I finished de Lint's "The Harp of the Grey Rose," which is more typically fantasy than many of his books. However, it gave a bit of backstory on one of my favorite denizens of Newford, Cerin Kelledy, so that was lovey. I knew that he and his wife were from one of the Otherworlds, and that both have more than a bit of magic about them, but not much more than that. Nice getting the background.

I'm just about finished One of Us is Next, which is the sequel to One of Us is Lying. Both are young adult novels, though were interesting enough to keep this "not so young" adult reading.

After finishing Louise Penny’s newest book, The Madness of Crowds
If you want to share more about it, there's still a few days left in October, and our "read anything you want" book club month.

I thought about it, rubysmama rubysmama , but I don’t know how to do it without divulging the key plot line which the author doesn’t reveal until well into the book. I think most people would guess it long before it’s stated, but I don’t want to spoil it. I’ll hop over to that thread and read the kinds of things people are saying to see if I can figure out how to participate. :)

No worries. I was curious, though, and checked to see if my library has the e-book. They do, but I see it's #17 in a series, so guess I probably won't put it on my "to read" list.

Currently reading "The Riddle of the Wren," which is also a more typical "fantasy" type novel, although more down to earth than many. He tends, even in his more typical fantasies, to deal with characters who are believable, and honest. Even the good guys have their share of failings. I like that.

We’ve been streaming “Nero Wolfe” on Hoopla. It’s a few years old and it’s in Italian and set in Italy! Getting to the book part now… I read all or almost all of the Rex Stout books when I was a kid, and this series made me want to go back and re-read at least some of them. I just finished reading the first—Fer-de-Lance—published in the 1930s. It’s held up really well; the writing style felt contemporary. Very fun to read again.

I didn’t know, or had forgotten, that he had written so many Nero Wolfes, the last of which were published in the ‘70s. He died in 1975 at age 89.

:woohoo:I'm # 3 on 10 copies for my library's e-book of Go Tell the Bees That I Am Gone, Outlander Series, Book 9, by Diana Gabaldon, expected release date of November 23rd. So as soon as they get it, I get it. :woohoo:

Now if I could just remember how book 8 ended. :headscratch:

rubysmama rubysmama I have it on pre-order from Amazon, so the day it comes out is the day I'll get it. I'm going to browse through 8 this weekend to get familiarized with it again as it's been so long between 8 and 9.

I'm going to try to save Bees until the Sunday after Thanksgiving. I'll take it out to the WeShed, flop down, and read while Rick's in the house watching football. I know I won't get it all read in one sitting, but I can get through a lot of it. Already told Rick that, unless the house is burning down, nothing is important enough to call me!

You're a faster reader than me, Winchester Winchester , so you'll probably be finished long before I am. It may take me most of the 3-weeks of my library loan to read it. Then maybe not, if it's really good. Either way, looking forward to reading it, and glad I caught the addition of it to my library site when I did, so I can start it as soon as it's released.

I finished N.K. Jemisin's The Hundred Thousand Kingdoms. Such a wildly imaginative tale! But before I get into the second and third book in the same trilogy, I'm going back to a book I read earlier in the year on Kindle but gave up because I didn't enjoy it. My book club had talked about it and most of the members really enjoyed it, so now I got the actual book from the library and am giving it another try. It's a YA fantasy series by Andrew Peterson called The Wingfeather Saga. The book is On the Edge of the Dark Sea of Darkness.

I just started "My Grandmother Asked Me to Tell You She's Sorry" by Fredrik Backman, who wrote "A Man Called Ove."
I'm only on chapter 2, seems like it's going to be good.
