He definitely does want to be with her. When she was in his room napping yesterday he spent a good half an hour exploring and sniffing around her room. He also meows non-stop (usually for attention when he's alone), but I've noticed him lately sitting by the gates meowing too almost as of he's crying for her to come see him as he'll get silent when he sees her. He could just be wanting to go out but sometimes it seems like he's trying to call to her. It also explains why he's constantly trying to go to her when he's out leash-less haha

I did go today on my lunch break and got a few new wet foods for them to try so hopefully I'll find something he likes again. For a cat that loves to eat he's very picky with his flavours. I do warm the food up slightly and I also mix his food with water to try and give him more water. He's never had an issue with it until last night.
"He definitely does want to be with her." - :)

" When she was in his room napping yesterday he spent a good half an hour exploring and sniffing around her room." - Awwwwww, did he look good doing it?

" He also meows non-stop (usually for attention when he's alone)," - Ok, usually ignoring them will reduce or eliminate that.

" but I've noticed him lately sitting by the gates meowing too almost as of he's crying for her to come see him as he'll get silent when he sees her." - Very possible.

" He could just be wanting to go out" - True

" but sometimes it seems like he's trying to call to her." - Agreed. Cats call each other often.

"It also explains why he's constantly trying to go to her when he's out leash-less haha" - Exactly. He can't wait to play with her. :/

"I did go today on my lunch break and got a few new wet foods for them to try so hopefully I'll find something he likes again." - Ok, great. Good luck!!

" For a cat that loves to eat he's very picky with his flavours." - Totally :/

" I do warm the food up slightly and I also mix his food with water to try and give him more water." - Ok. Sometimes the water can dilute the flavor but sounds like that isn't an issue with him.

"He's never had an issue with it until last night. " - Maybe jsut an off night. They do have those. :/

"I did forget to answer your question about distraction. I'm still finding it easy with treats for the most part." - Great.

"Talking to them doesn't seem to be working as well but I will keep trying :) " - Ok. Calm and confident and loving. Keep working on it. :)

"I also wanted to mention how Fluffy acts when he's upstairs in my room behind the gates and he sees Sapphire. When he first sees her, he'll crouch really low and then kind of jump towards the gate. Sometimes he will hide behind a chair that is in the corner and peek out to see if she's there then run out again." - Yep, total play.

"He did this tonight while she was a few feet from the gate." - Yes, he wants to play. :/

"I did notice when he realized there was a gate there he did start walking around with his tail up before laying down." - Awwwwwww, totally supports the view it is all play. IF it was aggression he would not act like that.

"On to the introductions. Things seemed to have went well tonight." - Great

" They both had supper together, Fluffy on the ground with just his harness and Sapphire up on her tree." - Perfect.

"Threw some treats for Fluffy after for him to chase and then even guided him to the window with a treat." - Great

" I was hoping he'd stay there for a bit, but no luck." - Hahahaha, not surprising.

"I did manage to actually get Sapphire to come down to the ground for treats with no issues." - WOW!! GREAT!!! In time I would love to have them eat a meal together on the floor.

" The only issue I'm still seeing is that as soon as he's not distracted, Fluffy immediately starts to walk towards wherever she happens to be to try and get close to her." - Normal. Just find the balance between letting it happen safely and distracting. If you get him to look away, turn away it is a great thing. In time, she will have to step up and do her part as well.

" The good news is, as long as I have a treat, I can basically get him to hold wherever he is." - Perfect.

"When Sapphire came down, I had him only a few feet from her sitting and laying down using the treat." - WOW!!! Was he on his leash? Either way AMAZING!!! LOVE IT!!!

"That's all for today :) " - Hahahaha, I think you had a good day!!! ;)

He seemed curious to be in her room, but he's only been in there a few times before.

He wasn't on a leash when she came down. I had him sitting nicely waiting for a treat in my hand :)

I'm thinking I would like to try dinner together on the ground. It may be a slight struggle as I think I've mentioned, Sapphire is very finicky with her eating. She likes to have a few bites and then eat more later. She is also pretty particular about where she eats and really likes to have her food in her room. I'm actually surprised I've managed to get her to eat even a little bit up on her tree.

No updates from this morning. The morning introductions are getting more and more difficult now that the sun is coming up later and later. Sapphire will usually get up briefly when I do, but she'll go back to half napping shortly after and doesn't wake up until right before I leave for work.

