Hello! I was doing my daily flea combing and noticed some stuff on Salem's private parts. I do not know if it's a mucus plug or not so I will post a picture. Also an update on the flea situation, It really seems like we are getting rid of them. I will post another picture of today's combing. Should I be worried about the stuff on her private parts?

She may be having pre-labor discharge. This is common in cats near the end of pregnancy. Nothing to worry about - you’ll probably see more of it.

Are you seeing less fleas still?

Clear back in 2004 my Smokey Mama Kitty who sadly passed in 2019 was found cold and hungry on condo balcony. Little did we know when we brought her in she was expecting. A few days after rescuing her, however, while checking her out and rubbing her belly those telltale signs of soon to happen motherhood became evident. We took her to the vet just to be certain she was healthy. While there the vet stated she would take it upon herself to abort Smokey. The ultrasound showed Smokey was nearly due to deliver but because she was tiny it was not outwardly easy to discern. Smokey's character was so gentle and accommodating we sternly informed the vet that other than a wellness checkup, vitamins and supplements, that all we needed from her and on Feb. 8, 2004, Smokey gave birth to Tigger, Tommie, Tiger, and Callie. Friends of our's, a childless couple claimed both Tigger and Callie a week after their births. We kept Smokey (of course), and both Tiger and Tommie never to experience a single regret. We already had adopted several abandoned cats in the neighborhood and we've fortunately never had issues with cats getting along. Tiger and Tommie have both sadly passed to be with their mommy. We nonetheless currently have eleven and since we're now older should any survive us, my son, also a passionate cat person, will inherit kitty/s in the Will. All that being said, I am so excited to admire Salem's babies!

Good to hear we are getting close to labor! They still have fleas but it's the best it's ever been, no fleas jumping and attacking my feet and the amount of fleas I get off each day is so small and honestly just seems to get smaller. I wish they were as good as gone by now but that isn't the case. I just hope the kittens will be okay even though the flea situation isn't fully gone.

So, I had logged out, just excited Salem's getting close to delivery when I had to mention flea issue to hubby, and upon brainstorming following is what I came up with yet not certain it will be feasible as close to labor as mama kitty may be. Here's the link just in case you can use it:

Remedies for Fleas
One of the first solutions to get rid of fleas from your pet is to bathe them. Wash your pet using Dawn dish soap or a pet shampoo formulated for fleas.

More times than not, our rescues over the years have allowed us to do the "near impossible" including giving baths as they know you are helping. Don't risk injuring yourself in event mama kitty does not yet trust enough, however. And obvioiusly you most likely don't want to risk Salem giving birth in the water. Maybe one of those hoses hooked onto kitchen faucet could work without emersion, though.

I doubt she would trust me enough with the life she has had so far to bathe her sadly. She has frontline plus + the spray and I comb her every day and once it's been two weeks since last I sprayed the room with Adams home spray I will do it again. by then the kittens will be here. I am trying my best to get rid of these evil fleas! I also worry the product I put on them would come off if I bathed them even though I doubt I could even bathe Tigger let alone Salem and I can forget about ever trying that with Squirt considering she is semi-feral.
we sprayed the yard so no fleas are coming from outside so now it's just me hacking away at the flea population that still continues to survive everything that I have thrown at it so far. I know the products I have used so far work because I have seen real results in a short time! I know I just gotta keep doing what I have been doing till next month's reapplication of frontline and I hope by then the fleas will have died out completely but one can only hope.

Think we hit the max, waited a while and no new ones and she seems to be settling down all seem to be nursing just fine as of today and the other cats checked them out and seem to be giving Salem her space so I think it will work out. Tried weighing them but the weigher was busted and we have a second but it's dead so tomorrow at 9 we will be buying a battery for it and will weigh them tomorrow morning, I suspect she went into labor sometime around 10 and by about 12:30 she gave birth to what I think was the last one. They are Tiggers and I suspect 2 boys and 3 girls based on the coats. I got some pictures to show and I think I am gonna head to bed, they all seem fine last I checked and I need some sleep. :hearthrob::hearthrob::hearthrob:

Never heard of a cat giving birth in a sink! There's a first for everything, it seems.

You can weigh the kitties when mom will let you without being unduly alarmed. Some mothers are calmer than others. Even if they are skittish, moms usually calm down in a couple days.

I helped her move the kittens when they were born because it was a bad spot she picked and she lets me pick them up and doesn't seem overly protective of them, she walked out into the bigger room and didn't care that I was picking them up and weighing them so I am happy about that. now the last that was born weighs the least and one is a hog it seems. Here are the weights!
I can't really tell them apart I was just focused on weighing them and I did so twice.

106g
110g
109g
119g
101g

One of the 110-109 might be 113 because that is what I got the second time I weighed them. and those are the closest to 113g
Now are these normal weights for kittens that were born 12 hours ago? should I be worried about the runt and does she need supplementing and when should I start on that?

Salem has to trust you since she's allowing you to handle her babies without getting upset.
