OK I hope I'm in the right place. Anyway since it's finally cooling off I want to open my bedroom window to get some fresh air. The only problem is the screen on the window sucks and can be easily pushed loose (not just the metal frame but the screen itself is held in by rubber strip which easily gives way). Lizzy has already gotten out once (thankfully Bella alerted me and I lured her back in) but I don't know how to keep Lizzy in while enjoying fresh air

This is the screen. If anyone has any suggestions I'm all ears.

Oh I'm in an apartment so nothing damaging.

If you have windows that open up and down you can buy an insert that sits in the window frame, adjusts sideways to fit and is held in place by the upper window. Picture below from Amazon. This would be stronger than what you have.

Since you mentioned being in an apartment can you ask your landlord to replace the screen with a more supportive one? This would seem like a reasonable request.

It won't be perfect. But perhaps using some strong tape to keep the screen in the frame and the frame in the window will help until you can find a better solution. Also asking the landlord to replace the screen isn't a bad idea.

I have asked. They won't do it. "Just keep the window closed when you can't supervise".
I lived in a house with my parents for ten years where I could not open the sliding glass door in my room cause the door was stuck and the screen door wouldn't lock (paranoid dad) so I rarely enjoyed the cool air unless I went outside. I want to not worry about Lizzy being herself. I want her and Bellatrix to enjoy the fresh air. I just don't know what to do. It would mainly be at night when I sleep.

well you can do this i did this at my dads on my sisters window. to keep the cats from pushing out the screen run a bead of silicone caulking along the outside or inside of the screen frame to where it sits onto the frame of the building it basicly will glue it to the frame then once its cured but will still be easy to pull off with a pair of needle nose pliers when its time to move make sure to clean any dust off or it wont be secure

note if you decide to do this your room will reek like vinegar for 6 hours or more while the caulking cures

We have some windows that have a full screen (recently new windows) but nowadays everything is made so cheap i dont trust my cats from scratching at them and making holes. So we had some of the older ”side” screens used for windows that lift up…I put them inside my windows and only open the window far enough so they can’t pull the “side” screen down. I’m sorry it’s hard to explain, I’m attaching a picture, the darker color screen is the “side” screen.
