Hi, hope you had a good week. I started feeding with some visual access today and totally anticlimactic . I've been nervous about it but they just completely ignored each other. This afternoon Frankie ate a bit then walked away. He came back and walked up to the gate, Buddy didn't even look up, kept eating, I let Frankie look at him for about ten seconds then pulled the blanket over to block his view again. They were about four feet away from each other. Once I blocked the view Frankie left. No negative reactions.
I'm so glad, I'm not sure what I was so worried about but all is well.
How do I progress from here? Give them longer visual access over time? I will keep doing it with food /treats.
There has been more site sharing /swapping as Buddy spends more time in the tv room, he is getting braver . When Frankie comes in later he'll sometimes sniff around a bit but then just relax on the couch with us.
Still having Buddy's litter issues but not nearly as often. Sometimes it's obvious he's spraying as it's on the wall but other times it seems that he's just peed over the side of the litter box with half in the box and half out. Other times it's right in the box. He poops in there no problem. I'm going to
pick up a jumbo box to see if it's just an issue with the size. He's a big boy.
So, a good update, feel like things are moving in a positive direction!
