I have been a dental hygienist for 12 years. It sounds to me like what you are seeing and feeling on your molar is a build up of tartar. It can get really thick, make the tooth look larger and feels like sandpaper. It typically doesn't build up much on the biting surface because chewing prevents it but can get very heavy on the sides.. You might feel pain when touching it due to gum disease or an abscess. If you are unable to brush and floss regularly like you mentioned it makes sense that you would get an excess amount of tartar and the upper molars are a spot that most people get heavier build up even with regular brushing.

Oh, you're in IL. Me, too. Lol, our state is a mess at times.

I hope you're able to get the help you need. Maybe try another emergency room for the one tooth that's in the worst condition?
I have tried 3 2 in Southern Illinois and 1 in central Illinois

Ah, I'm near Chicago where there are a million. Sounds like you have fewer options.

I'm glad your question got answered!

just wondering if you have ever received gas for your dental visits. That is usually what they can do for nervous patients and they can put a mask on before they do anything to your teeth and can adjust the gas level until you are feeling relaxed.

But the gas is continuously administered until they are done so it doesn’t wear off until they are done. I have have had root canals as well as extractions with gas.

If you really need an oral anxiety medication for a dental visit, talk to your doctor about prescribing a single pill when you have an upcoming visit. They may be more willing to do that rather than a larger script.

Tried it with my previous Dr and got treated like a drug seeker
