13 cats before, so it would not be that big of a difference.) I talked to the woman I usually go through for TNR. She said that if we do not keep her she can help find a home for her. (She currently has 26 kittens waiting for a home, though.) We have her in my art studio at the moment. I am certain that the person who dumped her did so because she is pregnant. Poor baby. She looks to be right around a year old.

I am currently trying to pick a name for her.

Update: The likelihood is up to 99%. Her name is Verity. Middle names have not been selected yet, but Verity Anathema Lethe is a strong contender.
