I have several feral cats with ear mites. They will let me touch them sometimes but that is it. So I haven’t been able to take them to a vet. I am currently using ear mite drops, but can only get those on the outside of the ears while they are eating. Is there any over the counter treatments I can use that work?

Do you have a vet that you know who deals with ferals? Many of them will prescribe Revolution for feral cats without seeing them. Revolution (not the Plus one) will kill ear mites. It might be worth checking into, as that is the only thing I know you could try that wouldn't require getting inside a cat's ears. If you can apply the ear mite drops the way you are, you should be able to apply the topical Revolution while they are eating as well. Check with clinics, shelters, etc. if you don't directly know of a vet that will help you.

If you suspect an infection, these vets might even be willing to prescribe an antibiotic as well.

The feral cat had kittens over the summer and I was able to take it to the vet. I called them, but they don’t treat feral cats. I will try to see if the shelter knows of one. The only thing my current vet said they could do without seeing it was to advise I use frontline on it.

To the best of my knowledge, Frontline does not treat mites. Keep searching through shelters, clinics, etc. You might reach out through FB and/or Next Door Neighbor asking about anyone who might know places that work with treating ferals without seeing them.