This morning she wouldn't come downstairs at all and just wanted to relax in her room. As my time is fairly limited in the mornings, rather than try and get her to come downstairs, I've just closed her door to let her relax in peace and I let Fluffy come out of his room to have the run of the house while I eat/finish getting ready.

I expect the mornings to be difficult for intros at least until she maybe starts to adapt to the season change. I don't mind giving Fluffy a bit of free time either and I try and give Sapphire some extra pets and love before I let Fluffy out.

Hello :)

Did an introduction session last night and this morning with just the harness on and no leash both times.

I had Sapphire eating a little closer to the floor last night up on the cushions she likes to rest on about two feet off the ground. Fluffy was behaving and waiting for more treats and I eventually managed to get Sapphire to come down to the floor for a treat. She was acting a bit cautious but overall Fluffy was behaving. He was still interested in going to visit her but more interested in treats (no luck with toys yet). After that session, Sapphire was really playful and hyper tearing around the upstairs of the house.

This morning I had him out again with no leash while Sapphire rested up on her cat tree. I guided Fluffy to look out the window which he did for a bit. Eventually he jumped down and was walking around the base of the cat tree and looking like he was going to try and jump up so I guided him away but overall there were no issues. When I went to bring Fluffy upstairs, I carried him up and Sapphire was laying in her room about ten feet away. She hissed at him while I was holding him, but that was all.

Two more successful intros :)

"Hello :)" - Hello!!! :) When I copied this I saw the last line. ;) Pretty awesome. Let's see the details.

"Did an introduction session last night and this morning with just the harness on and no leash both times." - Perfect. You are gaining confidence like the cats!!! ;)

"I had Sapphire eating a little closer to the floor last night up on the cushions she likes to rest on about two feet off the ground." - Great

"Fluffy was behaving" - Fantastic!!

" and waiting for more treats" - Awwwwwwww

" and I eventually managed to get Sapphire to come down to the floor for a treat." - AWESOME!!!

" She was acting a bit cautious" - That is fine.

" but overall Fluffy was behaving." - THAT is the key!!!

" He was still interested in going to visit her but more interested in treats (no luck with toys yet)." - Great. I am not bothered by him wanting to visit (since he seems to be doing it in a play way) but great his is distracted by treats. It is fine if the toys don't work yet.

" After that session, Sapphire was really playful and hyper tearing around the upstairs of the house." - Awwwwwwwwww. Do you think she was kinda excited about him?

"This morning I had him out again with no leash while Sapphire rested up on her cat tree." - Perfect

" I guided Fluffy to look out the window which he did for a bit." - Great

" Eventually he jumped down and was walking around the base of the cat tree and looking like he was going to try and jump up" - Awwwwwwwww. Does he go up there when she is not around?

" so I guided him away but overall there were no issues." - Perfect. The important thing is there were no issues.

" When I went to bring Fluffy upstairs, I carried him up and Sapphire was laying in her room about ten feet away. " - Ok. You carried him because you didn't trust him to go straight to his room?

"She hissed at him while I was holding him, but that was all." - Hahahaha, well, why not?????? ;)

"Two more successful intros :) " - Fantastic!!!

Keep up the great work!!! GREAT JOB!!

He does sometimes go up there when she's in her room but it's rare and he's not the greatest jumper so he usually just goes up to the middle level.

And I carried him in part because I didn't know where she was going to be so I didn't want surprises and I had already taken his harness off and didn't want to stress him by putting it back on, and also in part that I was running extremely late for work haha

I believe I forgot to answer one of your questions..
I'm not exactly sure if Sapphire is excited after seeing Fluffy or not. She could very well be or she could just be getting a bit hyper at that time. She did the same thing last night after the intros.

I caught a quick glimpse of them touching noses through the gate again last night. At quick glance, Fluffy almost looked a bit scared of her, but it was a very quick glance. His back looked slightly arched up but I'm not sure.

Fluffy also wouldn't eat wet food again last night. Every single food I gave him, he just sniffed it and then looked at me and meowed for food so eventually I just gave him dry food to make him happy. He EVENTUALLY ate a bit of wet food this morning but it took about half an hour and I had to hide a treat in the food.

Out of the blue this morning, Sapphire was also limping on her back leg. She had her leg raised up and would only walk on it for a brief second. About five minutes later she was fine. This also happened earlier in the week and it only lasted for about a minute or two. I'm not sure if I should take either of them to the vet. It's also extremely difficult to take them to the vet as most vets are only open the exact same time I'm at work and if they are open at all on the weekends it's only for about 3 hours and it's next to impossible to get an appointment.

