That sounds both exciting and tiring. Good luck!
I'm sure it will be exhausting, but I'll be so proud of myself if I manage to do it.

I did 90 minutes of yoga and a 90 minute walk yesterday. 2 hour walk and 30 minutes stretching today. I wore my proper hiking boots for the first time this winter. I was expecting them to feel really heavy after a summer of walking in sneakers, but they were pretty comfy. I realised I can feel every rock through my sneakers, so I might be about to walk right through the bottoms of them.

Ah well, it's winter boot season now anyway.

Is the plan to go soon?

Still wearing sneakers here, but should look into getting hiking boots for the cooler weather. I bought a pair of boots last winter, but they were more of a winter boot, than hiker, and I didn't love them. It can be hard to find exactly what you're looking for.

Your hikers are better designed for "off road" rock and gravel, sneakers for pavement... or gym
It's all off road around here. I could have worn my hiking boots all year, but they felt too hot and heavy in the summer.

I'm hoping to go this Friday if it doesn't rain. It's been wet and cold the past few days and Fuji has snow on the top, so Jyunigatake might have a little bit too.

Just 90 minutes of yoga yesterday. I'm planning on going out for a walk this afternoon, if I get all my work finished.

I decided to have a rest from walking on Thursday and did two 1 hour yoga practices instead. One for your core and one for flexibility. I was already for my hike on Friday but the weather wasn't good. Cold and raining here, which would have meant poor visibility and possibly snow up in the mountains. No point going for a climb if you can't enjoy the view. We're going to try again next week. Instead we went for a 2 hour 30 minute walk in Aokigahara, followed by 30 minutes yoga. Saturday was a 2 hour walk and 45 minutes yoga. Today was just 90 minutes of yoga.

A few pics from Friday's walk.

Nice little rest stop near the head of the trail. You can see how low the clouds were, we wouldn't have been able to see anything if we went higher up.

The forest is on top of an old lava flow so there are lots of little caves everywhere.

Big cave that I was too scared to go into.

Has everyone had a good week? The weather has been nice here, so I've done 90 minutes of yoga and either a 90 minute or two hour walk every day. Going to try climbing Jyunigatake again tomorrow. The forecast is be sunny and clear, so should be perfect weather for climbing.

Wish me luck!

Good luck with your climb tomorrow! Can't wait to hear all about it.

It's been wet and cold the last bit here, so I haven't done much. Everyone says how much they love fall, and it can be lovely with the gorgeous leaf colours, but it's such a small window of comfort temps for me, before the cool crisp weather starts to feel bitter and cold. Supposed to warm up again in a few days, so I'll try to get some walks in.

Good for you. You live in a wonderful place with so much beauty surrounding you. Very inspirational.

I am having my ups and downs with my exercise regiment. Today was a very stressful day--family issues and just stressful situations all around. As the saying goes "Life comes at you--hard and fast." Tomorrow may be another rough day. I am hanging in there.

I love how consistent you are with your walks and yoga. You are very motivated. 🙂

I'm back! I made it. That was......a lot harder than I was expecting.

4 and a half hours up, 2 and a half hours down, 30 minutes walk back to where we'd parked the car. It was like proper rock climbing, with chains and ropes to pull yourself up with and a scary suspension bridge across a gorge near the top.

:jawdrop:

But the views were amazing and the weather was perfect. Pics coming soon. I have to go and lie in a hot bath and whimper to myself for a while now.

I hope it warms up soon. I've started wearing my thinner thermal shirts when I walk, it will soon be time to dig out the heavy duty ones.
I am having my ups and downs with my exercise regiment. Today was a very stressful day-
I'm sorry to hear that. :hugs: I hope you have some more peaceful days to come.

