It amazes me that small cats can open doors. You would think only Hemingway Maine Coons could do it.

Of course it does not matter if the cat is following you in the bathroom for a faucet drink.
Mine are quite adept at opening the broom closet to get into the trash. They also open cabinets and scrounge around in there (this morning they managed to get in and knock a can of sauerkraut on the floor). Their latest stunt has been to pull open the air fryer and try to get to the grease under the cooking rack.

I had a cat who loved to lick plastic bags. I will never understand why she sometimes lay down on them in a bedroom.
Elvis is obsessed with plastic. When I open the sideboard where I keep a lot of cases of cat food, he will come and start licking the plastic wrapping. One morning I came out to the dining room and found a plastic package belonging to my roomies on the floor beside the cabinet it was in. *Guess who?*

Is there any chance Elvis simply knows what is inside and wants you to feed him?

I don't think so, since he's such a PICKY guy and he seems to prefer the Blue Buffalo dry food for mature cats to the wide variety of Blue Buffalo and Soulistic wet foods I spend my hard-earned money on (their food bill is a lot higher than mine. Of course, they're obligate carnivores. I'm an occasional tuna eater/otherwise vegetarian). I have read that plastic is coated with some kind of animal-derived product. This may be the reason, but I think it's probably just that Elvis is King and Elvis will do what Elvis will do. :bluecat:

Pawing at stuff. My tabby (profile picture) loves to paw at a book if I put it down or the glass door if I'm on the other side. Her latest is pawing at the books in the book shelf. Drives me nuts. I don't know if she does it when I'm not here or if it's some kind of attention getter.

Also she will jump in a cupboard if it's left open and she notices it. She was 10 in April. She has way more energy than her littermate sister.

I'm consistently amazed at how Sassy loves to switch up her routine. A few weeks ago I was cleaning out the closet and got out a couple of my old gym duffel bags with the intention of selling/donating them. I put them down next to my laundry basket to deal with them later - this is now her new morning nap spot. She wakes up, eats breakfast, checks out the catio for a bit, and then hops onto the pile of old duffel bags for a little snooze.

A girl likes a little variety from time to time -- especially if it's comfortable!

cat ownership is so easy when they're 12 years old and just sleep all the time.

Sammy is obsessed with food.
Jasper is obsessed with bug hunting.
Mia is obsessed with me, I think o_o up my butt all the time!
Milo is obsessed with the cat lazer toy. He KNOWS the sound it makes when I pick it up!