"I believe I forgot to answer one of your questions.." - Ok

"I'm not exactly sure if Sapphire is excited after seeing Fluffy or not. She could very well be or she could just be getting a bit hyper at that time." - Ok. Yes difficult to know.

" She did the same thing last night after the intros." - Ok

"I caught a quick glimpse of them touching noses through the gate again last night. " - Awwwwwww

"At quick glance, Fluffy almost looked a bit scared of her, but it was a very quick glance." - Possibly BUT he didn't run away.

Maybe hold off for a day and maybe he will eat it the enxt time.

"Out of the blue this morning, Sapphire was also limping on her back leg. She had her leg raised up and would only walk on it for a brief second." - Poor thing. :( She might have laid on it wrong or hurt it jumping down, etc.

" About five minutes later she was fine." - Ok :/

" This also happened earlier in the week and it only lasted for about a minute or two. " - Hmmmmmmm. Maybe this is why she is more "lazy" lately?

Ideally she should get in but at this point it seems to wear off so maybe not urgent yet. Let's monitor her and then decide what is best to do.

As the week has been going by Sapphire has actually been getting more active surprisingly. I did try and feel her back leg and foot but she really doesn't like me touching her back legs or paws so I wasn't able to really feel if there was anything. I'm going to try and cut her back claws as well. I'm thinking that maybe one of them has split or is possibly really long and maybe bothering her. They are notoriously difficult to cut so I don't do her back claws as often.

They are notoriously difficult to cut so I don't do her back claws as often.
"As the week has been going by Sapphire has actually been getting more active surprisingly." - Interesting. Maybe her activity led to a strain or something.

" I did try and feel her back leg and foot but she really doesn't like me touching her back legs or paws so I wasn't able to really feel if there was anything." - Yes, it is hard. Better to try observe her if possible.

" I'm going to try and cut her back claws as well. I'm thinking that maybe one of them has split or is possibly really long and maybe bothering her." - Could be. I would think it would be more nagging though and she would probably be biting it etc.

"They are notoriously difficult to cut so I don't do her back claws as often." - Yes. :/

I am guessing she might have pulled or twisted something given she is a bit more active lately. Doesn't sound too bad but keep an eye on her.

Hello!
Just a small update.
No more limping from Sapphire last night but I will still keep an eye on it.
Fluffy also gobbled down his chicken pate last night at dinner time!

Nothing new on the introduction front. I gave each of the cats a piece of honeysuckle wood last night and they were each rolling around and playing with it at the gates upstairs. I also took another video since the progress is progressing at a snails pace now :)

I Had them eating together again and Sapphire came down for treats and you can also see that Fluffy really wants to go to her. Right after I ended the video and while Fluffy was chasing a treat, Sapphire ran upstairs. She didn't seem scared however, she seemed more on the hyper/playful side.

He probably is! I didn't listen to the video but he tends to start purring like crazy when treats come out.

"Hello!" - Hello

Just a small update.
"No more limping from Sapphire last night but I will still keep an eye on it." - Great!!!

"Fluffy also gobbled down his chicken pate last night at dinner time!" - Perfect!!!

"Nothing new on the introduction front." - Ok

" I gave each of the cats a piece of honeysuckle wood last night and they were each rolling around and playing with it at the gates upstairs. " - Awwwwwwwwww, very cool

"I also took another video since the progress is progressing at a snails pace now :)" - Great, let's take a look.

Video - MY GOODNESS are they ADORABLE or what?!?!?!?!?!? Seriously!!!!

Ok, now back to the video AMAZING!!! He is focused on treats. She isn't worried about him and eats. THEN she comes down and eats a treat. And he is just focused on his treats. If this is perfect it is as close to perfect as possible!!! It's snails pace because they are pretty much there!!! :)

"I Had them eating together again and Sapphire came down for treats" - Not in this video?

" and you can also see that Fluffy really wants to go to her." - In the video I didn't see him going for her (maybe it was hard to tell and you distracted him) BUT I didn't see any negative body language, any reactions.

" Right after I ended the video and while Fluffy was chasing a treat, Sapphire ran upstairs. " - Interesting

"She didn't seem scared however, she seemed more on the hyper/playful side." - Awwwwwww, maybe she wanted him to chase her for play?

And he didn't chase her? Or did you grab him?

Well, I see them so very close. Keep up the great work. See if they can eat on the floor together.