Here are some pictures of yesterday's walk. We started of walking up a very steep hill through a cedar forest.
JNGT5_R.jpg

Stone Jizo statues on the trail. Jizo watch over travelers so you often see them on hiking trails.
JNGT2_R.jpg

First tea break.
JNGT3_R.jpg

First peak, Mineyama.
JNGT6_R.jpg

The trail flattened out a bit here so it was quite nice walking along the ridge.
JNGT9_R.jpg
JNGT13_R.jpg

First proper view of the goal. Jyunigatake.
JNGT8_R.jpg

Second peak, Kenashiyama. Very nice view from here.
JNGT21_R.jpg

Lake Kawaguchi on the left and Lake Sai on the right.
JNGT23_R.jpg

Getting closer. Jyunigatake means Twelfth Peak. I thought it meant the 12th peak in the whole range, but no. It means the 12th peak from Kenashiyama so we had to go up and down 11 peaks to get to it.
JNGT27_R.jpg

It got pretty steep from there on, most of it was climbing up rocks using ropes and chains like this.
JNGT29_R.jpg

I don't know why I'm smiling, that's only Peak Number 4.
JNGT31_R.jpg

Almost there! This is 12th peak seen from 11th peak.
JNGT36_R.jpg

But first we have to get across this.
JNGT38_R.jpg

And then use those ropes and chains to climb up the other side.
JNGT39_R.jpg

This is why you should do your research before attempting a climb, don't listen to Mr Husband when he says "It's not that hard, you'll be able to do it." 😭
JNGT43_R.jpg

Shavasana!
JNGT48_R.jpg

Looking back towards the 11th Peak
JNGT46_R.jpg

Mount Fuji and Lake Sai. The trail went down the ridge of the mountain as far as the lake, then we had about 3 km along the road back to where we had left the car.
JNGT52_R.jpg

Beautiful late afternoon sun lighting up the ridge we had just come along.
JNGT56_R.jpg

I'm slightly amazed that I made it, but I think it was worth the effort.

I'm still in recovery, just 45 minutes of easy yoga today.

Wow !!!! Absolutely stunning pics !!!! But, "It's not that hard, you'll be able to do it." I guess he was right.

Seriously, you must be so proud of yourself for accomplishing that. Had you done anything like it before? Would you have still gone, if you'd known what you were going to come up against?

Yeah, I guess he was right.

I had done harder hikes when we were trekking in Nepal and Pakistan, but that was about 15 years ago when my knees were still bouncy and youthful. These days it's the coming back down that kills me.

I think I still would have gone anyway though. We're already planning our next adventure. Onigatake (Devil's Peak) some time next month.

How's everyone doing this week?

I eased back into my walking routine gently. An hour of yoga and a 45 minute walk on Monday, 90 minutes yoga and a 1 hour walk on Tuesday. 90 minutes of yoga and a 90 minute walk every other day this week.

I think this Friday's adventure might be a walk to the top of some local waterfalls to see the autumn leaves. The weather has been really nice lately so I'm hoping that lasts.

As usual, nothing worth posting about, exercise-wise. It's been cooler than I like, and I've been doing a lot of hibernating. I know weather's gonna get way worse before it gets better, but I'll be glad when spring gets here. :ohwell:

About the one year anniversary of my rowing machine purchase. I am up to around 35 minutes and level resistance 3 (out of 8), and when I finish I do about a five minute stretch. I still really love it and when you can exercise any time of day and in any kind of weather, there are no excuses. I have a small TV by it now so I usually watch YouTube videos while I exercise.

I got more into my exercize routines, but am still not getting enough walk time in. I will be back on my diet in less than 2 months, so I have to get going. I also got to get back to eating more healthy food. I am having my ups and downs with that.

Norachan Norachan I would love to do a hike like that. Wow, that is so inspiring. No wonder you walk everyday. 🙂

I don't think I would go mountain climbing again. I'm terrified of wild animals. I went with my brother in Lake Tahoe at the place where they used to film Bonanza. When we came back down the mountain, there were all these tracks in the snow. I was like, Oh heck no! Never again.

I'm gonna start back up with my 2 hour walks indoors, probably on November 29th. I want to start by December 1st, but I usually like to start on a Monday, so that seems the most reasonable date. I've been doing good on my diet though! No more binge eating or drinking, just lunch & dinner, and 2 vanilla coffee drinks per day, and my 4 waters. I got rid of breakfast.
