I started it on Monday. I bought the $1.23 Kindle version that is supposedly the 1818 draft, but the beginning with the letters is the same as the Project Gutenberg version, so not sure what edition I'm reading. :dunno:

I got a $.99 copy on Amazon. It is one of the "Penny Dreadful" series that contain scary books that were serialized in Great Britain. The one I got includes the 1918 version of Frankenstein and the story about Sweeney Todd, demon barber - "String of Pearls." Also "The Lady or the Tiger" and an essay about Penny Dreadfuls. One of the reviews said I would not find a more beautiful presentation and it is a very readable copy.

I'm about halfway through Frankenstein. And, as might be guessed, it is nothing like the movie.

Don't think I've ever seen the full movie, but you're right, the book is NOTHING like the movie, which really surprised me. But then, in almost every case, I think books are better than movie adaptations.

How's everyone doing? I'm about 1/4 of the way through. Slower going than I would have expected, since it's a re-read, but I should be done by discussion time.

I finished the newer edition and now reading the 1818 original - only found one very minor change. Maybe I'm not concentrating hard enough.
I'm supposedly reading the 1818 version, but not sure if I've noticed any differences, so am curious to know about the minor change you spotted.

I'm up to chapter 12 now, so 40% read.

I still don't have it from library because of the new courier service being so slow.

Mush, you bring the McFiddish and digestives, Rubes how about you bringing some really good Swiss cheese?
Gil, how about your famous German potato salad? Someone else can bring Bleu cheese and a nice Chateau
Margaux from France. Everyone else bring whatever. We'll be traveling. I get the top bunk again and I'll bring
Twinkies and Cheese puffs, ha!!

Oh, that's annoying. Hopefully they'll get a move on. 🤗