Amazing!!!! :)

My goodness they are ADORABLE!!! I seriously can't get over it!!! :) I love how Fluffy runs!!!

I took a video of them of them eating but it ended up just being a minute long of two cats with their faces in their bowls haha

I do also think it may have been a bit playful but I'm not exact sure. Im pretty sure it wasn't fear because she does this all the time with me, sometimes when I'm playing with her, sometimes not. She'll kind of crouch near the stairs and wait for me to neither go near her or go to pet her and she runs upstairs at light speed. Usually I can get her to play when she does that so I think it's just a bit of kitty zoomies.

As for Fluffy, I could tell that Sapphire was ready to run upstairs so I distracted him the other way and then went to pet her which sent her shooting up to her room. I don't even think Fluffy knew she was gone so he just came back to me for more treats.

I'm pretty good at keeping him from going passed me when I have the treats. As he's walking he'll very subtly look behind me to try and catch a glimpse of her but he'll choose the treats instead. So far that is the closest I've let them get to eachother without a leash on but at that distance I haven't seen any hissing or growling yet. Sapphire usually reserves the hiss for when I'm holding Fluffy.

Hello and good morning!

Just a small update. Things have been going steady. Friday evenings and Saturday mornings I've been trying to not worry too much about introductions unless a good opportunity presents itself. After working all week I feel like I need a slight break so I'll use the time that I would normally use for intros to let Fluffy have the run of the house for a bit instead.

Last night I had Sapphire eating on the floor which worked out fine. She was more than happy to come down and eat. I've been giving them both a new brand of CBD Hemp Oil and it really seems to be helping Sapphire a lot. No issues. Fluffy still wanted to go see her but that's nothing new.

This morning I brought Fluffy out (with harness but no leash) and was just giving them treats. Then I was guiding Fluffy over to the window away from the cat tree, and Sapphire jumped down and walked right over to where I was trying to guide Fluffy. I distracted him away with treats, and she would continue to follow and come closer for more treats. There were no issues. Fluffy was starting to get excited, especially since she was only about two feet away but I kept him distracted when it seemed like he was going to try and get close to her. I didn't want to push it and lose control of the good progress so I guided Fluffy back to his room.

That's all for today so far.
I also took a picture of them eating together and I will try and have them eating closer tonight.

Not an issue at all.

"I've been giving them both a new brand of CBD Hemp Oil and it really seems to be helping Sapphire a lot. No issues." - Ok.

" Fluffy still wanted to go see her but that's nothing new." - Totally normal. NOt an issue as long as he isn't attacking her.

"Then I was guiding Fluffy over to the window away from the cat tree, and Sapphire jumped down and walked right over to where I was trying to guide Fluffy. " - WOW!!! THAT is AWESOME!!!! Another sign of progress. ;)

"I distracted him away with treats, and she would continue to follow and come closer for more treats. There were no issues." - WOw. FANTASTIC!!! GREAT job!!!! :)

" Fluffy was starting to get excited, especially since she was only about two feet away" - Normal, expected. How was she respo:clap2:nding?

" but I kept him distracted when it seemed like he was going to try and get close to her." - Great

" I didn't want to push it and lose control of the good progress so I guided Fluffy back to his room." - Ok, when you feel ready as long as he is doing well give him a bit more leeway.

"That's all for today so far." - That is "all"?????? THAT is FANTASTIC!!!

"I also took a picture of them eating together and I will try and have them eating closer tonight." - The pic is fantastic. My goodness they are ADORABLE!!! I know I say that every time but seriously!!!! ADORABLE!!!!!

I think we'll be able to take away the playpen fairly soon. Don't think it will be needed. :)

GREAT WORK!!! I think you are almost there. :) We'll have to keep doing what you are doing, give him a bit more leeway if she allows, keep it positive.

I am blown away. GREAT JOB!!! This last encounter was perfect. :)

She wasnt really reacting at all when he would start towards her. She would kind of just sit there waiting for a treat.

I will work towards giving Fluffy a bit more leeway. I'm usually alone at the time so in the event that she runs, he pounces, etc etc, I'm not sure that I would have the ability to intervene so I'm taking it slowly on that front.

I don't ever use the playpen anymore either. It's just out because it is semi difficult to put away and Fluffy likes to just go lay in it sometimes when he's out by himself.

Tonight I may try feeding them with no harness. I'm sure it'll go the same as with the harness on but we will see.
