So tired of schedules! I was diagnosed with Gestational Diabetes and I’m now eating 3 meals and 3+ snacks per day, checking blood sugars after each meal and trying to be very regimented with what I eat. It’s going ok, I’m on a mild dose of medication but no insulin and baby is measuring right at 53% and she seems super healthy every visit.
But on top of the eating schedule I have two doctor visits per week now. And in addition to that there is the new puppy who has a schedule for crate and training.

Sometimes I wake up and look forward to going to bed because then all the regiments are finished and I can simply chill out and sleep (fitfully because I’m 34.5 weeks preggers).

nothing is even that bad, just tired of the schedules! Thankfully my husband has been doing litterboxes, cat feeding and a lot of the other chores.

Also,Olive found the toy bassinet I had planned on putting into storage.

Sorry to hear about the GD, KarenKat KarenKat . Are you on metformin or whatever it's called? I think that's what they put my friend on, and she managed it pretty well. Is the puppy going to be done with training soon to at least clear that routine up?

Sorry KarenKat KarenKat . The last trimester of pregnancy is hard and uncomfortable as it is. Something that might feel like an inconvenience at other times can feel like a royal pain. :hugs:

I have found myself with another sewing project I don't really have time for. I'm not the best seamstress; so I have to take my time. I got the liners for my new bedroom curtains and after looking at everthing; they are too heavy to just attach to my new curtains; which are a polyester "searsucker textured microfiber." I don't want to risk ripping them!

So for now I have the liners on the rod that held my sheers and the purple curtains on the big rod in front. The liners have a strip to pin them to the curtains or a pocket for a rod. The main curtains have a tab back; which I love the look of.

So I need to add tab backs to the liners and then I'm thinking I can add snaps to the purple curtains to attach them to each other. I think I already have snaps left from a project I did like 16 years ago. If the snaps work it would make washing them more simple in the future. I do need to make sure the snaps will work with the liners; but I think so.

But the good news is; our bedroom is nice and dark. DH asked if I need him to open the curtains when he leaves for work. I said no. I do miss the sheers. I didn't realize how much the filtered the light. Without those the light feels harsh!

Thanks, it’s actually called Glyburide - I think it stimulates more insulin production or something. It’s a pretty small dose and it’s been helping.

the puppy …. Is still pretty young, she will be about 6 months old when the baby comes and she’s a bit crazy still. We are working on having the nursery be completely out of bounds for her, we are working on a “boundary” command so we have her sit on a dog bed and she has to stay there (while we deal with a baby thing). So we are trying to have things to help her behave better for baby but there will be some amount of puppess still there.

Thanks! I feel pretty lucky on symptoms so far but the heartburn, breathing difficulties and night hip pain are no fun for sure. Just scheduled my induction for Oct 8 though so it’s getting real!

KarenKat KarenKat I am sorry to hear about the GD.

it is a tough thing to go through. ((((Hugs))). I feel for you. I also know that in this stage of preg, the hormones are going wild: and sleep is almost nonexistent.
But try to pick up on some positives.

Your doctor caught this. You have it under control. You are being watched very carefully for any badness which may occur.
These are all good things to focus on.

As far as the puppy: It is good that he is currently in training. You would not want him untrained, when you have a newborn. That would be even more stressful.

You husband is supportive and loves you.. another plus.

The annoying things you are going through; are only temporary. Not forever.

Try to get some rest. Easier said than done.

Do you have someone you can vent to? I mean a professional? Many OB’s have someone you can vent to. It may help.

((((hugs)))))

Thanks artiemom artiemom - I think venting here or to my husband is enough for me.

We love our OB staff, and other than them being behind schedule a lot I feel like I’m definitely getting good care. We took a tour of the delivery room and loved it. so there is definitely a lot to be thankful for.

I would definitely not do a dog and pregnancy at the same time again though, lol!

Sorry to hear about your GD, KarenKat KarenKat . The medication you are on works well to control blood sugar but sometimes it can work a bit too well and cause low blood sugar. You want to carry your meter and something to treat low blood sugar when you are away from home. The fastest treatment is candy that is pure sugar like the individual packages of fruit gummies or rolls of Smarties. Throw a couple in your purse and you will be ready if you need them. There are also glucose tablets you can buy but they taste nasty IMHO.

KarenKat KarenKat I so feel for you. I spent months 10 & 11 of my first pregnancy (don't ask, yes, it was that long, yes, my doctor should have been shot, and yes, he's just fine...was over 27" at birth) I don't think I slept more than 20 minutes at a time, but around the clock. There was no way to get comfortable. LOL, I was so big, I could balance a dinner plate on my stomach...until Spawn 1 decided to kick it across the room!

its hard knowing i cant help/fix things for her knowing my methods and ways wont work for her
I know, and men seem to be hard-wired with this "I must fix it" mentality. And that is very good much of the time. However, what she will need most from you is to just listen to her, and tell her how much you care. Let the pros handle the heavy lifting on this one. You'll be surprise how much just know that you will listen helps her.

:rolleyes:very true all that you said and its taken a good part of these 16 years to get it sunk into my head and actually put that into practice:lol:i am getting better at it though just offering a hug with an i love you things will be ok rather than the just do this and just do that.either that or just shut my mouth and stay silent:lol:but i am a cave man kinda with the"must protect my mate"mentality and anytime she cries i get angry:lol:not that i can do anything about it i just dont like seeing her cry:rolleyes:which also means i lose any type of dissagreement etc. soon as she gets teary eyed:lol:

that’s a good idea, I tend to have a granola bar at least in my purse for an emergency snack, but a little candy would be a good idea. I’ve been on these meds for about a month and a half and so far my blood sugar hasn’t dropped too low thankfully.

Word of advice from the husband for people who use CPAP...

Do NOT fart with your back to the machine while using it or else the funk will get sucked into the machine and come out through the mask and you will be breathing in the stink. Apparently that happened to him the other night.
