#2 and #5 are my favorites - I like lighter colors for bedding. I have actually been looking at similar patterns for my summer bedspread. I love India cotton cloth spreads, they are the perfect weight for summer and there are so many beautiful patterns to choose from.

Whatever you pick, show pictures of your loft!
I will!

Thanks for your opinions everyone. I got paid yesterday so I've ordered a set. I'm not going to tell you which one, but I'll post some pictures when I've finished decorating.

Well, I haven't quite finished decorating, but I thought I'd show you what it looks like so far.

First of all, living in a loft makes redecorating a bit of a nightmare. This was the longest ladder I could find.

Balanced on top of a piece of wood, on top of a storage box, on top of two yoga mats, on top of a table.

But I still can't reach this bit! :livid: I'm now looking for 9 ft tall retired basketball players or circus stilt walkers to befriend, so I can ask them to help.

However, the bit of the loft I actually sleep in is done. I really like the white walls and the new bed covers look great. The cats are happy with my choice too.

I know a litter box in the bedroom isn't everyone's idea of fun, but Forest sprays in this corner if there is no box. I've made a little rack to hang the bags and scoop and everything from, so it doesn't look quite so terrible.

Still thinking of getting a new dresser, or finding an old one I can repaint, and some more cacti to stand in the smaller windowsill.

Looks great !!! Love the bed linen you went with.

Your ladder setup looks ingenious, but also a bit dangerous. Too bad, though, it wasn't high enough to reach the top. Guess you should have put out the call for the basketball players, before the Olympics ended. ;)

The ladder setup is very dangerous! I used to work for a company that did a lot of field work and if someone had done something like that it would have been red carded (stop work) immediately. Please be careful.

It looks great! The color brightens up the space a lot!

Do you have a pole for your paint roller? Maybe you can get a longer one?
They do make extension poles for paint rollers. I wish you were closer Norachan Norachan . My late DH was a painter and I still have all his things in the shed.

Norachan Norachan If you put the ladder on the floor - much more secure - you can then place a large / wide sturdy board from stair step to appropriate level of ladder. Be sure board is long enough to reach from back of step (against next higher riser) through both rungs of the ladder. Makes a sort of DIY scaffolding.

You're right! It certainly wasn't one of my better ideas. It was just done out of frustration because I really wanted to get on with the decorating

I bought the longest roller I could find, but maybe I could attach a broom handle to it and make it longer that way.

That's a good idea. I don't have any planks long enough in my spare wood shed at the moment, but maybe I could come up with something.
I would hire a professional to finish that top piece
Ah, but that would take all the fun out of it!

Something sturdy attached with duct tape should work. Just please do it when MrHusband is home to help "spot" you.

My mother's bedroom has a cathedral ceiling so I feel for you with trying to paint. The drywall tape at the peak has been coming loose for ages but you'd need scaffolding to fix it! So in almost 25 years of living there; they've never painted the whole room. The peak walls have had to stay white. It's deffinitely not a DIY job without a scaffold. That room is also hotter in the summer and cold in the winter. It's the reason I knew I didn't want a house with ceilings like that in any room.

Why don't you get an extension ladder, like the ones used outside? You can extend it safely to get to the highest spot.

Yeah, high ceilings are a pain, aren't they? I don't know why people bother with them. In the winter the upstairs room is the only warm part of this house and in the summer it's unbearably hot up there. Plus, we've lost all that space that could be another room but is just an empty bit of loft.

I'm hoping to get the job done without having to buy another ladder. It would be handy if you could rent ladders and scaffolds and stuff like that, but DIY isn't really that popular in Japan.
