It's the last few official days of Summer so I'm starting to get into a fall frame of mind here. I haven't gotten my fall decorations up because my light strands have about 7 burned out bulbs and I can't find replacement lights just like them. Not that I've been running around anywhere either. But I'm ready! We have just a couple touches of fall color in the trees I can see from my house. There is one kind of tree in my yard and the neighbors that usually turn a good month or more before anything else; but even those are still green this year. I'm wondering if our color will be late. The color never laswts long enough; so I'm ok with delaying it a bit so I can savor it.

What is your favorite fall scent/treat?

I 100% believe Pumpkin Spice is way overdone. I like it. But it's not Apple Cider. I really need to get to the local orchard to get their cider. It's the best! Plus they make awesome apple cider dounts! So for drinks (and scents) nothing beats apple cider! I like it hot or cold. And in a slushie its amazing! (The local orchard makes those too.)

I think my favorite treat is Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Cake. It's a nice moist cake and not overly spiced. My mother often makes that when she needs to "gift" someone something baked. She'll bring it to work or drop one off to someone like when taking them a meal. I try to stick to making just 1 a year; so I haven't made one yet this year. I'm waiting for October I think. :yummy:

I love pumpkin! 🎃 Even though I can eat it all year round it always makes me think of fall, e.g. pumpkin pie, pumpkin cheesecake, pumpkin muffins, pumpkin bread, pumpkin ice cream, even pumpkin cream cold brew (coffee drink).

Fall for everyone else is still summer here in Florida. I don't know if we really have any fall scents. If cinnamon counts, I guess that would be it. I've never been a fan of fall. Here it's still brutally hot and up north it's winter's opening act. :cringe:

Our winters are divine. Cool enough that I can shut the AC off but not too cold that I need to bundle up. We do have the typical fall treats like the pumpkin spice stuff but I'm not a fan. I don't think that there any treats I would eat in one season that I wouldn't in any other.

I guess my favorite scent would be burning leaves and such, as silly as that sounds, I don’t care for pumpkin spice anything.

I do make these out-of-this-world pumpkin bars that are simply delicious. They have a cream cheese frosting with a good tinge of orange. They’re just wonderful. I use butternut squash because I always have it on hand.

I like the smell of pumpkin spices and desserts made with real pumpkin, like bars or pie, but not other stuff like coffee with those same spices. I also like the smell of outdoors in the fall with the scent of leaves with a bit of wood smoke in the air.

I like the smell of pumpkin spice and I like it in the traditional pumpkin treats. I don't care for it beyond those treats. I like the scent of apple and cinnamon but I think of that being more Christmas. I do really like apple pie as long as raisins weren't added. I can eat that any time of the year.

I have to say I'm not a pumpkin spice person myself.I tasted coffee once that had some pumpkin spice creamer in it and it just really turned me off.Yet...I have a favorite candle that is "fall spice" but it's also maple...to die for!I As for a treat,I love pumpkin pie and those bars with the cream cheese frosting Pam mentioned, but I do lean towards things that are more "appley",and apple and raisin, apple cranberry......

This one's a bit beyond me, as pumpkin spice isn't a thing here, and also, it's Spring!
If I was going to go for an Autumn 'treat' though, it's when it's getting cooler and I get back into my Punjabi Chai. :)
Chai and "pumpkin spice" are basically the same thing, except chai has cardamom. And of course chai is in a tea base, while pumpkin spice can be in. . .anything, unfortunately, lol.

Maybe it's not quite a scent but I love fall mornings with their crisp cool kind of smell. Smells much better than summer humidity!

Punjabi Chai is a bit different to regular chai.. a bit more 'fruity'
black tea, citrus peel, rose petals, almonds, cloves, cardamom, vanilla
It's really delicious :)

I think American apple cider must be something very different to the cider I'm used to. I grew up in the south west of England where they make cider, but it's more like a strong beer. You can get fruity slightly lower alcohol versions of it, made by big commercial breweries. (And scorned by West Country folk.) Or you can get proper farmhouse scrumpy. That's a strong, high alcohol cloudy drink, sold by the flaggon. There's a proper way of holding the flaggon over your shoulder with your finger through a ring in the neck of the bottle as you swig it.

Marvelous stuff, but it doesn't smell that great.
