Hello to all! Hope everyone is having a good Tuesday so far!

What was the most unsettling film you’ve seen?

Had to watch "A Clockwork Orange" for a Uni class a few years ago. And while I haven't actually seen the whole movie, I did stumble upon the trailer for "The Human Centipede" - Which was um, interesting!

“A Clockwork Orange” was very disturbing, but “Johnny Got His Gun” was deeply distressing. It’s a 1971 war film. I went by myself when I was in college.

The Human Centipede
The Human Centipede 2.
The Human Centipede 3.

The Babadook also made me uncomfortable.

I remember walking out after watching Apocolypse Now back in 1979 feeling absolutely shell-shocked and don't think I've had a reaction like that to a film since.

Platoon, the scene in the village hut where they shot the developmentally disabled boy in front of his mother.

Robocop where they were shooting Peter Weller.

There have been many films with animal abuse that I think I have mentally blocked. Now if it looks like something bad will happen to an animal I just turn it off. Even though it isn’t real, I don’t think it is entertaining.

Exorcist scared me allot after I saw it in the theater.

Walking dead, when Glenn was killed along with the red headed military guy, by Negan.

There’s more. I think maybe everything really disturbs me. And suddenly I am a snowflake!

I just watched a movie that I ordered via interlibrary loan that was so awful and disturbing that I will definitely never watch anything by that director again. I can't figure remember what the name of it was. I'll have to do a little research.

ETA: the movie was called Happiness. The director was Todd Solandz. It was just awful.

Saw - then ending made my stomach flip flop...I haven't seen any of the sequels yet...
The Mist - Again, the ending, it just made me sick..in an emotional way...not because of gross stuff.

This movie, I did not choose to go to. I simply tagged along because they wanted me to go, and I didn't even pay for my ticket. But House of a Thousand Corpses (a Rob Zombie film...need I say more? :rolleyes2: ) was just awful. I'm not squeamish in the least and am not really phased by blood and gore...but this...I can't even....just terrible.

I know there are a few others that disturbed me, but I can't think of them right now.

We had to watch das experiment in German class (when we were like 13 lol) it was a super interesting film, but also very screwed up. I typically like messed up movies.
The weirdest was some gore fest that was out into a Hansel and Gretel coat, I can't for the life of me remember it's name. I'm half convinced it was a fever dream. This was the first time I was introduced to gore and I did kind of like it.
And the anime corpse party messed me up for a while, but more because of the paranormal aspect, I can't do ghosts and spirits 😅

I avoid any movie that has an animal for the most part. Books too. It seems to be a standard plot device for harm/abuse to come to animals. Even books, if it has an animal that seems a prominant character, I won't finish reading it. I am very, very sensitive to anything bad/sad involving animals. I think I'm an empath/sensitive when it comes to animals. I can feel their fear/pain and it stays with me for ever.
