Starting in the spring every spring my cat poops in front of the door or any place else that can in the house instead of using the litter box until cold weather! If they make it difficult for her to go in a spot she choose a new one just not the litter box?!

Question: where is your litter box located? It sounds like the cat is only using it when she has no other option, which means it’s not too convenient for to use it. Can you bring it out somewhere more prominent or visible, or make it otherwise more accessible?

have you tried with a few different types of litter? The cat may be finding the the current type of litter unsuitable (dusty, too coarse for the paw or similar) , and may be avoiding the litter box because of that.

Additionally… placing MORE than 1 litter boxes might help. Literally a few different litter boxes around different rooms… see if there’s a particular spot where the cat is finally comfortable using the litter box.

Basically- begin with the assumption that the cat does want to use the litter box (most cats really do!) … and try working out what’s making it so hard for her to do so.

Ok, in that case try ruling out a few things:

1. Is it a medical issue of some sort? a full check up from the vet might help. specially since she's a senior cat, and did not do it for the first few years when she was younger (and maybe healthier)

2. What type of litter are you using - bentonite, sand, pine, tofu, .... switch this around. and with the 4 litter boxes + litter robot ....where are they in the house? in different rooms? basement? can you try placing one near the door where she poops and pees during the warm months?

The Pssst sprayers aren't going to help you with this, like you said - she'll just find a different spot and you can't make her use her actually use her litter boxes, by spraying her everywhere else! it's not practical, plus it's just causing her extra stress, which isn't going to lead to the behaviour that you want - in fact, the stress is likely making her more anxious and she's marking territory by pooping and peeing around the house. I'd remove the sprayers ... they're not your solution for this.

TBH my first reaction was, is she spayed? If it's seasonal...but I see that this is a recent occurrence. Agreed, this seems like something to take to a vet.

I might provide another box for her by the front door to see if this helps. So interesting about the spring time habit! I wonder if it has something to do with animals that come by the front door and sniff around. Cats can mark their territory with their feces, so it's possible that during the warmer months a neighborhood cat or raccoon etc comes by your front porch and your cat smells and marks. My cat had a going to the bathroom by the front door problem for a very long time, and placing a litter box by the door ultimately stopped the behavior. She did it all year round though!!
