44, but for some reason people constantly mistake me for being in my 20s. It makes me want to grind my stubble into their eyeballs and ask if they can see the gray yet.
That happens to me a lot. Once I was told to get out of the pool during rest period because4 a lifeguard thought I was under 18. I was 22 at the time. Even tough I was registered to vote, during my first three elections I was asked if I am old enough. I love looking young but it does not help people treat me like they would anyone else my age. Combined with my occasional childlike behavior (I am on the autism spectrum), many people can't tell the difference between me and a high school student.

I turned 42 about 5 weeks ago.

People used to mistake me for a teenager well into my 30s, which was extremely annoying. This seems to have stopped; I didn't even get carded the last time I bought alcohol (although it was at Sam's Club and they have my picture and birthdate on file so they're probably more lax about carding). Maybe I've developed a good enough RBF to not look like a child at least.

 .. I am chuckling that 99 people looked at this post and 8 answered it ! there is an old Irish proverb 🍀☘ " Do not resent growing older . Many are denied the privilege " ... that said .. I am 55 .
I'm not resentful of my age, just trying to figure out how much I want to say for privacy reasons. Though I've filled out enough memes here people can probably figure out the year I was born.

I'll just say between 35 and 40.

My cousin gets that all the time. She teaches at a high school and other teachers who don't recognize her will yell at her for being in the halls or the building. :rolleyes2: Especially when she moved to a new school district so no one knew her yet!

:yeah: Age is just a number. Getting older is a privilege. I just don't like getting too specific about certain things just anywhere. :) I bet most people who've been around here long enough with me have a good general idea.

Someone-I forget who- once said that the only thing worse than growing old in not growing old, and about appearance; more than a few times people have told me that I look younger than my actual age. While I'm, as I said earlier, north of 70, they say I look to be in my late 50s or early 60s. I think they are lying, but that's just me.

I got accused of being my husband's daughter because he went grey early and up to a certain age, I looked younger than I was. People also thought he was the boys' grandfather sometimes too.

Why do so many people lose their hair colors before they are old? Many men start going bald at young ages too. :(

It is good to know I am not the only adult people mistake for a teenager because of my good looks. But with my loud deep voice what makes them think looking young must mean I'm a kid or very young lady? Many women are only 5-3, so my height does not explain it either.

The worst example is hair stylists asking my mom how old I am. (I can't drive so she has to take me there.) Why is it their business to know how old an ADULT is? Fortunately I have a nice one now who treats me with the respect I deserve.

Genetics, mostly. My mom's family keeps their hair color for a long time. My grandma died at 96 and still had salt-and-pepper hair, fairly heavy on the "pepper". And no baldness in her family, and since that's passed down to males from the maternal line, my brothers still have nice dark full heads of hair. But my youngest brother's friend, same age, has an old man's hairline, just a fringe around the back, half gray. Nothing you can do, really, just enjoy whatever you have.

My grandma's hair was still completely brown when she died at age 73. Mom's hair started turning gray years before he turned 73.

Her real dad's baldness was a horseshoe and he passed that on to both of my uncles. i never saw any of them with more hair than that.
