Where my cats are
It finally feels like fall here. Earlier I looked outside after getting out of the shower and my DD was outside in her WINTER coat! :flail: It was in the 80s just a few days ago and today it's in the 60s and windy! DS was out there in a long sleeve t-shirt. Both kids have new fall coats this year but DD went straight for winter. :dunno: Maybe it's a preteen thing. She's awfully "wise in her own eyes" these days. At least compared to her brother. :rolleyes2: DS came in for a coat a few minutes later and I reminded them they both have fall coats. So then DS goes running outside in his fall coat with a furry winter trapper style hat he thinks is awesome. Last year I couldn't get him to wear a hat. :rolleyes2: Maybe I just have opinionated kids. I'm ok with that.

Do your pets let you know when the seasons change?

We've had a couple cool days a few weeks ago. But with this last cold front Mooch suddenly wants in someone's lap at all times. She went from lap to lap yesterday since we were all home. Before I was home with my kids; the first cold days of the year I'd come home from work and find her UNDER the big couch blanket. I'll get out her heated bed eventually.

I don't think it's just Mooch that does this. I had several friends posting pictures of their dogs sharing one bed with empty beds nearby. One friend had 5 dogs of various sizes in one bed. I guess that means the season change is here to stay!

When the weather gets chilly Willow moves from her basement sleeping/hiding space underneath her cat bed to her upstairs sleeping/hiding place in the hall closet. My south facing roof shields the sun from shining in during the spring and summer, and allows it to flood in through large windows in the fall and winter, so she also spends much more time during fall/winter sprawled out in sunny spots on the living room floor.

Patches has started to make his way up my son's bed. When it's warm he sleeps at the bottom as it cools he works his way up so he can steal his body heat. Bandit spends more time on the bed too.

I have two of those stuffed/insulated cats beds, both in the bedroom, and Lily and Mocha use those in the winter but never during the summer months. That seems to be the only difference. Iris doesn't care for those and sleeps on one of the footstools in the living room regardless of the season. She and Lily are 17 now, and Iris, in particular, is really feeling her age. I'm waiting to see if she does what Max used to do when he was a super senior kitty: sleep on the heating vents.

Sleeping on or next to a heat vent is what my old girl, Murphy loved to do. She particularly loved to lay next to the heat vent under the sink cabinet. Many pots and pans were washed while I straddled the cat sleeping below me.

I will try and keep the catio door open as late in the season I can, but my allergies have been so bad this year that I haven't been opening the door much for them. Remy doesn't like it though and will paw at the sliding door to let me know that he wants to go outside. The cats, especially Flora, would go on the catio even if it was snowing.

Mine will go off and sleep on their own in the summer. Right now, they've migrated to the foot of the bed. Once it gets cold at night, Sir Eats-A-Lot will pester me to let him under the covers. Wish I could teach him how to do that by himself, but he keeps waking me up.

Ever since it got cooler Carleton has become more energetic, e.g. he wants to play chase, jump into his cat tree and has been sleeping most of the night on a soft kitty blanket at the foot of our bed.

They sure do!The cats demand more blankies, especially on the benches in front of the picture window and the 2 doxies have started snuggling under theirs at night, especially Olivia, who's a short hair.Lana got an extra big blanket in her crate and she sure snuggled in when she went to bed last night.

I don't know yet! I was wondering when a cat's coat gets heavier? I adopted Gayla in March of this year and I remember she shed heavily fur heavily in the spring. I assumed she was losing a heavier winter fur coat. When does it usually get heavy for winter? I am eager to see how she is once the whether gets really cold--where her fav spots will be for sleeping and such....

I don't think my cats notice, but today I found them both lying on my bed in the warm sunshine. My bedroom window faces southwest, so the afternoon sun is fairly intense there. They stayed all afternoon instead of following me around the house.

I haven't noticed, honestly! I know when the heaters come on, they're definitely attracted to heat vents and radiators! I think Lelia tends to spend more time in the bed with us in winter as well. But I guess since we keep the temp inside fairly even it's not huge changes.

Yes. Spring they track in mud, summer they track in mud, cough up hairballs and murder mice on the kitchen floor, autumn they track in mud, grass seeds and fallen leaves, winter they go out and run around in the snow then try to get back into bed with me.
