This fuzzy inbox for Krista lasted all of a week before she decided to use it as a litter box. She had no shortage of comfy places to sit and I had no shortage of peed on places in the apartment. And so it went into the trash. But at least she looked cute and comfy for about a day. 🤦🏼‍♂️😻

Yeah, you're not the only one who had this happen. I've bought quite a few different colors, styles, shapes and patterns of soft, comfy cat beds. Many of them eventually got used as litterboxes and away they went. Sad, because they really did seem inviting and I kinda wished they'd been my size.

When she caught on that her favorite wand toys were moved to this closet, she would park herself in front of the door when she wanted to play. She would wait patiently and quietly until I picked up her message. 😹😻

I’ve been trying not to think about the anniversary coming up tomorrow. A lot has changed in a year. I got a new office layout with a daybed and a new desk and a couple weeks ago, I got a new chair. I keep thinking Krista would love all these new things. She wasn’t put off by change. I think she rather enjoyed it. Kept things interesting. She would love to supervise every assembly. I called her my furry foreman. So the chair came in a big box. Krista would have loved that too. The chair was rather expensive and so it has a trial period. I must keep the box. One thing I said I would do before my next cat was to rearrange the Katris pieces: build a pillow fort, explore new shapes, break out from the tendency to keep a Krista shrine or museum. Use and enjoy what I have instead of only seeing what I lost. And so I moved her tree to the side of my bed and collected her Katris pieces around it and that’s where this big useless box sits until I decide whether I’m keeping the chair. And the Katris pieces? I built a few things. And collected a few paper cuts along the way. It’s like having a cat without having a cat. 😹🤦🏼‍♂️😻

Two whole rows of pieces

One “I” piece short of three full sets.

The new temporary home of her tree and the definitely temporary big useless box. It can go back or it can go in the trash. But that box isn’t staying past its 60 day trial period.

Current configuration of the blocks. I think I want my current paper cuts to heal before I work on new ones. 😹

Yeah, I know. This is why I work 365 days a year. Because there are SO MANY sad anniversaries I don't want to think about.
The Katris pieces look great. I hope the chair is a keeper. Office chair or relaxing chair? I'm too much of a tightwad to buy a new task chair. My ex gave me this one when he bought all new office furniture for the building he worked in. So it was old then. It's not the greatest but it's better than my roomie's dining room chair that he sits in all day. I keep sending them emails from Staples when they have sales, but so far, no success. At least he's going to the chiropractor now!
Nice to see you have weights, too. Just sayin'.

Desk chair. It has rather aggressive lumbar support and the seat bucket is separated from the backrest. It also rocks allowing you to get a core workout by raising up on your toes and releasing. It makes impossible to slouch. But I don't yet have the core/back strength to sit in it how I should all day. Instead, I use the rocking bucket to continue to sit all goofy with my legs crossed in front of me on the edge of the desk. The bucket just keeps my spine in a better, more upright shape when I'm defeating the chair's intention. 😹 This chair hurts. But the last chair hurt too. Not quite as actively painful. But learning how to use chronically underused muscles is not going to come without some adjustment period. I wish that was a 90 day period instead of 60 days. But I have a feeling I will end up keeping it and making it my quest over the next 50 some days to sit in it correctly for longer each day before I resort to defeating it like every other chair I've used.

Share ads for gamer chairs with your roomie. Those gamers sit in their computer chairs for at least as long as programmers do. They know a thing or two about a comfortable chair. That's where I'm going next if there is a next chair for me.

I also have resistance bands and yoga mats. The question is how much I use any of it. 🤦‍♂️😹 I have 2 and a half minutes per side of my Beyond meat sausages I cook for breakfast and dinner. I grab a pair of dumbbells and do slow, controlled lifts, presses, deadlifts, or squats trying to keep the muscle under tension longer more than the number of reps I can do. I know from experience that short intense workouts like 90 second workouts shortly before eating (like chasing down my food across the plains) can still produce impressive results. But those 90 second bursts are also easy to injure oneself. I know this too. So I strike a balance between time under tension vs weight (and reps) being slung. I'm not just wanting to take the cat weight off. As long as I have all this time and consistency at home, I may as well build new routines that I can keep up with even when "new cat" is having butt, gut, or wholly new sets of disturbances. One of my largest "between cats" goals is to reclaim and redefine my life again now that I'm not bound by the special needs and concerns of an aging and ailing cat. Even without the pandemic, there was a lot of life I was missing tending to the "fur ball and chain." Of course I miss her. But this time between cats is a rare and special gift that I don't want to squander. Being able to work consistent, reasonable hours from home during this time is an interesting and ironic twist to all this. I never imagined so much of my time after Krista would be so solitary. This too may be temporary and fleeting. I feel like I'm finally growing into the post-grief pandemic renaissance I was hoping for--whatever that may look like.

Speaking of which, time to get on the running shoes for one of the few times each week that I leave my bubble. 😹

Oh, I know! I want a gamer chair. Those gamers rarely if ever leave their chairs. *The Depends Generation!* :agree:*Some people have thought I was joking about that. I know different.* One of those really colorful jobs with a footrest. SERIOUS gamer chair. newegg.com has some great ones.
Yeah, well, sports injuries are sometimes to be expected? I do 40 min. self-designed weights, yoga, calisthenics and aerobics 4-5 times a week and the other two days are house cleaning days and yard care days. Plus, all of the cat care walking/bending/scooping. And I cook 3 times a day, albeit simple stuff because when you have roomies you can't be a terror in the kitchen like I am when I don't have roomies.
Are the sausages good? I used to get the Morning Star Farms sausages, sausage patties and maple patties before they got too $$$. The "chix" and mock hamburger patties, too. I liked them a lot. Plus Amy's stuff -- the bowls were wonderful! and the meatloaf tv dinner thing.
"...This too may be temporary and fleeting. I feel like I'm finally growing into the post-grief pandemic renaissance I was hoping for--whatever that may look like." A year. Yeah. *No nagging comments.* :clapcat::bluecat::tabbycat::redtabby::gingercat2::blackcat::whiskers::redcat::runningcat::bigeyes::bicolorcat::creampersian::silver::vancat::whitecat::gingercat:😑
