I only have one cat.
I started feeding her a very limited ingredient dry food (pea and duck formula) to sort out a potential allergy issue. Turns out she is allergic to silvervine)cat toys).
So I need help. I think I want to switch her food as I heard pea is not that great?
I am thinking about giving her wet and dry food.
I just don't know what brands to use or how to figure how much to feed her if I mix them up. She is currently 6 months old and 6.1 pounds.
Looking for brand and routine suggestions.
Right now she just gets 1/2 cup dry food, split 3 times a day. Occasional treats.

Peas are fine as long as they’re not a major ingredient. Every wet food will some kind of concession, whether it’s vegetables, gums, starch, etc. Long as it’s high protein, medium fat, and low carb, you’re in a good place. Also why it’s recommended to feed a rotation of both brands and proteins

Assuming you’re not looking to feed LID anymore, some great brands are Tiki Cat/ Tiki Cat After Dark , Rawz, Ziwi Peak, Dr Elsey’s (wet food), Instinct (lots of different veggies, but actually low carb, and you can generally pick out the peas before feeding).

Feed fish no more than once, maybe twice a week. Carrageenan is a huge no-no. Make sure you transition slowly, as well.

if it’s at all in your budget, would encourage to feed wet food only. You can rotate cheaper brands like Fancy Feast Classics (non fish) or Tiny Tiger some days to keep costs down.

Thank you. What is LID?
I don't mind feeding her what I'm feeding her, if it's a good thing to feed her. I was unsure about the peas. I keep hearing like you said though that canned food is probably better. I don't want to spend a TON of money, but I don't want the cheap stuff either. I know in the long run the good stuff is better. Just wasn't sure what. Thanks so much for the info. I'll look into those. I've not heard of them except Dr Elseys

LID is just the abbreviation for Limited Ingredient. Instinct does have a LID line (and Rawz is fairly limited ingredient as well), though, if that’s what you’d prefer, and there are other good companies that do LID foods, like Koha, Hounds and Gatos, etc.

what you’re looking for is grain free, protien of ~60% or higher on a dry matter basis, fat 10-20%, and carbs no higher than 10%. This is a basic guide, and there are some good foods that may fall outside the ranges, mainly in fat content.

If you want to check out this thread, it provides some different ideas on when to feed and what to feed.

What Do You Feed Your Cat?

As far as expensive quality foods, I like to rotate cheaper brands to make the cost easier to handle, so they are at least getting some of the better quality foods. It's also a good idea to rotate brands regularly, in an attempt to neutralize the bad stuff in one brand with the good stuff in another.

As far as how much to feed, I like to work off calories rather than number of cans or how much in a scoop. Basically I work out how many calories my cats need in a day for their weight and activity level and mix and match the different foods to meet this requirement. As you have a kitten though, it is generally ok to feed her as much as she will eat in one sitting until she stops growing.
